GT6 crashing problem to ps3 latest...

The root cause of the crashes is, quite simply, that the game is pushing the PS3's architecture to it's absolute limits and, like anything at the limit, will be more prone to issues. Crashes can happen to any of the systems but is more likely with the older fat systems (I have a 1 year old 500GB slim and have had 3 crashes in total....and I have played for 3 or more hours every day since release). Would buying a new PS3 system enable you to play for more than 20 minutes? More than likely. Will buying a new system completely eliminate crashes? Unlikely....but, chance are it will be less of a problem with a new system.

Ermm......No! Do you really think a game/system developer is stupid enough to do something like that? If they did that and then an insider leaked it, the lawsuits would be very costly. Yes, game crashes are frustrating and downright annoying but they are not intentional.....I have played PC games that crash way more frequently than every 20 minutes on release (admittedly they were patched but that is the difference I guess...PCs have greater scope for patching). Take a system to it's limit like GT6 does with the PS3's systems and then tell me how they should fix the crashes that are caused by the system being pushed to it's limit?
So, I prefered to have alert or warning from PD indicating that some PS3's can't play gt6 due to system requirements.

If that the case I skip gt6 game...

Agreed that they should have said that it is possible some systems may not be able to handle it. My guess: Sony played the odds and decided that not enough systems would be affected to warrant an announcement which may have reduced profits. Of course, it's possible the game was never tested on the 1st gen systems, only on latest gen, hence the more issues with older systems. Frankly, I expect this nowadays from game developers and publishers....why test a game fully when you can have the public test it for you on release and then release updates to fix any issues!

For 50 minutes I thoug the 1.04 update fix the problem but my ps3 turned off suddenly.

At least I was able to play for 50 minutes with no interruption.

I think v1.04. Reduce the urgency to ps3 to crash.

I was able to play for an hour, shut off.

Two hours later, I decide to play again, try join a lobby and shut off after 3-4 minutes. (Happened around 4-5 times+)

I am still having trouble with my GT6 Disk. It wont read sometimes when I load the game. I have to try several times. I dont change any method other then ejecting the game and re-loading the game time and time again until it finally reads the disk and plays it. When it does finally read and play it has no issues at all. It only happens when loading the game which 90% of the time has trouble reading it. (Annoying)

I have complained about this before... I know it is a dual layer disk...however my other games have no issues. Some times also when I quit the game... My PS3 says it got corrupted and has to do a back up? WTF is going on?

I have 120 GB Slim PS3.

Leave the disk inside the console.

Try salvaging the save from the options menu, worked for me.

I guess this thread fits the bill closest for my issue since I don't know if it's a bug or glitch on a global scale. I'm on a fat 80GB model

Last night after running several attempts at the Merc VGT Racing series seasonal at Bathurst, on one of my restarts through the start menu all sound went away, and the game froze a few seconds later. Didn't pay it too much mind until earlier today when I booted up GT6 again and on the first try at the VGT seasonal the sound went away again, I held my breath but the game didn't crash that time, GT6 just stopped all sound. Even after I quit to the game menu. I quit the game and the PS3 was working fine, audio worked. Don't know if anyone has had similar issues with that seasonal in particular or any other kind of event for that matter.

EDIT: Trying the seasonal again and no incidents yet this time around.

EDIT 2: Done with the seasonal (cleared it with a decent 2:04.xxx) issue didn't repeat itself, although the engine sound of the car would seem to skip mysteriously when approaching the last corner, and only the last corner :odd: As if the sound cut out, for not even half a second though.

i have freezing at start of every race but its not serious its just a 1 second freeze
itll go away when i disable user bgm
i dont know about serious crashes
I get the same split second freeze on my main account, but on my other account I don't have this problem at all. Both are on the same console.

Surprising I found some cars cause the game to shut down quicker.

Toyota FT-1
Original Mercedes Vision GT
Lunar Rover
Silva S13 90 Dia's selection
My friend borrow me his 500gb super slim model and I think all the crash problems will end. In the past when I update car images in my garage my system crashes. With my friends super slim update all the cars at the same time with no issues. I will update my findings with the super slim.

I think its time to replace fat models...

Seriously, I wouldn't buy a new ps3 just for GT6 when they can't manage to get the game running on every system. No matter how old - if other games work without problems.
This is not the way how it should work.

I know how you feel and Im also disapointed, but the little time Ive play gt6, it atract me because the driving feeling is better than gt5.

What it all boils down to is a software problem. Seems that all versions of the ps3 console is having problems with this gzme, be it the old fat, slim or super slims. Software writing company for this gzme should issue a recall on it and replace it with a working version or a straight up refund with or without the receipt for the full price of the game sold as new. Seeing that they can't seem to make a patch that will resolve the issue, they need to eat their profits from this game and spend some of their money as well to teach them a lesson not to produce a game that has a MAJOR playing issue. I would even go as far as to say that any repair work or replacement ps3 costs be covered as well just to ensure this type of thing doesn't happen again. This was an unethical business move by this company and they figured that they can't be held responsible for it nor could they be infringed by it either. Just us, the consumers, have to eat the loss. We should all report this to the BBB and have this issue thoroughly checked out. I'm sure they didn't perform all the proper testing before releasing this product on the market, or at least they ASSumed they could slap a fix on it and that would quell any complaints. Well, what is it now....3 fixes and still no resoulution to this problem. Time for the programing company to pay for their mistakes.
