GT6 feels very sterile to me - Fanatec user

I remember in the Academy demo earlier this year, the cars felt much more lively than GT5. You could really feel the weight of the 370Z & that really affected the feel, you had to control the throttle much more. Fast forward to the final release of GT6 and everything I've driven so far just feels very flat. I'm not feeling the weight or weight transfer in my S2000 or any other car I've driven besides the Stratos. Everything seems to have a massive amount of grip on their stock tires, much more so than GT5 had from what I remember. I'm using a Fanatec Turbo S with all assists off and steering set to simulation. I just feel like I'm missing something. For reference, I've completed the Novice series in the Fit, gone through a couple National B series in my S2000 and EVO VI TMR, gotten my National A license, and done some test drives with various 15th Anniversary cars.

What settings are Fanatec users using, and how does the game feel for you guys?

The only settings I have changed are SPR and DPR: both at -3. I only use 4 for FF in-game. Feels quite good to me though as I can tell when the car is shifting its weight.

I am still experimenting with fanatec turbo S settings, but there seems to be something fundamentally wrong with FFB on GT6.

Fanatec wheels work throught an emulation of Logitech wheels, so don't expect a feedback and support as good as the official wheels. They also have those internal tunning presets that modify the original FF signal, in the official wheels you play as intended with no alterations.

well it is, doesn't mean it still can't be fun. I think of it as an arcade game more than anything, the car engine noises are bad and the sound effects are seemingly untouched from the PS2 era but the game is still fun.

I thinkt the fanatec wheels emulate a G27 in PS3 mode and it seems like GT6 has a problem with them for now.

In another forum someone said that you can use a older firmware for the Clubsport Wheel (then it emulates a G25) and it works fine.

I use my old Driving force Pro for now and it works fine, the GT3 is useless at the moment.

Did you switched the wheel to simulation mode in the setup screen ?

I think it feels good
That has no effect on the G25/27 wheels, so it has no effect on our Fanatec wheels.

I remember the GT Academy demo having feedback from curbs, but I can't feel it in GT6.

You need an official wheel perhaps? I have the Thrustmaster T500RS and TH8RS shifter.. it feels like a real car to me.. really amazing. I sold My Fanatec GT2 as I could not get on with it.

ohhh no no noo mannn. Dont tell me they've done it again? :banghead:

I felt the exact same thing you are describing going from GT academy time trial @ indy to GT5.

Here is the thread
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gt5-physics-compared-to-2010-tt-physics.181498/

I just have a feeling the TT physcis felt more real time and edgyy to me.

Perhaps in the GT Academy versions they have more processing power available to them so the calculations per second are turned up to the max. In the full version of the game they have to account for 16 other cars on the field and maybe better graphics and other tasks so there is less processing power available. Even if you are playing single player they wouldn't up the physics calculations per second so you don't notice a difference, they would keep it at the lowest common denominator.

I doubt it, I have another theory, PD dumbed down everything in GT6 to better accomidate the larger player base. I don't remember much of the driving in GTA, but I use a g27 and the game feels really good to me.

I have a T500RS and the cars feel amazing. Much much better than in GT5. Sorry to hear about this issue with other wheels. I hope it gets fixed.

Same, feels very good even on my stoneage banged up DFP, so it is not the games fault.

Maybe Fanatec has to come up with some new firmware or PD needs to do some changes.

But i guess chances are good this will be fixed sooner or later.

Sure disapointing (i just bought fanatec stuff worth 600€ last week...) but annoys me 10 times less than all the gameplay flaws.

Guys, don't blame GT6 for this. As many have said, the T500RS feedback in GT6 is really very good.

You get very clear curb effects, car weight transfer, wheel goes light with understeer or when driving over the crest of a hill, squirming on braking, bumps in the road, torque steer on RWD from standing start, wheel weight increases nicely as the car is going faster. I even think I could feel the difference between comfort and sports tyres when I did a comparison.....
[NB: this level of feedback is for sports cars and better, cars like the Honda Fit have deliberately very sloppy steering with mushy feedback, which is clearly simulating the real cars]

All in all, it's much closer to the quality of Assetto Corsa and iRacing than expected.

I think that whatever is going wrong in Fanatec's "piggy-back on the Logitech G25/27 drivers" emulation is not on all Fanatec wheels, so it might be specific firmware. How about the guys who are feeling good Fanatec FFB mention which firmware they are using?

I`m having a good time with my GT3RS v2 wheel , elite pedals and csr shifter . settings ingame FF 8 , on wheel FF 100 SHO 100 DRI 0 ABS 0 and the rest all on 0 .

G27 here. FFB 8. Each car has a personality in GT6. I can feel the weight transfer better than I could in GT5( I last played GT5 Dec. 5th, 2013). I feel the curbs. I am still adjusting to the braking so, ABS 1.

I think I may be in the same boat here.
I thought it was just the way of the game to not give feedback on levels of traction, but now that you mention it I can't remember feeling those curbs either.
Sense of weight shift is still there for me though, but I can't remember how it felt in the Academy demo, so I can't make any comparisons.

Wheel: 911 Turbo S
Firmware: 756

Really goes to prove how subjective these things are...

Using a Fanatec CSR (non-elite) w/ CSR pedals + H-shifter set...

so far as a recent Forza defect I am having loads of fun with this wheel on GT6 - FFB is strong and responsive and weight transfer is so uncanny.

As opposed to what others say switching the steering to 'simulation' does change quite a bit.

I was thinking of going back to the DFGT to see if that makes a difference but I actually like the way GT trains you how to properly use the clutch/throttle/shift level :)

Does anyone know if FFB is reversed for the g27?

Everything about this gamefeels numb, a lot worse than gt5.

My CSR feels great in GT6. I can feel the curbs fine, weight transfer feels great, overall to me much better than GT5. I''ve used both Firmware 750b and 756. Both felt great. Sen off, FFB 100 on wheel, Sho 100, Abs 65-75, and everything else off.

I have a Fanatec CSR with elite pedals and have found GT6 fantastic. I have it on 400 degrees for GT6, I initially forgot to adjust the wheel settings to simulation but have now. I put the steering sensitivity to -2 so it wasn't too twitchy. It worked as it should.... plug and play.

I've tried everything from gtr2 and iRacing and have no snobbery at all over playing GT6. It's a riot. I didn't quite click with GT5 and played 1 to 4 with a controller.

PD is like a 10 headed octa-polar emu. Logic dictates one thing, their description another and what actually happens something else.

Apparently the controller steering sensitivity settting is only meant to be for DS3 but that has been reported to affect wheels as well.

Same setup as i got (clubsport shifter instead of csr), felt horrible yesterday compared with the old DFP ?

I did not switched to sim mode, but before someone said it won't make a difference.

Kind of hard to tell who's right now...

Thats easy to find out. Try it.

I have a GT3 v2 and haven't noticed any issues with it. Why is it useless?
