If you enter the pits (during a race) via the GP course, the last lap is (manually) deducted. So if you are (allowed!) to enter the pits via the GP course on your 58th lap, you're set back to having lap 57 completed and are about to start lap 58. The time spent is added to your lap time of lap 57.

I don't know off the top of my head how this is handled during qualifying - everyone basically takes a shortcut to have a flying lap and then finishes in the pits via the GP entry. Don't think the Nordschleife pit entry is open at all during qualifying.

That's all correct. This video was shot in Friday practice. On Saturday morning it's qualifying and you can only enter the pits after the GP course. You can also take a shortcut there to complete one GP lap without entering the Nordschleife. That way you can exit pit lane, do a lap of the GP course to warm up and then start a flying lap of the whole course. That's really important as we only have 90-minutes and each driver must do one full timed lap. Sometimes it's 4-drivers per car too!

Hey thanks for putting this together, and thanks for sharing your settings. Settings are something we rarely see with these kind of videos.

It looks like you used sport hard tires, is that right?
Do these cars run street tires or is it just the closest match?

The real VLN cars all run pure racing tyres (slicks). I found that sports hards give me the closest match to real slicks for corner speeds. Comfort softs are about level with a real semi slick like a Toyo R888.

And stock factory tire would be comfort hard ? :) That's what I use to drive in GT6.
