This is the thread to discuss all things B-Spec in Gran Turismo 7.

As it is now extremely likely for B-Spec to finally make a return to the series with Power Pack DLC I am starting this thread.

I had quite the thing for my bobs in GT5.

In GT5 all the races could be done either A-Spec (you driving) or B-Spec. Switching mid race was impossible though.

For the endurance races you had the option to save your race when pitting.

There is a screenshot of a race in Nurburgring where it shows "go to track" while in B-Spec so surely it will be possible back and forth

Yes. I also believe that back and forth will be possible. I was referring to the 24 hours impossible without B-Spec bit of the preceding post. I should have been more clear about that.

I still hold my skepticism. (2022 tweet but still.)

EDIT: This did happen, though I was told that the Japanese commentators at 2024 World Finals says it was only a tech demo.

24-Hour races in the series have never existed without B-Spec alongside, so there's that to consider.

Then again, at no point has PD ever hinted at B-Spec returning to GT7, so maybe they're suggesting you use the PS5's rest mode to take a break during the course of an endurance event :boggled:

I doubt that B-Spec will make a comeback to GT7, especially in either the Spec III update or the Power Pack DLC. For one, B-Spec isn't mentioned anywhere in any of the features list for either Spec III or the DLC; you'd think that it'd be a major selling point, considering how big pf a game mode it is. The fact that PD haven't even acknowledged the existence of B-Spec in regards to GT7, outside of occasionally showing it in development builds at public events. To me, that says that B-Spec in GT7 is limited to showcasing advancements in their A.I. and demonstrating new features.

They may very well add in a simplified B-Spec for the new endurance races coming in the DLC, but I doubt it'll release at the same time as either the DLC or Spec III update.

Might just be another aspect of Race Together. with SOPHY. If we have SOPHY "teammates" that's be interesting.
Not sure how that works. As in, we probably won't be training SOPHY like B-Spec. SOPHY should be up to speed.
Not sure how fatigue would work as I haven't experienced SOPHY having a lapse of concentration in my races. Faults usually occur due to blocking or ramming. Not the same as when Regular AI(Reggie) outbrake itself when trying not to give up a spot to the User. Plus, SOPHY isn't an unmovable object like Reggie-the-racing-wall.

We'll see. Won't have long to wait though.

One issue with B-spec if it returns to GT7 is that [while credits & grinding still an issue for some players, most players who been on GT7 a year or more have enough credits] it's easy for PD to code it so that B-spec races don't earn any credits. Why is it fun to guide B-spec Sophy? To get data on tracks, tires, cars, downforce, fuel etc? From GT4 I used B-spec in all endurance races even though many weren't really that many hours. Some of the endurance races in GT3 was OK if not fun, also for this impatient GT player..!!
