I think honestly (and you know I will butch and moan about this stuff) is there are two things happening.

The racing is closer than it has ever been and a lot of clumsiness (with a a bit of saltiness as well) and the standard full on contact.

There is a lot of new racers who can get to fairly decent DR without some of the etiquette you’d typically expect.

You also have a lot of us who take real life and apply the same standards to our gaming so things get a bit sensitive etc not one of us is immune to this.

There is some/a lot of work to be done in the penalty system, but honestly I’ve laid out a different pathway a few times.

——————

The AI and licences don’t create a learning approach to the game.

The game needs to better penalise much more more contact with the AI, it needs to really focus more on player driving standards rather winning through what ever means.

There needs to be a very clear multiplayer progression pathway in terms of quality of racing rather than restricting cars or car classes.

I almost feel like an early game achievement should be focused on getting an “on line racing licence” which then allows SR to penalise something which a player “owns” rather than an arbitrary metric.

There could be some very pervasive metrics or pre warnings around “players who drop to C sr lose X dr and quit 5x more races that players who finish 7th” etc

The point being they don’t do anything to help a player race other players competitively and in a fun space.

But the reality is always going to be that there are people who are utter dicks.

The only thing realistically we can do is play or don’t play and deal with all the crap.
I agree, the pre established AI races that are a 3 lap shot-out and have you starting from 12th place and require you to finish in the top 3 will only teach bad racing habits. It’s such an unrealistic scenario.

I've had a wonderful time at race B today with @Voodoovaj and others.
I didn't realize how good he is. 👍

Nords in a prototype car isn’t for me….
I want to try it, but I need the time to qualify. Also, I get the sense it will be a DR nightmare.

I'm not sure if I'll race this week. Not a fan of the Radical or Fuji in general. I do like the Nordschleife, but in Gr.1 cars make me hesitate. I'm just not sure if my fellow B rank racers can keep control of the car. Especially on a narrow track. I do have a current time of 7:21, which is pretty good for me. I might do one race out of curiosity and go from there.

Might be time to try ACC or iRacing I think, after last weeks debacle at Spa I thought I'd try Race A for a chill few nights racing. I ran four races and each one was absolutely atrocious, never had it so bad in gt sport or gt7. Just utter bs of the highest order, absolutely no one make an apex, they shove up the inside and use you to slow down.

One guy hit me some 4 times in one race and never got a penalty, these are nit accidental contact, it is rampant intentional dirty driving.

PD really needs to get their crap together, I don't care what I need to pay to find proper racing, this is an absolute joke.

I had some really really good races yesterday afternoon on my US account. I was in lobbies mainly made up of A+/S and A/S rated drivers including ones with Race B QT times in the top 50. My time of 1:40.3 generally had me starting P5/6 a good second down on the top times. When it came to the races I just decided to try and learn from those in front and I had a blast. More than held my own I'm delighted to say. No wins but mostly top 5 finishes with 2nd being my best result. Ultra close and clean racing and I thoroughly enjoyed it 👍👍👍👍👍

I know that race C is not for everyone this week but I strongly suggest to give it a try.
Last night I did 4 races in a row until my right shoulder told me it was time to stop.

For the ones on VR, the Hyundai VGT offers one of the best cockpits for prototypes IMO and its a very good contender against the Audi.

I know that in this kind of races if you are surrounded by the wrong people it could be a nightmare, but dont let that fear put you away from what it is at least a new and fresh combination.

B race seems good also (with one more lap should be perfect) but Im not moving from the nords.

Have a good week!

Thanks, I switched from the Porsche 919 to the Audi yesterday, and seemed slower, I think I'm missing a trick or two. I'll give the Hyundai a go today. I wish they'd waited until next week for this race C, I still need to find time to practice and take part in the GTWS races this week.

Dumb things to do...jump into Gr.1's at the 'Ring after not touching the controller for a while.🤣

It's Spring so been building crap and working outside so am either busy or nursing wounds. Currently on a taped steering thumb and brake finger. As such, and after almost 200 miles of trying, I STILL wasn't able to put down a clean lap for Race C. Throwing the 919 around there because I like the car but damn.

Say what you will about the impossibility of racing here (can't TOTALLY disagree), no other track returns the sense of accomplishment the way the 'Ring does when you DO get it right. If I can complete a lap, I think I might camp out here for a couple races this week...well, when the steering thumb stops bleeding.👍

Yeah, I’m going to have a break on this for a while, I’m getting far too many poor weeks and I’ve restarted my iracing account and will see what a months subscription is like, I’ve got tons of content on there just not sure my zx81 can run it - well see

I think I’m just racing for the sake of racing on gt at the moment, so time for a change of scenery

I only have MacBook Pros so my alternatives are really really limited.

I’ve started to play things like riders republic but sitting in a rig to do this stuff isn’t ideal.

The TT in the mustang is damn hard with a shoulder injury and the nations race is in the Redbull cars for 30 laps :(

I'm waiting for Wreckfest 2 - it's bound to be cleaner! 🤣

Tried Race A today, first race I got taken out at the first turn, got to the end and I was the only one that didn't have a red SR......

You do have to wonder what the strategies or desired outcome PD want from dailies each week (and even GTWS stuff)

They very very rarely seem to hit that fun sweet spot for people that aren’t too split etc.

Did another QT test today... yesterday with the Porsche 7.18 now with the GR010 and the top speed helps a lot 4 sec faster and was not really smooth if i get under 7.10 i might feel comfortable todo the race C low A rank. 😂 still 20sec of top times 🫣

I know what you mean, although for me this Race A is the definition of "just for the craic". Problem being, honest mistakes can be disastrous and deliberately dirty driving is almost incognito.

That turn 1 is absolutely lethal, someone has pinged me near enough every time, with consequences of varying severities. Either I've given up my chances of a win (I've been starting 2nd or 3rd with a very quick pole sitter), or completely had to suck it up recalibrate my expectations for the rest of the race.

It's fun though!!

Probably just my frustrations boiling over, tried 5 Fuji on Monday and have been punted out on each and rage quit.

I yearn for a track I like where I can fight and get a few wins at BS, like recently at Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen, Nürburgring and Fuji have put me right off

@bone_tone the Radical is so much fun, but the punching is just too much to stomach, with you on wreckfest2 😁
