Even though Race B looks quite intimidating from a DR point of view, will attempt this race a few times at least. Because I may one of the very few who believes the Green Hell is more fun in reverse for some strange reason.........

BTW, Race C is a banger. What makes it awesome is the usage of two racing tyre compounds which really makes the race strategy flexible.
 
I'd like to improve my car knowledge.

What is it about the atenza that makes it the meta around DT this week compared the alfa round willow last week and the usual C4 not dominating?

Also how long does it take everyone to get up to speed/race pace when the new dailies come out? For me it's a 50/60 lap stint to get to grips with the track and find some pace.

After about 1 win in my first 40 sport mode races, had a really good week at Laguna with 4 wins in 9 races. The attrition of that race was strong and a clean race could take me a long way. Pretty close to getting to B for the first time. Will skip this week's races due to work commitments, but hopefully there are some better ones next week.

I have a mind meld with Interlagos and the Diablo GT is an excellent accompaniment to this track. It is shocking how much it pulls the body around the turns like it still has AWD grip. The long windup with the valves in full harmony puts me in a zen like state.

Started in 4th in a mixed lobby with DR Bs, Cs and Ds. After some shenanigans in the first esses, I held my position in sight of the leaders. Inexplicably, P2 totally forgot his braking marker which put me in P3. The leaders pulled away from me over laps 3-5 but so did I from the rest of the field for P3 finish.

With my primary I entered one daily race C with the preferred Corvette C7. I couldn't set a qualy time before the race began so I started in 10th. This time I was in the Upper B grid as that's where my DR rating is.

I kept with my own as I was on the slower tyre to start with - RH. I pitted soon to undercut those ahead of me with RM tyres. The C7 is majestic through CoD which always made me gain some time on the cars ahead. Of course some fought too hard amongst themselves to either lose time or go wide in the gravel.

At the end, finished in 2nd which I wasn't expecting. Am damn happy to find this car which I usually had been avoiding till March (Daytona Race C - Gr.4). Somehow this car apart from the great acceleration, gives me loads of confidence through CoD. If keeping clean through CoD for all the 11 laps, I feel that's like 50% race won already. Race C is awesome... :gtpflag:

It’s a bit of a meh week to be honest, I can’t get into 11 laps Dragon trail, C just isn’t for me I think so I’ll persevere with A for a bit more and live with them spongy brakes.

Next week better be some better race B I’m getting seriously fed up at the moment! 😁

I'm doing my Super Master Licences whilst hoping for something special next week.

If/when I get them finished I'll probably TT Race C.

Hey everyone, the new wheel works perfectly. I still need to get used to the brake pedal a bit more, but overall it seems better than before. '18.3 at Willow (ideal '18.0) and '46.1 at Tokyo ('45.7 ideal) were my best for last week. Coping with the Copen became quite addicting eventually. 😉
DT on the Citroën in the weekend? Maybe. I totally agree with @brockie on the meh week. So I might start an alt account too most probably, since I'd like to avoid any other DR yo-yoing on the main one. Enjoy the rest of the week, fellas.
 
My good run with the C7 continues. This time with my secondary a/c. As a matter of coincidence in both of my a/c's, my C7 has the same pretty livery. What I'm most loving of this race is almost on all laps some or the other driver makes a pitstop & that even with either racing tyre compound. I've never seen such a varied pit strategy in a daily race for a long time.

Am glad TyrannaCyrusRex chose this car too as the antimeta again after Daytona which was the first time I ever drove a C7. His antimeta vids for me are like a lifeline every week.

Have informed Cyrus about sharing his video here just for antimeta fans.

Anyone looking to jump into DT. The atenza is sooooo bad on tyres. I don’t even think it’s really an option for the race. I’m switching to the Citroen

There’s definitely something wrong with it, couldn’t get anywhere near my time today, might try the Ferrari to race come the weekend but the Atenza just feels dog slow
 
Ignore what I said about the C4, it’s slipping all over the place on the curbs!! Not sure what to try 🤦‍♂️

The atenza was great. Super stable and can just slam foot down on the curbs. Down to a 47.217 and think I’ve got a 46 in if I really put the time in but I need to find a cat to race in. Going to give the cayman a whirl

Because meta is actually based largely on performative mechanics.

Sounds wanky, but simply put it’s the fastest car to drive easily.

The difference in the example is the gearing and agile nature of the 4C really suits carrying loaded limit speed.

The Atenza has a very good torque pull and early exit pull, with very stable car profile. The Alfa slides around a lot more in direct comparison.

So comparing them side by side, a higher revving 4C takes T2 at Willow on the grip limit envelope, conversely the Atenza has stable pull at seaside and stable CoD
 
Man not being able to race in the car you qualified in is really messing me up and I don’t find it enjoyable. You put all that hard work in to quali to then have ti use something completely different in the race! Meh is right! Set fire to 2k DR this eve!!! @brockie @Gurzu

Slow coach 😂😂 tbf I was exactly the same last week at Laguna! Wish I could have take your advice to leave it alone for a week! Instead I put over 600 laps trying to get a 21! And failed 🤮

Just use the Atenza, it’s the most driveable car round their consistently.

If you want some anti meta end up backwards cars if it goes wrong the FType but the gearing isn’t ideal and peaky corner exits or the corvette for tires but even then it’s complicated because conserving tires vs time lost it doesn’t make sense in consistent lobbies.

The only real alternative for most is probably the G70 but that’s a very different tire strat and requires some really solid early pace management vs tires.

In typical gran Turismo fashion we have a world famous endurance race happen and the daily race of the following week ends up being a race that is on the completely wrong layout that's also reversed and ends up being a sprint race. I'm not surprised, just disappointed.

Yep zero effort put in by PD. At this point I wonder if they are using a generator app to make these events up.
 
I raced the Ferrari at DT and it was enjoyable, beat my main account time, again! 🤨 it’s a little wild around the CoD but just feels better to race with, so I’ll stick with that, also used medium until lap 10 and they were only half used, so tyre wearing better,

I would have won that race (alt account MidBS) but I had a bad cod but second place.
 
I'd say the description of "meh" suits this week down to the ground.

I adore the combination in Race A in principle, but it's one of those in which i get really tense in race conditions so I can only usually do 2 or 3 in quick succession thanks to the onset of The DS5 Rigor Mortis Grip of Doom.

Nurb Reverse is too steep a learning curve to interest me, and with DTS and its Chicane of Death, it's quite similar to being asked to play Russian Roulette eleven times.
 
Wow...my second week of Daily Races (in Race A) and it has been a rough and tumble affair for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed last week in the Copen@Tokyo Expressway...lots of clean running and lap time improvement (and my first win 🏁).

This week tho...brutal in the Diablo@Interlagos. I started up the grid in the first few races and was quickly punted back to the rear of the field (normally on the 1st corner) which was disappointing as I want to race GT7 vs real people and have good competition. I can see that penalties are handed out but that doesn't help me when I am now 12-14 seconds back (and its only a 1 or 2 second penalty to the other driver). Its nothing you all don't know I am sure..it was just such a shock after my experience last week.

I did have two good races at the end of my session last night: one where I led from the first lap with a clean getaway and maintained the lead until the final lap where I was overtaken by another driver who was coming through the field fast (I think his rating was higher but I wasn't really looking at the end), and the other where I was holding a 1sec lead over a similarly paced car and I was having to drive defensive into the corners on the final lap (which was the first time I really tried at that) and we touched when braking into turn 12 and I went just enough onto the grass on the exit to fall behind through 13-15 and just miss out.

I am looking forward to some more races tonight where I can work on my starts (cold tyres and different braking points) and some good close-quarters racing to see where the others are fast.

I sympathize, @auzzy_mate. My first go at this went fairly cleanly towards the start of the pack. The afternoon session today did not go as smoothly when an Argentine after the long front straight went full Leeeeeroy Jenkins into me sending my Diablo flying into the dirt. Went from P6 to P10 thanks to that stunt.

But if racing has taught me anything, it is that consistency and persistence is key. Holding onto my decent and improving pace, I was able to still crawl back up to P6, thanks to the back pack of drivers being so sloppy. It did leave me a bit salty wondering how it would have been if only I hadn’t been punted.

Fwiw, I can get 10 laps on the RMs in the Cayman which allows for a 1st lap undercut while everyone is bunched up and fighting.

Am I just getting all in my head then on the Atenza being bad in the race? When i see people talk about different cars being better I'm assuming big differences? Is 5 laps on RH and the rest on RM in the Atenza only going to b marginally slower than the C4 on RM or are we talking .5 - 1 second a lap?

Nice mate, might try the Ferrari then, i've held off the alt account, got 5k left of DR in A as a buffer to get my head around racing here.

I don't think it's just you - I can't get it to work at all. It's 1.5 seconds per lap slower in qualifying than the G70 for me!

I've set a QT in the G70 almost identical to the last time we had this combo, but it's much easier to drive than it was last time. Must have softer suspension or something, as it's much more planted over the kerbs, particularly through the COD.

True Mate. DT Seaside + Gr.4 + dual racing tyre compounds is always great. In fact, one of my most preferred combos in daily racing.

What I truly love to see & find it amazing every time I race in daily race C is that from lap 1 till lap 10 I'll end up seeing players making a pit stop with either compound. I've not seen such a varied usage of strategy in any daily race till now which is why it's a pleasure to race here, good or bad result that may come!
 
I did about 6 DTS races in the Atenza, the tire wear is not the best but the car is very stable. I suspect that some people who normally drive race B are now trying out race C (30.000 players for race C up until now, against 20.000 for race B). My feeling, not rooted in any science of course, is that race B drivers are generally more hasty to make up places. I've got the feeling they still think you have to win the race in lap 1. I get rear ended a lot, and people just using you as a brake in the corners. An empty track for me is preferable to getting slipstream, as it is in many races for me actually because I'm prone to more errors when driving very closely.

In one race I started on the 'wrong' medium tires. Everybody pitted quite early, so I was driving up front on my own. I had a lovely drive with very consistent lap times (only about 1:50:0, but quick enough for me). The lap times only dropped by a tenth or so each lap because of fading tires, meaning I didn't make any grave mistakes. At the end I still only finished P8, but I gained DR because there were several DR A drivers in the lobby and even an A+ driver. So this, in theory, less quick tire strategy was in fact maybe quicker because in my lobbies people fight more than working together.

I’m enjoying myself again in the alt account, I think I may just go back to the main and drop out of A I’m clearly only competitive there in the odd race and don’t belong there.

Probably racing at a lower level won’t do me any good long term in my battle to stay in A.

I think I’ve just plateaued skill wise and that’s it.

You on the other hand are rapid mate and giving Glen a run for his money 😁 god going!
