GT7 Daily Race Discussion

Did a bunch of A races Saturday morning, and had a great time. Unfortunately none of this weeks races really appeal to me. I might run some laps at spa to continue trying to get back up to speed, but i suck tremendously at that track, so i won't be racing. The race A combo is definitely not for me, and i can't stand fwd race cars, so no race C either.

I guess I'll focus on the time trials this week.

Remember friends I was talking about one toxic player 3 days back who kept ramming into many players including myself race after race. Guess what, he was there in the first race(Race C) I took part in.

I was in P2 & he was on P5. Already after the start, he punted P4 & P3 onto the gravel at T1. Luckily, I already had a gap + he got a 5 second penalty. The gap remained constant of 10 seconds till the pit stop window. Here I was comfortably in P2 & without him, I would've finished there too.

So I knew that he always starts on the softer compound for better acceleration & grip to punt people left, right & center. I was waiting for him to pit knowing he is on softs. He didn't pit in the coming few laps so I then pit at end of lap 11. He still doesn't pit & he's in the lead now. Instead of driving on, he slows down for others to catch him & then he side punts players one by one. When I reached upto him, I just slowed down enough so he doesn't hit me. I let others pass who would get punted or just miss his antics.

At the end, I finished in P6 (where a easy P2 was on the cards) just because of that ............. Imagine, the first race of the day & this mad man is there to screw the mood & day. Wish I could report him directly to PD & Kaz even because he's just a threat to everyone's race & peace of mind. I wanted to play a few Race C's but after seeing him already in the first race, I skipped to Race B instead.

P.S. - The player I'm talking about is in P9 in the screenshot. He probably plays Race C only as his ridiculous antics can be played for a longer duration. If any of You guys see him on the grid, be very weary of him.

After my day's racing got off to a crap start, at least a good end to the day!

I spent a good amount of laps (Race C) trying to find a sweet spot with my Torque & sensitivity + brake balance as I've just finished 33 days on my G29. I was able to lower my PB to 1:23:928 which at that time put me in 502nd rank. Had I nailed my optimal, I would've been 189th. And crazy still, this happened on my 40th lap of running.

I believe all this short term glory is also because it's just the 2nd day of the new week of dailies. Times will get faster & more players will participate in TT just to set a fast time. I did this because not just with this race but every daily race, it's beneficial in more ways than one to start in the top 5. The chaos in the midfield & below is as good as race ending situation. Anyway, am stoked with this TT.

Meant to keep wearing splint for a week - but driving GT7 with reduced FFB and steering angle feels ok, as long as no opposite lock required 🤔

Every time I come back to Sport Mode, I am reminded why it has gone downhill for me.

For the love of all that is holy, the penalties HAVE to be addressed. Is this the worst they have ever been?

I started 3rd last night, got the perfect launch, slipped between 1st and 2nd, and the dude on pole decides that he doesn't like this. He slams me into the 2nd place car, then spins me, then punts me off of turn 1 while I am spinning. I can see that he got a minor penalty for that.

Then, on the next lap, I get punted off turn 1 again, but this time I get the short cut penalty 👍

Later, I go up the inside of another driver who has lost control. He hits me, then slides off track. I get a 3 second penalty for forcing a car off track. 👍

If they can't get it right, remove them altogether OR crank up the severity like they did back in the early days of GT Sport. The penalty for being terrible is insufficient and those who are trying to be decent suffer.

I have suffered a little of this today in Race A which I’m still enjoying by the way.
Like you Voodoovaj, I was rear ended 😳3 times and then (had no option) smashed into the car in front which I was penalised for forcing another car off the track.
Last race this morning on T3 a guy ahead lost control and spun sideways as I went passed and forced me off, he bounced back and I still got a 3 second penalty 🫣.
My DR is going up but my SR is now high A so need to throw a couple of races away to prevent SR freefall and end up on the naughty step with all the naughty 👿 drivers. 🤠

Couple of good races for me including placing 5th in a lobby with a couple of notable names.
Was also in a race with Hizal but only placed 9th in that, yet I still got a DR boost. A couple of extra pixels added to the progress bar.

I think bump draft has a place on a track like Daytona but majority of tracks it just means you are too close at a given corner with the guy/gal your drafting with. 🤪🤠

I see cars these days with a sticker that says "if you're going to ride my a** at least pull my hair" - might add that to a livery at some point.

The issue is that still these dailies will be played despite the disappointment. It's been always a car or 2 cars stealing the show each race each week. Hoping the update this week sorts out the BoP.

As per Tidgney's videos, one more thing (apart from many) that needs to get sorted out is the rolling starts. Tracks such as Spa or LM reverse where if You're 10th or below, You need to negotiate the (bus stop)chicane as the race starts whereas those in front are already zooming away on the pit straight.

Totally agree. I solve that for myself by not playing them. That's the only agency I have. I also agree that rolling starts at many tracks are bad and need to be adjusted. Maybe bunch the field up more or set tracks like Spa to start on the 24 hour line not the F1 line

It’s frustrating to nail a great lap and then seemingly never again touch those heights. I have had this pattern repeat, mainly after watching and trying to replicate great laps by other racers, getting too focused on hitting a brake marker while bungling a separate fundamental like entry angle. Making good use of another’s lap or lap guide is almost a skill unto itself.

Racing is as much or more about the feel of the flow than the intellect.
