I did a few more laps earlier this evening and a got a new time of 2.03.3XX for Race B in the McLaren. I'm thinking that should put me up near the front of the field. It turns out my oil was worn so that robbed me of some power for sure. Check your oil everyone!

I got a 2:02.6 time for B which I thought was ok. First race with a mix A/B lobby and that was only good enough for 9th starting.

Second race with an all B lobby snd it was good enough for 5th.

There’s some fast times out there…

Also oil should not matter as the race is BoP.

You can do Suzuka in a little bit more than a minute? :-D

Race C is actually a lot of fun. Presently, running fm: 3 on the 458, driving it pretty hard, and ending the race with 1/2 A lap of fuel. Average lap time is about 1:57 ish

Have to admit ... 15 laps, with no tire restrictions would have been sweet. It really is a fun track to whip a car around.
No need to use Fuel maps, short shift around half the rev bar. The Ferrari is good for that and much faster than using fuel maps

I agree with @RacingGrandpa - stay closer to the inside, and let the others go sliding off the track. For the first day or two, people have a hard time learning that corner (among others). Same with the tight hairpin midway through the track - take the inside, or someone else will, and they'll push you around.
This is all well & good until everyone starts running the same inside lines and the inevitable puntarama breaks out.

Had fun doing some race A yesterday. Got a handful in and although a couple were quite rough, the others were very enjoyable. Even got some good hard and clean racing in with some great side by side and bumper to bumper action. Was a little surprised by how much i enjoy the combo tbh, but it is really good.

I just wish PD would wake up and turn the A race DR/SR back on.

Had a birthday to tend to yesterday so knew I wasn't going to have time to run any races, which was no big deal because I'm not a fan of Suzuka. Apparently I need to change that to I 'wasn't' a fan...lovin' this track for some reason. I only say that because it's been my nemesis for so long. This is the first time running here on '7 so maybe it's the physics changes that have made it more, uhhh, manageable? Not sure. And, of course, I pick the day wherein I have ZERO time to enjoy this new found fun...

Then I did something really stupid, I decided to go racing after running a whopping six laps of practice. Figured outcome be damned, I gotta get at lest one in. Started P3 in an early morning 'blobby' that ranged from A+ to C with equal parts Sr disparity. Great race, hands shakin' the whole damn time and all. Was able to keep my 💩 together long enough to cross the line P4. Given I parked at the beach for a minute, was stoked with the result. Promptly turned the game off to end on a high note.😁

Autopolis looks/feels like it's gonna be a blast. Was able to set a decent qualifier (for me) in the Jag' so am hoping I can carve out some time to go racing on that one this week, too.

See y'all out there!!

Well happy birthday, mine is the 24th of this month. Lol, that's cool our birthdays are in the same month. Oh, we're dealing with Autopolis again? I haven't played gt7 in 4-5 days so idk what events are taking place in Sport mode this week.

I did my first B races last night. The first was chaos, in part by my driving. The second was perfection until this happened last lap, with me in 4th!

Gran Turismo® 7_20230904234037.jpg

Race 1. Mixed A/B lobby and my 2:02.791 QT was only good enough for 9th. The race was carnage. Cars were going off left and center. To do well all you had to do was stay on track. Alas I didn't :banghead: Up to 5th lap 1, then off last turn, down to 7th. Back to 6th and spun avoiding a ghost last turn lap 2 down to 12th. What is it with that last turn in the race? In hindsight I should have just driven through the ghost and not tried to drive around it and I would not have spun out. Back to 9th in esses only to go off again! That was my fault for drifting onto grass. Down to last. After that clean and worked my way back to 10th thanks to attrition ahead. Shaky start to my DR ranked races but was a net 0 in the end.

Race 2. Full B lobby. An improved 2:02.620 time had me QT 5th. This was a very clean race and very different to race 1. There was no change in the top 5 until lap 4, turn 13 when P3 goes wide. His rejoining caused P4 to slow allowing me to get along side on the straight. I out chickened him at the fast turn 15 to go fourth. And then just after we cross the line to start the last lap our session disconnects. Never had that happen to me before.

Video is times to start at the interesting stuff and disconnect.

I feel cheated! I want my 4th place points but at least it did not record any loss of points for DNF. As far as GT is concerned this race never happened.

Before these races I did 3 races As. Those were fairly fun but I wish they were ranked DR/SR events. I may have played them some more with the SR keeping some of the more enthusiastic moves in check but alas three's enough. I'd rather have ranked races.

Yes and no. What it will stop is the people who think that just because they got inside, they don't have to consider anyone who is on the outside. Or if they misjudge their speed, they won't be elbowing you off the track semi-unintentionally.

Trust me, I use this tactic all the time, and it works.

Snuck in an extra Race C last night. Decided to qualify after my earlier dramas and ended up with a 1:53.7. Started 4th in a mostly B/S lobby and had a great race to second. The track is really fun and challenging in equal measure once you get the hang of it. Sticking in the Supra for now which isn’t a car I’ve used heavily before (I think I bought it to try on the Watkins Glen Gr4 TT) but it’s a really nice drive!

How are people getting on with suspension tuning options in Race B? Is anyone making any adjustments, or just leaving well alone?
What! Where have I been 🫣 like total suspension tuning not just the brake balance? Does a differential count as a part of the suspension? Asking about in the game and in real life race series 🤔🍻

It also ensures that if they do punt you, from behind, they get a penalty

Again, there's an article posted to the front page (and into this thread) of GTPlanet with all the details every Monday morning. And a video.

Clearly, the way racing incidents are viewed is subjective.
I did a couple of Watkins Glen races yesterday, and they were pretty good.
There was an incident where I got a little piece of someone's rear bumper getting into turn 2.
I didn't mean to do it, but I thought it was relatively harmless. The other driver then made it a point to run me into the turn 3 wall.

Of course I called him out after the race.
He said "You drove right over the top of me, bro"
Well, like I said, a single incident can be viewed many different ways. :indiff:

It's amazing how sensitive some people are 🤷‍♂️

Contact is always going to happen but it's mostly taps and rubs. No harm no foul.

Essentially harmless racing incident, somehow warrents getting rubbed out, ffs. People are way to sensitive and willing to lash out. For all he knows you were gonna ease up a tiny bit so he get back in front, not that you should have, I've done it though if i am in a good mood.

People do not know how-to behave when they are not alone on the track sometimes. Especially in race A. Please PD can we get active ratings back these races

So far in my attempts at tuning I have not made the car drive any better so I have left it on default for now. I will test more though the week as I will probably stick with race B this week - might try C later on one people have figured out the preferred car for the race. BTW, I'm getting on well with the 4C there but I have not idea on how its fuel consumption goes in a race. Ideas?

Had someone overtake me on the straight and then immediately pull in front and hit their brakes. I had no time to react and I punted them into Narnia. I did not get a penalty. I actually think the penalty system realized it was a bad move on their part and they got what they deserved! :D

Incident starts at 3:10

Looking back I think they brake at the "assist recommended" 75m mark where as I don't even consider braking for that turn until I am well past the 50m mark.

How is the fuel strategy for the Supra? I'm concerned with this race as the cars I like to drive there are nowhere on the leaderboard (4C) and I do not like the F-type or 458 at Autopolis.

I have not tried the Supra there yet.

so I can jump into race B and leave everything at default and the car should still be competitive?
Yes.

Potentially you can make the car more over or understeer-y with damper tuning that might give you a few thousandths here and there if you know what you are doing but you might make it worse as well. So far I am have been happy with stock set up and just changing my brake bias to be more rearward focused (+2) to make the car more active in the turns.

I would like someone to take a look at this 1 minute clip.
For me this is a clear cut racing incident. Maybe he thought so too but he quit immediately so I don't know.
I don't think he did anything wrong and I don't think I did anything wrong. We just misjudged each other
What do you think?

I would just say racing incident. It looks like braking points were incompatible between cars. Technically, he misjudge but perhaps your 'vette needs to brake earlier than his car so it's just one of those things.

Last night on my races, daily C was a push to pass fest.
A real nightmare.
Im tired of a move wich is gaining more and more adepts.
Im talking when in straight line you close the inside to legally defend your position and someone decides that put two wheels on the grass to force an inside gap that dont exist is something possible.
Im not a vengeful person but sometimes on that situations my first reaction is "Ok smart boy, lets end the race for the both of us" and squeeze him into the wall :D
