Well it looks like my racing week is over whether I want it or not. Figured I would give it a couple of races this morning just to see if I was just having a bad day yesterday and to see if I did any better after a sleep. Seems GT7 has got the hump and won't let me even try as I get a message:. An unexpected error has occurred PE-2F001F8 and I can't join any daily.

Sigh ..... I want to like and enjoy this game I really do but I might just step away until it's actually out of its beta test and is a feature complete and stable product. I haven't posted a metacritic review but at the moment I think it really does deserve it's user score.

Edit: going to leave this up but it seems like an issue related to 9.50 firmware update

I drove race C the last two evening. Rating A/S. Were clean races and with the Gr.4 on Autopolis lovely to drive. But with a higher fuel management it would been even better this week. For me a must have race c with a pit stop,
I dont really get the choice to include fuel and tires in C this week, as both are a non factor.

I had a great race yesterday, could not catch up with the guy in 1st though, he was fast af, then he pitted on lap 6.. So easy win for me, hehe.

I'm getting the same, annoying as it was working earlier on.

I am wondering if it's a PlayStation network issue even though their network status says all is fine. I only subbed to ps plus for the month as I wasn't sure if I was sticking around. Tried to turn off auto renew on console and it's just stuck on please wait. Went to website and I can't even sign in as the connection times out so I can't even log in to turn it off there.

Clearly I can use the internet and have run Forza 5 online with no issues this morning but just can't do anything PlayStation related at the moment apparently.

EDIT:. Done some digging this seems to be a issue related to the 9.50 firmware update screwing something up for both PS4 & PS5. Users on pushsquare website reported same issue can't connect to any online game seems to be unable to verify valid PlayStation plus subscription. Sigh

I feel like race B & C should be the other way around, C is a bit of a snoozer 10laps without any strategy, the order shakes out and the gaps just grow ahead and behind.

B feels like a sprint race which encourages more dirty driving in my opinion, that said, im still enjoying B, the NSX handles well here even without brake bias changing and it even feels a bit faster on the straights than sport! Though maybe the RCZ is just slower?

Slightly off topic but if daily races aren't crossplay, do we know if open lobbies are?

I did a couple race B yesterday. I'm actually liking Interlagos a lot more in GT7, it feels better. I'm driving the Viper SRT which handles nicely on Interlagos. However despite being in SR.S, races are often messy and passes often rewarded with a penalty.

I saved all he penalties I got yesterday and one where I should have got a penalty but didn't

Also 2 ignoring track limit penalties in there, I go wide to avoid trouble but that's 1.5 or 1.0 sec penalty.

Some harsh contact penalties in there but the track limits ones are fair, theres still space and you've gone miles off, I'd have given you a track limits at 2:03 as well for overtaking off the track

Is 3:10 really an S lobby taking a corner together? Looks more like the local dodgems

Did anyone noticed some players not serving penalties despite of having on over their name? I don’t know if it’s a visual glitch or if they’re just not serving the penalties on the first time they go through the penalty zone.

Yeah, depending on when you get the penalty you sometimes don't serve it till the next lap. It can be a bit inconsistent at times though, I had a penalty several corners before the penalty zone on interlagos and didn't serve it till the next lap. Probably something to do with the point in the track where you get warned about being forcibly slowed down, if you're already past it maybe that's what dictates whether or not you will serve it that lap.

It is different for sure. There's less understeer for starters, the cars in 7 have a ton of grip. You feel it most in the last sector, you can blast through the second last corner full tilt now and the last corner is far, far, far easier to navigate. There's more grip there and less understeer.

The one corner that I am having issues with is the big stop at turn 3 (or is it 4?), the one after the Senna S. I cannot seem to quite get the same turn in and the car pushes more but the kerb has more grip.

I'm not that into the tuning but would like to be able to change some basic things, like downforce, set brake balance before race.....nothing major. I am loving the RCZ in Race B, i'm not that good at oversteery cars but i'm slowly getting used to it. Race C is boring as hell, has anyone had an awesome race at Autopolis ?.....and the Nations Cup Races froze/crashed/failed 3 times in a row for me....

Ah you edited your post lol......i can vaguely remember what it did say as it was a point i was gonna make. The setup guides the YT Creators make have sadly ended up being for ones that are the most competitive, but i'd have loved a guide on how to make something other than the Mazda or the Audi faster at Daytona....but maybe there was no way to make any other car other than 2 i mentioned work.
I had some great races in the 911 RSR. I mounted a mid rev turbo, that brought me way over the limit so had to lower effect on both ECU and Power Restrictor. But had a very flat torque curve and could run 276 km/h on the oval part. Stable through the bus stop too.
It was good on fuel too, could run FM1 full tilt and pit at lap 6

Edit: I lowered downforce, I lowered camber and toe-in, all gives better speed

I did it again. 4 race Bs with bad oil until I realised what was happening. It’s a killer at interlagos because that last left turn up the hill you just lose so much time with weak acceleration, I thought I was just getting a bad exit! Unfortunately it meant I was getting hit, and I was hitting people because it seems to just slightly affect braking and handling. It’s weird; it’s a subtle hit to performance that adds up across the lap.
As a result I got some penalties, some earnt, some not and I went down to the A/B rooms then to all B. I don’t know if it was my DR or SR that was taking a hit (the whole time I stayed A/S but likely on the cusp), but two races in B lobbies and two 3 star wins; then last race of the evening back to the lobby I started in Judging by the names.
About 10 races total and I didn‘t even earn enough to buy my rcz a full suite of tyres!

Remind me never to play on my American account. These races look brutal.

It means you have to take it easy on the first lap cus of cold tyres.

So I'll be happy out get of of DR C and up with the real boys. My pace seems to be improving and going by the the quali times I've seen in YT vids, if I can shave another half second off, I'd be competitive in DR A. So I'm quite excited by that.

But for the meantime I'm stuck in DR C and it's erm.... interesting. So many races I've been spun out and it's impossible to pass back up through the field without incident. People are still just way too unpredictable. I'm really trying to nail qualifying to give me a chance at the front of the pack - which helps a lot. But one mistake, one punt, and you can kiss goodbye to a pole finish.

Been using the NSX for both B and C races. Not an ideal car, but a car I personally like IRL, so I got them both delivered when I entered the Manufacturers cup. Unfortunately I cannot compete in that cup because the race times are too late in the day for my time zone.

It is absolutely essential to get the best qualifying time possible. The difference between starting top 5 and bottom 15 is enormous.

Use whatever car you want in the races, but I suggest setting your qualy time with the meta car. Sometimes it's worth a tenth or two which in A rooms can be a ten-place difference on the grid.

The DR A rooms are weird at the moment. Why am i getting put in rooms with people with 95k DR when I’ve got 35k. (As of day of transfer). You get a two tier lobby as they are just so insanely consistent. They have to be really scraping around to fill a room which is strange for such a new game.

Yeah, but I'm also trying let go of caring about DR. I just want to race. And in GTS I would end up spending HOURS hot lapping trying to get pole quali times so that I'd have the best chance. This time I'm just jumping in races gung ho, sometimes even without any practice or quali. I figure I'd rather just race and over time DR will sort itself.

If however, racing in these lower tiers continues to be this bad I may have to rethink that strategy. But for the meantime I'm giving people the benefit of the doubt and hoping that in a few weeks people will have a better handling of the physics, and those who don't will be in slower splits than I.

Oh and I can't afford to be buying meta cars atm :embarrassed:

I don't dispute the track limit penalties, I went far wide on purpose as I was expecting the car struggling on the kerbs to come veering my way any moment. Second one I wanted to stay away from the rubbing. The amount and the inconsistency is annoying though. 1.5 sec is 4 sec loss on the straight and more severe than what people get for punting a car off...

Plus lots of people keep cutting T2 by a huge amount who you then have to avoid as they rejoin the track in T3. No penalties for that.

And yes that's SR.S on ps5 lol. I'm only DR.C though on GT7, lost quite a lot of DR with all the crashes and bugged races. It doesn't seem to come back, but I also haven't qualified yet and finish mid pack in very mixed lobbies.

Today I've been racing on ps4, more mixed DR and SR races but cleaner than on ps5. I finish top 5 on ps4, more credits, easier to keep crb, better place to race lol.

Anyway now I've compared non qualifying races, it's time to put in a time and see what starting mid pack is like in GT7 with a dodgy penalty system :/

It's split between ps4 and ps5, and you don't make any credits doing online races (20K to 30K per hour).

Most people are still busy with the single player content and grinding for credits :/

Edit: I put in a quali time (low effort, I get bored after lap 2 lol) started 5th and won the race with CRB. 25.8K credits for a clean victory. It's quite a bit more than not qualifying and finishing mid pack for avg 10K, yet you can get 270K grinding fish ranch for 20 minutes. (So I guess the ranch will be nerfed further )

That's the best advice for anyone doing any daily races, spending time doing lots of time trial will benefit you enormously

Joined race a today for my first online race with gt7. Due to the server lag I punted someone I didn’t know was there (felt like a dick plus got a penalty but I guess the penalty was deserved).

Was in second going into last turn when I got punted. After the race saw it was a guy with an SR rating in an otherwise all S SR split. I guess they are really short of players.

Got matched with SR B’s today with the majority being S. I’m DR D, are the servers and player count really that bad right now?

Unsurprisingly this person was bashing everyone mid corner off Tsukuba.

Was it around 10pm? Sounds like my race

My friend, it is not helpful to start a race without training and good times, especially since the penalties in GT7 are significantly higher than in GTS. In GTS, as a fast driver, you could still cheat your way through the traffic reasonably well and often take advantage of it when there were 2-3 slower drivers in front of you who were so engrossed in their duels that you could easily pass them with a clean line. But not infrequently one is blocked and it is very difficult to reach good places. Better take a little more time for a good qualifying. It doesn't have to be the best time right away, but you should at least be able to start in the front third. This makes life a lot easier for you and in the rules the fast drivers are usually the drivers who can/want to drive cleaner, but they can also defend better :D

I think defending only really works in the higher DR rated races, if you defend in the lower rated races you're just lining yourself up to be punted off at the first available low speed corner!

Maybe it's because I was on late last night but it's like everyone had been drinking - had a clean race C & was fighting a Mustang for 3rd for the last half of the race then got punted on the final lap at the first corner by a car we'd just lapped at the start of the straight! 🤣

Oh that would be news to me that a lapped car can still cause "damage". In GTS it was at least not possible to push one of these drivers out after being lapped. I hope PD will solve this problem in GT7.

Been having fun this week in the WRX in race B, good straight line speed makes it a very nice race car even if it's not on the ultimate pace of the RCZ's that dominate the lobbies I'm in.

Always nice to see other cars make an apperance though, the 90's Supra appeared in one race I was in and really surprised me with how quick it seemed, one more lap and I'd have been overtaken by it.
