Been a nice little challenge trying to get good results in race B in something that isn't a Supra. 2016 AMG is doing me pretty solid right now, scored a few podiums using it (and have finally recovered the DR from the shambolic Suzuka punt-fest of last week).

Plan to try the Mustang next, as I set my quali time in it (2:17.850) but I imagine it gobbles fuel like I gobble food on Chinese takeaway night.

The V12 Aston Martin wont get you pole in qualy times but in a race, it's actually great. Very nimble, takes corners like a champ and excellent on fuel. About 8mph slower than a Supra in top speed but makes up for it in the corners and then some!

Ran 3 laps at mostly map 4 except the straight after au rouge and the back straight (dialed up to 3) and then last 2 laps on maps 2 and 3. I even did sectors 2 and 3 of the final lap in fuel map 1 and managed fastest lap. Worth a try

Hey Leon, gladly.. you know how to reach me. You're on our Discord too, aren't you? In my opinion, if you want to practice Trailbrake, nothing beats CE.. tons of different cars and tests and having friends on the list who keep giving you better times... that motivates... at least me.

Thanks again. A report, and a question:

The trailbraking works great. I did some qualification hotlaps for Race C (with the Audi, of course), completely concentrating on the trailbraking, and getting in and out of it, and, what do you know, within half an hour I had improved my laptime by more than two seconds to a low 2:04, almost cracking 2:03, with still some tenths to be found. Global ranking around P 1800, couldn't believe it. Now I have to internalize it, practicing as long as it takes to not have to think about it anymore.

I couldn't carry that progress over to Gr3, Race B yet: I still suck at Spa. And with Gr3 cars, generally.

Yes, I have downloaded the Discord app, made an account, but I haven't had the time to do anything with it. But I will, hopefully soon.

And the question, it just answered itself. CE means circuit experience, right? Only problem is, I don't have any friends so far. 🤣

Thanks a lot, I will do that, as soon as I have found out how (never done PS online stuff before). But I doubt that my times will be much of a challenge. :)
 
Those above who are old school, so I saw someone still using X and box, you can sorta trail brake, sorta. Brake hard initially and turn into the corner at the same time, just before understeer bites modulate the brake so she keep turning in. Its subtle and not as good as a wheel but can sorta be done.

It is good to highlight the problems so that PD actually fixes the pp system. If you read my previous comments, I said it shouldn't be possible to get some cars work with the ride height tweaking.

The game does not differentiate between different ride heights of the cars, therefore I am doing nothing wrong, opposite to what some of you seem to imply. Therefore it is pointless to moan about this.

If some F1 teams used a turbocharged V8 when FIA forgot to ban the engine, is it the teams fault? No. It is literally the same thing.

You can use the meta cars, or don't use those. Up to you. But don't moan about the meta users then when you are not yourself using a meta car. That is your choice and a meta user is not doing anything illegal. What is not illegal is allowed. Bad sportsmanship is ramming and such. Using any legal car that the rules allow is not bad sportsmanship.

Weird post my guy. I’m trying to remember the part where I accused you of being a cheat or something to illicit this sort of response.

You can use an exploit if PD fails to close the loophole, sure, you’re not a bad person for playing with the rules been given. However, other players are allowed to comment in good faith on how that exploit might be detrimental to the nature of the game.
 
Really enjoy my days racing today, started again with a new account back at DR E rank and just had fun while racing. Within 11 races I’ve managed to get up to DR C rank. My fun could be over soon.

Race C is a hit with me. Nice to see strategy involved and to some varied strategies too from others. Most of my races today have been on this. Every race I’ve started at the back as not set a quali time, and I’ve enjoyed the challenge of battling to the front. All my races on Daily C I’ve finished in the top 4. Couple 3rd places, a single 4th place and the rest 2nd place. Missed out just on 1st twice.

Race B been fun too. Did a couple of races from the back but now set a quali lap. Picked up a win on this track in the Hyundai. Picked the Aston Martin and was wiped out at Eau Rouge by a WRX thinking they could sneak up the corner. Plus the Aston very poor on fuel. AMG & Hyundai two decent machines.

How many races have you done? Ive done 11 races in total and im now at DR C. Also I’ve only had one race win so I’m not sure how your still D/S since we race this afternoon?

If you start pole and win the race do you get maximum DR points? Majority of my races I’ve started towards the back and and finished in top 3, so do the overtakes gain me more points and climb the rankings quicker?

8 races, 6 wins, 5 poles and 6 fastest laps and 6 clean races. Promoted to C after last one with an S sportsmanship rating

Well, I can rent the white one for training at least, but I'm sure it will be available for racing as well. The white and the black have significant differences in handling and gearing.. the white, the RaceCar, is more stable than the test car.

Ok, I was able to rent it for a Sport mode race. Don't know why I didn't think I could.

But, I think I "solved" the MR car ridiculous oversteer issue... turn on the ASM (don't even know what this does) and put the counter steer to max. I turned them both on and don't even feel bad aout it. The cars are still bad and understeer like crazy, but I did some Sport mode races and it all but stopped the slow speed spinning.

I tried out the Ferrari, Ford GT 18, Lambo, Audi, and NSX. Almost won the race in the NSX. :lol: I mean, it was a C lobby but starting in 10th and coming within a second of winning in the NSX?! Probably would've won it had someone not been blocking me on the straights.

I'm reading your conversation with great interest, as it might be highlighting my biggest driving weakness: trail braking. As I have played GT for twenty years (and the last five years not at all), always with strictly digital controls (X/square buttons) for throttle and brakes, I've switched to the analog method on the controller. Throttle control came quite naturally after some hours of getting used to it, but my braking is still mostly panic mode: Oh my god, corner ahead, slam it. And so I still go through a lot of corners with the wrong speed. Maybe a reason for my inability to be fast enough on a track like Spa with fluid turns. I'll have to work on that.

Buuuttt, maybe I should learn MT first. Both at once will not work, my brain is to old for that. What do you guys think, might proper brake control give me more improvement in terms of lap times, or is the manual gearshifting more important?

Hey Mr.Kowalski I’d say you should go all in and activate Hardcore Mode aka. Using MT AND ANALOG INPUTS simultaneously.
Your old Brain should still be able to adapt pretty quickly and you’ll soon find yourself TrailBraking like a young God 😁
Honestly, it’s not that much of a hassle. Give it some time to get used to the new Motoric capabilities which will come automatically as soon as your ripe synapses get used to the newly learned habits.
It’s all about Practice and I guarantee you if you love playing Racing Games or whatever you do, if you do it with passion and patience you’ll improve naturally and most importantly you’ll have fun.
Much more than you most probably ever had. No Pain no gain 💪🏻
 
I've done a bunch runs at race C today at DR A level and they were all really fun. It helps that I have a quali time that puts me in the top 2 so I don't really get close to too many drivers, but the ones I interact with on track have been clean and fun.

Had a great battle in one race for first 4 laps... I was pressuring the guy into making mistakes... his car (Silvia) was good on straights and my car (Megane) was good in corners so it was a fun battle staying in his draft the entire 4 laps, but the Megane just didn't have the HP to pass on straights. At the end of lap 4 he made an error and went wide hitting the "speed bump". I thought he might come across track and made a split decision while moving to the left side of track to just quickly pit -- since it was in window -- unfortunately I clipped the entry line and got a 3 second penalty. After the pit cycle and my penalty the guy was 2.5 secs ahead of me and pretty much we kept that gap the entire race... what could have been. lol.

Anyway, enjoying race C so far this week.
 
Rough time at Spa for me this evening. Like yesterday, I'm one of a few B rank drivers and I'm so far behind the race pace that it wasn't any fun. Add to that the drivers who lunge and stick their nose in and force you outside, and I was not having a good time. I also got shoved wide going into Eau Rouge towards Raidillon. I think they quit before the race was over so thanks for that dummy. A P12 and a P10 start result in consecutive P15 finishes. I was also having a terrible time with going wide and braking late everywhere. just a total mess on track. So, I'm done for the week as I can't keep pace at Spa. That and I'm going on a short vacation to the Carolinas.
 
I'm kinda torn on Race C this week (have set a good quali time 2.02.8).....on one had it's good that the high tyre & fuel wear brings cars other than the 4WD's to the forefront in the race....but still everyone naturally is gravitating towards certain ones (in this case the Silvia).

Also setting a quali lap time in a car that you'd be crazy to pick for the race is a bit weird.......

Hopefully next week PD will revert back to settings that allow the 4WD cars to dominate time trial AND the race (so i can 'falsely' improve my DR)

Haven't tried the AMG but the supra, although fast, is quite thirsty and it understeers too much for my liking. My go to car is the porsche so far, only need some short shifting for the first 2 laps and then i can go almost flat out for the rest. I have been catching quite a few Supras napping towards the end of the races.
Oh and they need to fix the GR3 NSX, it's unrealistically hard to take Eau rouge with it. Either I take it flat out but am susceptible to exceed track limits, or I lift even a little bit and the car will lose the rear end. I like the way it rotates in the other fast corners but again, Eau rouge is too hard in that thing.

Yea this has been my favorite combo so far. I've had some absolutely amazing good clean races.

I'm kinda torn on Race C this week (have set a good quali time 2.02.8).....on one had it's good that the high tyre & fuel wear brings cars other than the 4WD's to the forefront in the race....but still everyone naturally is gravitating towards certain ones (in this case the Silvia).

Also setting a quali lap time in a car that you'd be crazy to pick for the race is a bit weird.......

I say just enjoy it, you can't control what car other players are using. We're all competitive and most are going to use whatever they're the most comfortable in and gives them the best chance to do well. This is a cracking combination and produces some excellent racing.

I'm glad you've had positive results in such a short time.

Here are my thoughts/feelings on the game:

GR3s tend to respond faster and more violently to any input, including braking.
My general tip is to increase the volume of tire noise significantly above anything else, then you can hear better and understand what your tires are doing.
Just like in real life... Squeaky tires are usually at or above their limit. Try to drive AND brake/steer in such a way that you hear as little or no squeaking from your tires as possible. It can help with braking, e.g. just NOT to give 100% pressure, but only 60 to 80%... watch the "brake indicator" on the screen... the white bar is your braking force (or what I suspect even more the force that the tires bring to the asphalt when decelerating), as soon as you see the red pulsing there, your ABS is working and when it works, you have less braking power AND therefore a longer braking distance.

Sleeper of a machine, no real weaknesses. Have only had a couple of cracks at B so far, in the Supra and Corvette, both were okay but a lot of fuel management needed. How's the Hyundai do on that?

Please, PD, I beg you, just make suspension and diff and gear tuning not affect PP. Parts, yes. Tuning, no. Why is this so hard to understand? The PP system is so close to being good, it just falls apart at this final hurdle.

So the PP must match the real properties on the track as much as possible.

No racing team would change a car sooo much just to have more engine power.

I think the best thing would be an addition to the PP that includes a "power-to-weight ratio" like:

PP450 + power-to-weight ratio of a maximum of X horsepower per kilo of say 3.5 or 2.7 depending on what fits best.
This means that even large 4x4 trucks can take part, but also very small, light vehicles.

No, you misunderstood what I'm talking about. PP should still consider the car, the parts, and the performance thus affected. But it shouldn't consider any changes to the suspension settings, gear rations, etc. This would get rid of all the silly exploit setups we see any time there's a PP race and your solution wouldn't be necessary.

Every change to the suspension/chassis geometry has and must have an impact on performance, as do changes to the transmission ratios or the locking effects of the differential. But it must not have such a big impact on the PP if I can compensate for the disadvantages with a significant increase in engine power. And that's exactly what's happening right now.. it needs to be worked on. Taking these values completely out of the PP rating is NOT the right way in my opinion.
