Racing on the US account at the moment. Damn its dirty on race B!!. I can make allowances for most things but this is something else. I don't envy my US cousins racing here all the time.

Was low B but dropped to C after finishing dead last 3 times through no fault of my own. Got to laugh really

I just experienced something I've never seen before, and I suspect nobody else has either. The guy I was battling for 2nd starting vanishing from the game right after the finish line, kind of like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" if you ever saw that:

38 second video:

I'm guessing his machine booted him, or froze, or something like that. I'll take P2, but it was literally just given to me. Wow!

I occasionally get disconnected from the server during a race...I've always assumed that is exactly what it looks like and that the driver i was racing had that exact reaction.

Not sure how common that is, but I've always blamed my Starlink internet since it does randomly lose signal for a spit second. Worst case was when I was P1 on the final lap...:irked:

I got a time for Daily Race A that's within the top 2k times, and what I discovered along the way is that having TCS to 1 definitely helps with this car - at least, in my experience. Pretty fun layout, too, even if it's pretty much entirely blind corners.
Yes, TCS is absolutely essential with this car. I was top 1200 but haven't checked for a day or so, so probably not there anymore. I was loving the race and the 1sts I was getting but since I realized it an non DR race I kind of stopped.

I have an EMEA account (brand new account, currently C|S) and it's also dirty in race B. Just sayin'.
Totally agree. Not knocking it in anyway. You guys have the retribution gene. I'm kinda jealous about that. I'm too nice haha.

Sometimes people's internet or whatever crash and they get dropped from the race, even if it's "over." I am guessing that is what happened here. I finished a race in P2 and during the timing screen after the race was over, he the guy who finished P1 disappeared from the list. I ended up getting P1 and credited for the win.

I like to try and make things as real as possible, so I convinced myself his car failed post race inspection and I indeed won it. :D

While we are on the subject on controls and assists; any of you wheel/pedal users driving two footed? I can't do it, my left leg is trained for a clutch, so it doesn't seem capable of the finesse required for braking.
Yes, always been sim-racing like that, so much so in that my first driving lessons I got told off for left foot braking and trying to heel-toe on downshifts. Oops.

Yep, right from day 1 with a wheel/pedal setup. I've owned and driven many manual transmission cars in the real world and my mind easily threw out all real world logic when it came to two footin' in this game.

Not anymore. I used to a long time back for the same reason as you. Only ever owned real cars with three pedals (even the auto cars I drive I use my right foot for gas and brake).

Worth training yourself to use both feet for GT. It's a virtual car with virtual pads and tires so might as well try it out.

When you say two footed you mean left foot brake right foot gas? I started GT7 with the G29/stick and got through the game with the manual/clutch but race online with left foot brake right foot gas. I still prefer true manual when I hot lap or do the Ring. Just a million times more fun to me.

GR4 + Deep forest is amazing, this week show how good is the redesign of Deep Forest.

Some people are dirty but in the overall I had clean and stuning races
Whereas I'm the complete opposite. I hate how they ruined the last sector with the added hairpin as opposed to the sweeping banked left hander it used to be. I understand "they needed an overtaking spot for online play" and putting a hairpin at the end of a long straight is a time tested way of "improving overtaking" while at the same time absolutely ruining the flow of a circuit. Thanks Tilke....
Anyways I'm glad you're liking it!

Learnt to drive in the UK and drove manual for 14 years. After driving stick for a year in the US I realized why autos were so popular. Stick with US road design sucks. I switched to auto and have been that way for 22 years now. Would never go back.

So for sim racing, Left foot braking comes naturally. I tried right foot for braking like the old days with clutch but that feels weird now

I could understand why traditional manual drivers would have an issue with left foot braking. It’s all what your muscle memory gets used to.

That said, I right foot brakes in my real auto cars as well so🤷🏼‍♂️

Yes, left foot brake is what i meant.

Two-footed. I was initially concerned it would affect my real-world driving - you know, get mixed up for a second, and cause an accident. But it doesn't affect me at all. Now, sim racing HAS affected my ability to go around a corner without hitting a curb. I just had to re-train myself to be more careful.

One thing I did do in my rig was to move the brake pedal to the far left of the pedal case, so I have more space between the brake and the gas. I can do that with my relatively new Logitech G Pro pedals. I had to remove the clutch pedal to do it, but since you can't use the clutch in daily races, I didn't mind.

It is ABSOLUTELY worth retraining yourself. You can be a LOT faster with only a little effort. It only took me a day or two before it was second nature. It took longer to remind myself that I could brake anytime I wanted to, the instant I wanted to, rather than account for the time it takes to move my foot from the gas to the brake.

The way I race would probably horrify some of the sim racing elitists. :scared:

Apparently, I do all the worst things.
-I recline on the couch, with my feet stretched out on a coffee table.
-I use a controller, but don't modulate my throttle or brakes. I just go and stop with the X and [ ] buttons.
-I use auto trans almost exclusively. The exception being manual for some low powered street cars.
-I use traction control, counter steering assist, and braking zone markers.
-I chug beers throughout my driving sessions.

To some, it would appear to be a total **** show, but I've actually had more than my fair share of success.
Regardless, I enjoy myself.
Please tell us you don't watch porn at the same time. Well, watching might be OK, but... never mind.

I am a disgrace to DR B drivers everywhere. Earlier I got P1 in a lobby of B/S drivers, and ended up P15. I drove like a complete idiot. I even hit someone from behind and didn't wait for them. I should be ashamed of myself (I am, actually, which is why I'm writing this confessional).

The race that followed, I started P5. I lost control in the esses when I got hit from behind by someone. I ended up P11, and unfortunately took out my aggravation on an innocent driver, who did nothing wrong except dare to pass me when I was pissed off.

These are my sins today (so far). My penance is that I dropped 10 DR B percentage points in 2 races - from 95% to 85%. I'm almost afraid to do another race.

What I remember, and maybe it wasn't you, is seeing you behind me in a lobby. That was the real shock. That was you, right?
It was, and then the next race I was ahead of you. You must have thought I was screwing with you somehow!
I’m pretty sure she was talking about cocaine, right?

Thinking about it for a moment, I just realized that in 37 years of driving in the real world, I haven't ever driven a car with automatic gearbox. Not once.

Well, whatever...😆

The braking with the left foot comes fairly easy when you do some karting. I do that from time to time with my son (father-son stuff, you know...😆), it feels completely natural. And I've never crashed my own car afterwards by mixing up something with the pedals...🥳

I was afraid this was the mass response I was going to get. Bad news is I have tried with no luck before, good news is maybe I have somewhere to improve and pick up some time.

I haven't found much of a difference quality wise from my main UK account and racing on the US account.

I did notice there is a different driving style from the Europeans I race but it's more nuance than different good or bad.

I am only hypothesising here but the spread of player base demographics is probably a lot broader in the US vs the European servers just because of sheer numbers of players in compared.

I've found it generally comes down to the lobby rather than the ratings to be honest. Some lobbies everyone is up for a good race and settle where they settle....other lobbies there are progress heroes who've decided for whatever reason that 3/4/5th isn't good enough....they think race to race than monthly trend, like 10th place is on in a tough lobby, 10 more races in the month and your stats have improved....without the risk taking...

What is reward without practice and boundary pushing? ;)

Just as well you don't have a wheel and pedals for GT7 - given what you said earlier about driving with your legs crossed, you'd be braking with your right foot, and accelerating with the left one!

On a different subject, given your amazing Race C QT, have you done any races yet?

Even my humble QT, using the @praiano63 tune, has given me 3 poles, 3 fastest laps, and 3 wins out of 3 races today - the first time this week I'd dared try the race!

The first two races I finished over a minute ahead of P2.

Well spotted. Yes I would.😆

Yes, I've done eight races so far. Four or five poles, four wins. Some at #lunchbreakracing, some in the evening. I met our forum friends @Barney Da Dog and @djolliea several times.

And I'd like to contradict the YT streamers who called this race an "abomination": it's not. It's actually great fun.

Today at lunchtime I had a great race with @djolliea , who pressured me for the whole race. Rather untypical for me, I brought it home. And later I had my personal best race ever. I started from pole, had a train of three other drivers with very good q times behind me, and for five laps P2 was never further than 4 tenths behind me. Almost the whole race looked like this:

E74428D3-295A-4082-BABF-8795F98B8704.jpeg

In lap 5, T1, P2 had a run on me and tried to pass me on the outside. I gave him space, ready to accept my fate, but he slightly touched the astroturf and went a bit wide. From then on the gap was around one second until the finish. A big relief😆. Must be the first time that I've won a race in a difficult-to-drive car with that amount of pressure, by avoiding any major mistakes. Usually I crumble sooner or later.

Oh, and I use Praiano's tune, too. It's awesome. The gearing in combination with the low-rev turbo is what's doing the magic.🍻

I agree completely with your comment about streamers' opinion of this race!

Btw, that yellow car behind you... It's not a Spaniard by any chance is it? Reminds me of a close competitor I've been having these last couple of days.

Nice quali by the way, Leon.

Thanks mate. No, it's an englishman (or scottish, or welsh, or from northern ireland?🧐). But I think I've met the spaniard you are talking about once or twice earlier this week; his car looked the same.

I've popped the full video on for your consideration though the juicey stuff happens on the final straight. Had a race long battle with the Alfa and despite having an argy bargy at the final hairpin 2 laps prior, it was rather respectable, so I was surprised at the final show of aggression.

Still, I beat him by 0.005 seconds according to the game. If he'd stayed on path he probably would've beat me.

i had this issue too, only ever owned manual cars.. took about a month to train my left foot how to brake, keep at it 🤙🏼 its frustrating for a week or two, then something sorta clicked & it started to work.. didn’t affect my real world driving either 🤙🏼

Nah, it was just the first time I had seen someone improve their time in between races. I mean, we all (hopefully) do it, but it was such an in-my-face example of it. And if memory serves, you improved it by a decent margin, although I could be wrong.
And I've never crashed my own car afterwards by mixing up something with the pedals...🥳
Knock on wood.
Speed up with right finger, slow down with left finger.
I drive with my fingers too! Sometimes I use both hands at the same time. Wait, you probably meant on the controller, right? I thought we were talking IRL.

sometimes when I have a particularly good race I'll spin up some qualifying and see if I can improve based on how I drove the race. Doesn't happen often but does happen

You and @djolliea have been doing great! I've had some very enjoyable races - I'm very new to tuning and have gone the wrong way on several occasions (and then forget what I've done before :banghead: )

I don't have a Sileighty or 180, and I can't get along with the 15 model, so I'm just using the 94. I'm ok through the twisty bits but get caught easily on the straights.
