Yesterday's challenging and fun Race 5, but with super special awesome Takagi-san livery, instead of whack default ingame livery:

Work together?

So basically a penalty-filled race with any minimal wall contact being punished, regardless of being pushed into it or not. Plus damage and loss of DR/ SR - no thanks!
I second this, gr3 around Tokyo seems a very bad idea but I’ll give it a go 😁

Hopefully the race A will be a banger with some road cars so that will be the fall back

I must admit I missed this and also in the article, looks a bit of a plum week but let’s see,

To be honest in the tuned cars in both the nations and the daily we had it for A it was really solid fun and weirdly not has chaotic as you’d expect.

I think the things with the Armco circuits it’s there isn’t a lot places to be dirty without potentially nuking yourself, and barriers clips even without actual pens are like a .5 speed wise. I went anti meta with the Porsche if you remember and won 3 nations races and a load when it was the daily (unranked sadly)

I’m all for them turning into peaches, it’s the best kind of week for me, the unexpectedly great week 😉

I don’t do any of them nations or manufacturers races so it’s all a little lost on me, I think I did ages and ages ago on with a super formula at Suzuka, having a great race a winning when I got tagged so I thought, ‘screw this’ 🤣

I’ll go back to 4/5 lap races 😁

Super excited to see what next week brings 🤞

Yay I'm DR A after one week online :) Not sure if I can reach A+, drivers of that rank I met had quali times in the 1.56s at Maggiore, I can't go bellow 1.57.3.
It’s those last few 1/100ths that separate the men from the boys ability wise, but that’s only one side of the equation it’s how you race and decision making that is the other half ;)

Good luck and good speed friend!

Would love Race A to be old race cars, maybe the Maserati or a Jag or Ferrari or Alfa from the 60's or even 50's.
I think you are hoping way too much on that.

TM is now so long that classic 4sp stuff probably isn’t a thing there anymore :(

Expect something that can do a 1:59-2:04 lap.

That’s mostly modern cars with 300-600hp

I fully expect this has been done before but following a top ghost around Red Bull Ring I became very suspicious about their line around T1. Ghost pictured below (white car) got no penalty as it is registered on the leaderboard, but my car (Greggs livery 😋) got the usual 0.5 and isn’t even fully off the green. Now I don’t suspect a conspiracy favouring the aliens but something weird is going on here, surely, or can someone explain this? The only thing I can think is he’s a bit closer to the end of the kerb along the track, so maybe the track limit starts closer/on the back of the red and white kerb, then gets more generous?

As fun as the WRX was in Race C, it was lacking in top end. I told myself that if I could beat its 1:38.132 QT with the Atenza, I could go get abused in some more races. I did a 1:38.131. Welp... a deal's a deal. 😅

Race 1: Started P6. Punted braking into Turn 1 on Lap 2. Pushed wide braking into Turn 4 on Lap 3. Started driving angry and making mistakes. Collected a 2.0 second penalty bonking someone braking into Turn 4 on Lap 5. Finished P13.

Race 2: Started P5. Frustrating traffic, with even more frustrating penalties. Finished P12.

Spent some time hotlapping to calm down and figure out the car. I was rewarded with a 1:37.762.

Race 3: Started P2. Penalties let the lead G70 walk away, and the tailing G70 creep up. Finished P3.

Race 4: Started P4. Couldn't catch the lead G70, but had a long, fun, and sweaty race with three other G70s for the last two podium positions. Finished P4.

Race 5: Started P2. Brazilian G70 pushed me wide into Turn 4 on Lap 1. The same Brazilian G70 tried to dive up inside of the lead G70 at Turn 1 on Lap 2, bumped them wide, and slowed to a crawl right on the apex. I had nowhere to go, bonked into them, and collected a 2.0 second penalty. Race was ruined. Finished P12.

That's enough of that noise. Be safe out there! 😅

Somekind of massive lag in race C? Went from SR S to SR B in one race without any major incident other than being heavily dive bombed once. Or does it penalize the victim THAT bad at the moment for "off track" and damage?! No penalties for me from the incident..

Yep, the W196 and the custom tuned supercars were both highlights in recent Race A's. Hopefully something new this time, with a similar feel
If we’re talking recent banger race A’s

Radical @ sardegna
Alfa @ Eigar
Autobianchi @ Suzuka
Escort cossie @ sardegna
Honda Civic @ Tokyo expressway
RCR Civic @ Watkins glen

Just my personal recent stand outs, I reckon there’s around 100 of my wins sat in those races

I’d like to get some racecraft advice on a situation I’ve encountered several times this week. Have encountered it on other tracks though.

Coming around the last corner at RBR, close behind another car. They fluff the corner slightly and you exit faster. Along the straight, you can draw alongside and potentially try and overtake at T1, but only by taking a slower line through it yourself (assuming you’re not going to force the other car off the track that is). This leaves you open to either losing the place as the other car gets a better line, albeit still sub-optimal, or getting caught by others behind as they had a clear run at the corner.

So is it better to just tuck in behind the slower car on the straight, or go for it and try and make the overtake stick up the hill? I’ve tried both and neither seem to work!!

As far as actual racecraft is concerned, it's at your discretion - if you think you can make side-by-side work and potentially gain a position, go for it. If you don't think it'll stick, then tucking in behind is a better option.

Turn 1 on RBR I wouldn't expect the pass to stick, because the corner is too slow/uphill, it makes it more of a drag race out of the corner. I would go side-by-side to set myself up for the next corner though, as that's another right. But given it's also a long straight to that corner, tucking in behind for turn 1 in the hopes of getting a better exit or slip-stream may be the better option.

Because yesterday's Race 4 was so fun:

I need to do a better job setting myself up for passes.

That Atenza really holds its own, I’m going to try my super V8 looking shell livered Atenza tomorrow

RBR does work well when people actually race it correctly and don’t dive bomb, 12 laps though is a little too long.

After watching that I’m going for a couple of races before I start my bbq 😁

I hope she treats you well! Some understeer and the gap between 1st and 2nd gear feels massive, but she was less work to hustle around the track than the WRX - which was also fun. 😬 👍
