I brought Uncle Ben to the Daily Race A and choas ensued!!! Still gotta refine my tuning some guys were blasting away from me. Mega fun race if you can get competitive. Had to get my deliveries done overnight hehe.

Also did Daily Race C and acheived 6th place.

First daily race of the week for me. Decided to stick to GR4 and just ride the fear of being punted beyond the horizon. Didn't want to go with the meta 4C as that just isn't interesting, went with the Mazda instead. What ensued was a very good, very clean race with H_Peiercy (or something like that).

Started dead last in 16th. Finished 5th.

I got myself into the mid 37s but it’s still crazy that I’m over 3s off the WR, while being 53rd global.

Edit.

Little good it did me for racing though. From first place down to eighth in my next race. That was a much sweatier affair than last night with a lot more argy-bargy with me coming off worse. lol.

Next race I ended 2nd. P2 behind me lurched me into the barrier lap 1 putting me down to P3. Fought my way back to P2 at the end with pole, fastest lap and clean race. I called the guy who hit me dirty in the lobby for the move. He apologies claiming it was an accident and all his fault. Well I stated he should probably have yielded the spot then. But he made all kinds of excuses, but still more apologetic. I don’t know. It seems easier to crash someone out and then vain forgiveness at the end in order to get a win. Not sure about that one. So I quit race A for the night and went to B.

I feel robbed. 😥

Jumped onto B and improved my QT. Found out I was pole in an all B race. I was maintaining my lead an feeling good while going though the last corner and then I’m plunged into darkness.

The VR is black, my steering wheel is stuck of force feedback trying to turn left. After about 20 seconds a message comes on and says, please wait.

I wait and I wait. After about another 20 seconds I take my headset off and turn it off. I turn the wheel off. My monitor is still blank, with no signs of life but the PS5 is on.

After about a minute the GT gets closed down and the PS5 menu comes up.

Thanks PD your game crashed.

I haven’t seen a crash like this one before. It was bizarre. I didn’t even get an option to report the crash. Whatever it was, it was such a critical error it even took out all the error handling routines.

What’s killing me is I probably won’t be doing much more racing this week. Injured my back over the weekend and these last two days sessions is beginning to cause a lot of nerve pain down my leg so I should probably give it a rest. It’s a shame as I really enjoy the 4C around Willow Springs.

It’s strange because I had a crash like yours last night whilst saving a race! And I keep getting these unexpected error whilst qualifying, never on race mind but really annoying when on a decent lap!

Awesome time in race A and thanks for the gearing tips I may well try that one later in the week

Didn't try any of the races but I did try QT for race A. What kind of wizardry is going on here 🤣🤣🤣 I set a top 800 time and that was still 8 seconds off P1 🙈 I have not really gone into the setup too deap but has anyone got a ball park setup? Specifically suspension settings? I am OK for gearing but I'm buggered if I can get the little suzuki to turn in without ploughing on badly

Have you put engine upgrades on it?

Praiano has posted his.

Sounds like the key thing when building is NOT to install the Titanium Connecting Rods so you can get to 144HP.

He also has rear ballast instead of a rear wing, although top times on the leaderboard seem to be a mix of both.

Well this was unexpected. Hopped into Race C qualy for a bit before a meeting starting in 10m and even though I went into T1 at Suzuka drifting sideways, I managed to shave 0.2s off my PB time and set a 1:59:3 🤣

I was thinking that I would top my friend leaderboard since it had been occupied by @Childe Roland all week but NO - Mr @Darken Azriel showed up from nowhere to keep me away from the top.... Thanks mate, much appreciated.... 🤣🤪

Spot on 👍👌 I will start again this evening with another one and see how I get on. It's actually good fun but I dare not try a race 🤣🤣.
I was stuck around 133bhp and 349.99 but I can see now I have a few bits wrong. All a learning process 😉

As I may not be racing much anymore this week, perhaps I'll share mine. It was good enough for 53rd global but not top of my leaderboard. I probably shouldn't have accepted @Nebuc72 friend invite 🤦‍♂️

I run TCS at 2 as well to ensure I don't lose the rear in a race (TCS 1 for QT). Though the key to a good time is knowing when to brake, coast and accelerate on the few corners you do need to contend with.
Ooooo, might have to check this one out.
No, you're fast enough anyway! :D

I couldn't believe we weren't friends already?

We were on my old account, but not everyone transitioned over to my VR account. When I initially set it up I was only after VR friends but now it is the only account I run so I need to transition a few other laggards over to this.

As to tuning, I've played some more with mine and looking at Praiano's tune (which I really always hate his tunes as they're so "ugly and extreme") I got an idea for trading rear downforce to weight at the back. Theory being that downforce induces drag which slows you on the straights, whereas the weight will aid in traction and as we are mostly at constant speed, the weight should not impact braking/acceleration to much.

My build already has rear downforce so I can't zero it out but I was able to decrease it to minimum, increase front downforce for better turn-in and add weight to the rear. I also swapped a couple of parts (added racing clutch and reduced braking performance - who needs brakes?) and I maintain the exact 350pp. I've been tweaking gears some more. Perhaps I'll give this build another go this evening (if my back cooperates).

I also think it may be possible to build a 151hp Carry. I need to buy another one to test that... No, not possible

This guy in the BMW was so focused on defending from @NAXEHT that they didn't realise they were leaving the outside wide open 😅

I feel like this was missing the quintessential MAXPOWER 360° spin!

Getting acquainted at Willow Springs going down to 1:18.521. If I could just shave some more 2-3 tenths, it will be marvellous. In that track starting at front is vital. Need to build some consistency though, my average delta doesn't give me confidence yet for racing.
My approach has always been to quit just before the line, so I get a rough idea but don't actually set a lap, that way if I'm not confident in my QT to race competitively, I start from the back with less pressure.

Yesterday's 16th to 5th was exactly that, and showed me that if you're consistent and avoid making mistakes, it's easy to move up the field. Now I'm at the point where I feel that if I put in a few more races and see the same consistency in my driving, I could throw in a QT, start further up the pack and go for a win.

I think you'll gain more confidence from racing people in lower pressure situations/positions than if you just keep putting in qualifying times on your own.

Funny isn't it how we all vary, I always get on really well with Praiano's tunes! I think I'm about 1.5 seconds behind your QT using it, so I'll give your tune a try (friend request accepted by the way 🙂).

FIrst time trying Race A this week - 2 races, 2 wins:-

The funny thing is, is that I really don't understand suspension and LSD tuning, so I just fire random changes to it and see what works. I mostly start using the GT Pro Tune as a base and go from there but they don't have the Carry configured yet so I've been guessing based on what other light trucks and Kei cars have for suspension and working with that.

Weirdly, I tend to do well on tuner events though. While I think I'm pretty rubbish at knowing how to set things up, I guess everyone else is just hopeless! :D

Very true, I remember at the start with GT7 when they had this Alsace short course and the Mini Cooper tuned races, it was so much fun, my first race wins came there and I was hooked!

@newmedia_dev are you sure that’s not a mirage? Too much time in the desert? 🤣 I need to try with my headphones 😁

I mean being "rubbish" at tuning is the way to be successful in tuning in GT7!

Look at all of the tunes that are done to manipulate PP to create OP tunes and you'll notice the majority involve butchering the suspension, applying too much camber and toe (in or out), applying max downforce on one end and no downforce at the other. These are all things that no-one would do in the real world, but are done in GT7 because they lower the PP while maintaining the desired attributes of speed and/or acceleration, and it's unique to GT7 because of the PP system!

And I don't think I've said this enough, so one more time - PP.
