Thanks for the answers, more or less just frustrated, having just lost P4 in current race C, p5 caught up, my fault mostly. I see them in the rear view, decide to let them pass as we approach the braking zone, and they decide to rear end me, and then side swipe as well. I survived and managed to hold p5. The DNF's was just part of the question about reporting dirty drivers. Say 3 out however many DNF's were just wretched, and then just quit, can you report them. I'm assuming that PD would review the race, but seems difficult to do from their end so it all seems rather pointless.
As others have said, the best way to avoid trouble (and this anecdotally works a charm) is to avoid retaliation, remember the culprits so you can avoid them later, and bear in mind the likelihood is that those dirty drivers and DNFs won't be sharing a lobby with you again in the near future, because of how matchmaking works.

Oh, and the golden rule: remember not every incident is dirty driving. We are all human and can make mistakes, usually the story becomes more clear in the post race chat.

Managed more top 5 finishes and a win from pole in race B , got to a point where my DR bar was full so a decent result and I am DRA. I find myself in a room full of A drivers, I qualify P11.

I race ok, manage to get to P8 when the guy in front of me makes a dumb move and bumps a guy off through the final esses, said guy tries to rejoin, hitting me and I have the mother of all crashes. Everything is busted, I mean everything.

So here's the weird think, a lap later and the car magically repairs itself as usual but it's absolutely hopeless, monumental understeer. All I can think of is the tyres were over heated and never recovered???
 
Honestly unless you are really comfortable with the GTR and with only the top one being fraga, think about just learning the G70. It’s not the best car but it’s the fastest outside of the top 100, the GTR needs the same as Lambo which is loads of precision especially with braking.

Just consider it.
Tried the G70, and made myself 1.3 seconds faster, I still have loads of time, in the 1st sector! Even in the 1st turn! 2:02.0. And I held my own, in a A+/A mixed lobbies. Was they faster yes, was they much faster No, clean lobbies, but very tight room lobbies. I was impressed with myself, small mistakes, but didn't lose much time, as we're all faster in different parts!

Other than getting more comfortable with the G70, hopefully I can break into the 2:01.xxx by this weekend! All top 5's and Top 10's last night!

On a side note, why do a lot of B/S drivers get scared in A+/A lobbies, I want to see where they're faster at! When they talk themselves into making mistakes! And not running well! They all say we don't belong here!
 
In tougher lobbies above my DR, I focus on keeping it neat and hitting apexes. I don't have the pace regardless so keeping it neat means I benefit from mistakes and contact ahead of me.
It’s a little nuanced between regions as the North American ones tend to much more respectful (I imagine we have a lot more younger or immature players that have achieved “greatness”)

But the advice is sound, stay out of trouble, don’t be trouble and you’ll grind up that ladder.

But it’s really really really important to note that results aren’t a measure of improvement, it the salvaging those 6-9th places and not killing people that is important for a lot of reasons

Just race, there will be contact or utter dick heads but just race!

Remember you are racing a human and your car is wider than you think and your pace is probably slower than you imagine.

Learn how to comfortably move the car around in traffic, anticipation is the key skill, the mechanics of driving are simple it’s the thinking that is the hard part for a lot of people

That's what I'm doing now, after watching Luca's stuff, and came to that, just stay fast enough to take advantage of mistakes, and try and stay out of trouble
 
Got my qualy down to 2.02.2, perfect lap and I am 2.02 flat but that's it I am tapped out. The left after the tunnel is real honey-pot territory, the fast line is of course wide but that leaves this gaping big hole every dingleberry thinks is going to stay open and they inevitably dive in there from another postal code. I'm clearly going to take the racing line fellas!

My situation is this: Two weeks ago, I had a blast in high DR B, got into A, and in my fifth race in A, I finished P1. I was thrilled.
However, that week ended, and since then I have had just about zero fun with dailies. I work like hell with QT, but the races feel like a constant defeat and a complete killjoy. Wondering if I should just purposely tank my rating completely and just start over again.

It feels like quite the schism, that having a rating system really adds to to fun. It makes racing more fulfilling. Also, it seems to be killing the fun, as soon as you start focusing on it.
Any thoughts?

I race purely for fun, although I do keep a bit of an eye on ratings - more focused on SR than DR though.

I was, for a long time, a mid B DR driver, occasionally getting towards the top and even made DR A a few times (never stayed there for long though!)

Since GT7 came out, I appear to have got slower (or everybody else has got faster!), and now sit at the bottom of DR B, with occasional drops to DR C (never stay there for long though!).

I think the message is that you may well have found your natural level, as I have. However, I have as much fun racing now as I did 15 years ago - I don't get stressed too much about results, or dirty driving, just play my own game.

It's up to you to decide which way you want to go - constantly pushing up through the ratings, or just focusing on having fun.

My angle on this one is that I’d prefer to stay with DR gainable and losable.

Quite often these weeks I’ve have some torrid races in race B and my DR takes a dive anyway, at this point I jump into race A your DR doesn’t move at all and the fun and a few wins return,

I do ditch race B once I know I can’t get anywhere but I’m always looking to the next week and a good race B to compete in, for me it’s always better to have really competitive racing at the front, which for me is mid to high B/S

If I ever hit A, which doesn’t really happen, I agree it’s not fun against that speed as you get nowhere.

And fun is what we’re doing it for 😁
 
Got my DR up to B!!!!!
Wasn't even expecting it! My last race of the day, I was looking for my name on the starting grid, and was wondering why I wasn't in the top half. Scrolled down to see my name in 15th! Looked across to see "BS"!
Very happy bunny. Even managed to finish the race in 10th. 😁😁😁
Probably won't get anymore racing in this week as the weekends are for my kids, but looking forward to next week's dailys. 🥳🥳🥳

P.s @Gurzu, thanks for the tip for the esses before the straight. I think I've almost cracked them. Just needed the consistency, which unfortunately, I'm not gonna get the chance to nail. But, it definitely got easier.
 
Another comment on tight racing. One thing I think that is causing conflict between guys actually trying to be clean is swapping lines at the last split second. There's a lot of door to door racing in Race B, I find a lot of guys who are on the inside in a multi corner battle are suddenly taking the racing line RIGHT in front of me, leaving me no place at all to brake and I tag them. I see others do it too.

Prime corner for this is the uphill left at the end of sector 1. Let's say you go through the previous right hander together, you on the inside, other man on outside, now for the left you have the outside and other guy is millimetres ahead but needs to slow as he has the tighter line. Guys are instead leaping to the right to take the faster line but I am already there and I tag them. You also see it at the exit of the tunnel after the long straight. This leads to a lot of conflict because people are just not understanding you can't just cut across someone's line like that, especially the faster line as he is likely.... going ... faster.

Even at the end of long straight, I will hold the outside line, guy passes me on the inside but then leaps across to take the wider line, I've nowhere to go but up his rear bumper.
