I have to say, I don’t see ANY fun in racing in the wet.

It's a better race when there's some rain, than when it's completely dry for the whole race - becomes a bit of a spread out, processional race without the rain to spice it up.

Having said that, I had a completely wet race today and finished 2nd, then a completely dry race which I won.

I can't believe how many people start a wet race on dry tyres, or how many think they don't have to take the compulsory pitstop if they start the race on wet tyres!

I think PD have made a rod for their own back with daily A now.

Not the race choices but having 2 years + of conditioning people to the no DR and that it’s the “fun race” when you have a week like this I don’t think people realise, or that a lot of the people that typically do lots of A and earlier in their driving journey are used to close competitive racing that is a little more tense and sweaty than is typical for A.

bare in mind that mid week we still have A+ guys getting 1 min penalties because they don’t read the rules etc.

Throw in understeer and walls and the wider of the lobby spreads it’s not ideal.

To go a bit yang to Neville’s suggestion why wouldn’t one of the launch races in like a polo GTi at brands or blue moon infield etc

Just feels like a funny race to turn DR back on for this combo.

I play in VR and finally started to get my torque setting up to extremely strong again.

This is not acceptable in any game let alone one that has kinetic impact out of the game.

Disgusting all round and depressing to watch and get caught up in.

Edit: in the second full length race video you’ll see me go from 5th 7th to about 14th because of more poor driving or over sensitivity.



Here is the full race which for mostly A drivers was an utter horror show

I can't get to grips with Race A for some reason - I think I'm about 3 seconds behind your QT, which keeps putting me last on the grid!

PD seem to have ramped up the rain for race C - I've never seen it so heavy before. Big puddles on and off the track, plus water running across the track - certainly makes for a challenging drive.
 
I mostly race online in open lobby these days, the race C format made me come back to the dailies and I am having a lot fun. (A/S, driving the gt500)

I Had very nice mid pack battles in the dry and in the wet, against the Nissan's GTR, most people are using this car. The best I have done so far is 5th, but it no matter where I finish, it is just fun.

Making an habit of looking at the weather radar pre-race is a good thing!

The Lambo is OP, or I lack the skill in the gt500 to match it's pace.

More of this please.

What do you do when you like the daily race A combo but hate the racing? You turn it into a time trial of course.

At risk of poking a bear with a very long stick @Nebuc72 your turn! :D

My optimal is in the 44s (just). Perhaps I should aim for that?

@TheNormsk wow buddy that’s some time on race A!!! Not sure if I’m going to try and improve mine, it’s putting me on a decent race starting position

@newmedia_dev I was just about to say that I’ve decent racing standards all week, and I have by and large - but just came off a race where some numpty rear ends me into the hairpin but apart from that, racing at the front has been mostly clean and fun

Couldn't improve my QT at Spa, still consistently on the '20.0. It's really too hot btw, I'm drowning in sweat. I've then tried some half hr practice at Tokyo. Regardless, it's way less "sweaty". So, since the combo is way less dehydrating than that of race B, I'm leaning towards it more for the rest of the week. I can't see actually wich of the two combo (A and B) could be the most "dangerous" in terms of driving standards. I see both as equally "sensitive". So, tonyt, I'll give another go to see if I can reach the low '45. For race C, I plan to give it a go but without QT, starting from the back, just for fun. Enjoy the weekend.

Honest question: Why do I suck at Spa T1? Is it just me, or is it actually hard to nail?

This week I have put some serious time into TT, because my pace is way off, and it still is. Usually, if I put just a bit of work into TT, I can comfortably be in top 2000, and when I drive with the top ghost, it is rare that I have these absolute mysteries where they just pull away, and when they do, I know how to analyse. Hell, now I even have telemetry recording, thank to Coach Dave Delta.
There will always be a corner on a track, that will be hard to nail, but eventually I always get to that point where I see the ghost NOT pulling away, and I know that I hit it right.
But with T1 at Spa this week - perhaps once or twice (in total) I have managed to not be waving bye-bye to the ghost.
I have watched the ghost, frame by frame. I have studied the telemetry, and yes, I do actually know a few things that I have to implement, but for reasons unknown, doing so, seems to be the hardest challenge I have yet had in GT7. (On my list is: brake a little later, turn in later with a bit more speed, hit the apex CLOSER TO THE WALL and already be lightly on the gas in 2nd when that happens.)

Spa T1 is actually keeping me from racing there this week.🤯 I have decided to to just leave it be, and focus on other things. Sometimes the brain works like that - you have to take a real break in order to fix/improve.

(FWIW Speaking actual numbers, my current best lap is 2:21.185 which puts me at 6641 on the list. The delta to the top is +2.32%, which is perhaps not alarmingly bad, but e.g. my delta recently at Fuji was +1.51% to the top and damn, there are some tricky corners at Fuji.)

Anyway, I think I just had to vent my frustration, but I will be happy to hear any thoughts from you guys.

Tokyo Layouts are fun but no run-off and pinball physics is just terrible.

They need wet weather in more tracks, no new tracks and dry races with no strategy is stale

Banger time, good stuff.

I do have an unfortunate secret to tell; and that is that I'm sandbagging my quali time so that I'm having to race in the pack and not starting at the front.

But this may change over the weekend, we'll see ;)

T1 at Spa is made of 4 corners. 1st is the Bus stop chicane, 2nd the La Source and 3rd-4th Eau Rouge and Radillon. The good exit from Bus stop gives you the launch to a good La Source. Most likely you're slowing too much the car, braking too late and for too long. That kills your mid corner speed in hairpins (or very slow corners). I suck a lil also at Bus stop, so I can't really tell you how to make it; sure is that if you're braking in between the two corners you're making a big mistake. For La Source, try to brake exactly when the "100 m" board is alongside you (to start, afterwards you'll do it when it has just left the screen) and leave the brake before usual (switch off your habit to insist on the "100% brake" cause on the final part of most of the braking areas you're actually trailbraking; bear this in mind also when approaching Bus stop), allowing the car to just roll to the apex of La Source. A moment BEFORE hitting the curb you'll need to be basically flat out (or 80 % throttle at least), aiming the external curb. Do not "insist" increasing the lock angle. That induce oversteer, mostly kinda snappyng. It's rather the opposite, you'll always decrease lock angle whilst exiting La Source. Towards Eau Rouge there are 2 lines almost equally fast. 1st is having the right tires on the limit of the wall shadow. It's more direct, but if well done you'll use less steering. 2nd line is the "classic" one, so you use all the width of the track staying basically glued to the wall till you enter Eau Rouge. It's a more "rounded" line, but actually my preferred one, cause it's anyway slightly the faster. TT will not help that much as comparison, imho, cause there's no BoP in it.
 
Glad everyone is having a blast this week!!!! It's been a tough week for me! Seems everything is a fight for me this week! Spa I've ran, most this week, and can't get a time going! Maybe this is telling me to just wrap it up for the week, and go and come back next week!
 
I think I need to spend some time adjusting my wheel. I am using the DD Pro but with a larger wheel (the much nicer CSL V1 or whatever wheel), I like the larger diameter but I think the default settings are designed to work with the smaller wheel which is why I feel I don't have enough lock. I also want more weight, I get too much vibration and not enough weight.
