Ah man, as much as I sometimes complain about donkeys ruining my races, this time, I was the master of my own undoing! Absolute heartbreak at Deep Forest and it's totally my fault... Started in P4 and after some fantastic, fair racing, I was in a net P2 by Lap 3 and confirmed when I undercut the pit at the end of Lap 7! Then, 2 tiny, stupid errors after lap 12 cost me 2 penalties of 0.5s each and I ended up finishing in P12 instead.... On to next week, I guess 🫣

I was quite surprised that the Ford GT GTLM/GTE wasn’t more popular for Daily C this week. It didn’t seem to crop up much in races I was in, even though a few people got them into the fastest Quali times.

Is it not considered a good car for race pace/consistency? I found it to be a very good option.

I managed to snag myself a 26.4 in qualifying, and since I’m about mid-tier A/S that meant I was on pole quite often. I was about ten seconds clear by the finish approx. 50% of the time.

(I’m usually not very good, but apparently the combo suits me!)

After getting an hear infection (swimmer's otitis), I tried to drive in "Deejay at the console mode", but it wasn't so pleasant... Saturday it improved a lil pain wise, so I decided to race anyways. It was mostly good racing in A+/A lobbies, except for few where there were real psychos "pinballing" everything in their sigth. In one good in particular, i got a fantastic duel for 7th during the last 2 laps with a guy, side by side from Griffins bend till just before McPhillamy park or at The Chase without the fear of being punted or sideswapped; just good hard racing. I'm having issues uploading to youtube, but i'll share asap the video of those two laps that made my racing week. I did improve my qt also, down to a '14.509 (ideal '14.1xx which, if confirmed, could have put me inside the 200 on the leaderboeard), so very happy to have visited Australia. Now i'm in trouble, cause Bathrust is jumped on top of my favorite tracks with Willows and Glen (Monza doesn't count cause i'm italian).
For this coming week I sense some smell of Road Atlanta and Glen short... Lets see. Have a nice one, chaps.

Initial reaction to this weeks races was a bit “mixed”

A: Redbull Jr
B: RM
C: RH and 1 stop required

A and C look good and B I’ve always found hit and miss previously with only 4 laps

Have a good week racers!

Ran a couple at Race A last week and got destroyed, lol. Took a massive SR hit and bowed-out of that one as it wasn't worth the risk.

That was Monday, didn't touch the game again until Friday and thought I'd give Bathurst a go. Ended-up with some good racing there for the weekend, which was surprising given I don't usually do well there.

I know Maggi' can be polarizing, but I love, love, love the course!😁

Seems that the ear infection also affected your sense of smell :D.
Jokes aside, I hope you are getting better because ear pain (and tooth pain) reaching high levels are unbearable.

Oooooh love a bit of Autopolis 😎
For TT yes, but for Gr.4 racing?

I will give it a try but it seems like another G70 procession and maybe some NSXs?
I wish they tried some heavy fuel multiplier to encourage different pit strategies.

Not a week for me I believe.
Have fun guys.

I may update my opinion later 🤣 I usually do well there in races, but will see how it goes...

Had a good week last week with A. Not hugely points scoring due to mild competition, but since A has been DR gaining, I've gone from around 80% DR B to 23% DR A.

Not sure I like this week, but I'll give A a go again. Lake Maggiore I will avoid like the plague as races there nearly always result in me going backwards in rating and Autopolis is great for TTs but racing?

I think if people aren't nasty throughout the midway part of the lap at Autopolis, it has the potential to be a nice race.

Time to watch Tidge's guide to see what I am doing wrong and hopefully, improve on the above 🤣

** UPDATE **

Could not get the NSX to work for me, for some weird reason! It usually is one of my "go-to" time attack cars in similar race conditions but today, nada! Funnily enough, I tried the Huracan for a while and came to within 0.007 of my current PD about 3 times lol and all of those times had a sector time at least 0.200 slower than Optimal due to some silly errors in different places in different laps... 🤪

Also, is it just me or is the steering force lighter this week? I have the DD Pro set to 98 FFB and in-game at 6 and still not giving me any trouble in terms of resistance! And this with the 15NM torque booster too! 🧐

Did 4/5 laps of each and the conclusion so far:

A will take me quite a while to dial in with VR, I’ll get there like the formula cars but it’s cognitively even just in TT quite overloading.

B everyone will be so close here that the racing will be tight and brutal usually not malicious but Gr3 4 laps on a tournament spec track, we will see as I like my supra here.

C with the more touring car nature and longer race length this will be a more fun race but in relative terms a long one. Did 4 laps and it’s relatively simple to dial in the pace especially as all the same (mostly) brake markers or coast places apply.

Was not my intention to do that, was hell bent on fixing up my Ferrari Interlagos lap first before moving back to the Integrale👍. You know Ben personally? First time I've seen him up there was very impressed.
He’s always there or there abouts in the dailies usually the Gr4 ones or similar.

I don’t think he’s every had a P1 but is always in and around the top 20 but had a different name.

I know him virtually personally, up until recently he was in RTR but the whole semi implosion thing meant a few left I know him and Russ left.

*thank you Mods

I see they never did make track limits a thing at Maggiore.

The quickest way around it is still to be on it as little as possible.
I actually think it’s in the middle ground for the more fair track limits, RBR being at the aggressive end and brands being down the really soft end and maggi sits in the middle.

You have to remember the quickest way around any track is to test and push the limits of the car and the available raceable space. It’s not slot cars to be fair so go forth and cut those curbs and take those wide exits and embrace them :)

Edit:

Looking at my DR loss in one race in A from the back (12th didn’t qualify) and I’m so far off the pace it’s gonna be one to avoid unless you like that race or are fast at it.

There's pushing the limits of the available space and then there's just not being on the track at all, Maggiore is definitely on the extreme end of that. You basically race on the run-off and only use the track to cross to the other side

At least at Brands the limits do end up enforcing themselves as there's no run-off.

Might have to get into some Daily A. Did some TT laps to get used to the RB Jr and was able to put down a 47.512. Been a while since doing Dailies but this one might pull me back in.

I know it's early but looks to be competitive.

Go for it! I’m gonna need a few miles to even get remotely fast if at all!

That’s so so true!

But it is the same for everyone, it’s just a wider track than the tack map says it is. It’s the same difference.

That said it won’t be my race this week as the margins for contact are so high in Gr3 and those margins so tight, I’m not good enough for them in all honesty with those cars.

Did 3 races on Auto polis: started P3 / P4 and finished P2, P3 and a P10 because I was lacking rhythm and making mistakes. Love the grid starts. If you can survive the first argy bargy lap you can get into a race flow. My pit strategies were mostly to not go into the pit as long as I had some clean air. In the race that I finished P10 I had some nice, clean battles with a British guy in which we were side by side, without any contact, in many corners over several laps. Good stuff!

I made an as-close-to-stock-as-I-can-get-it RBJ livery (little rough in places close-up; you can see the base yellow for a few pixels here and there, as the join for the rear spats is either that or over it) so you can just paint the 60 white decals and have a stock-looking car in your own preferred colour. It is, of course, limited to the decal colours rather than paint colours but I'm not a deity.

Takes a couple of minutes to repaint them all (because the livery editor DOESN'T ALLOW DECAL GROUPING), but here's some purple:

Also the "GT" logo is entirely covered by a race number if you have one, and I've put the Red Bull logo under the rear wing too. Engine cover stripes aren't quite right, but they'll do.

I set some mediocre QTs for last week, but couldn't race:

Race A: Delta HF Integrale Rally Car '92 - 1:29.955

Race B: NSX Gr.4 - 2:18.835

Race C: NSX Gr.3 - 1:28.563

Hopefully I can free up some time to race this week. I do like me some Autopolis and... grid starts with a mandatory stop!

Race A: Red Bull X2014 Junior - 1:48.659

Race B: NSX Gr.3 - 1:58.978

Race C: NSX Gr.4 - 1:56.432

Have y'all a good race week!

Time to eventually race at Autopolis once. I only tried few laps last September in gr.2 (with pad) and I was nowhere, I mean, like more than 5% delay from top leaderbord.
It's not as exciting as it was last week's Australian venue, but I can live with it. After the first practice I managed a '55 dead, which gives me hope for the rest of the week. I'll try to push to the mid-low '54, but I'm already happy with my result. Sooner or later (mostly way later) I'll try Lago Maggiore also (I'm living at 30 min from the actual real one in south Switzerland, the lake I mean), but for now I'll prefer to keep my distance from it.

@Childe Roland Yep, apparently my sense was fooled more by PD weekly missions, rather than from the illness 🤣. Thanks btw, I'm getting better already.
