Can’t say I enjoy the Junior Red Bull so I might skip daily A but I did manage to pull out this time.

Perhaps if I can manage to get around the track without chasing a ghost I can measure my races from how few positions I lose in race, because, you know I won’t hold onto my spot. That’s just not how it works with me.

Tried a few cars at LM and settled on the beetle. I may try the grr again though but there's nothing in it in my hands. Struggling a bit for pace though within 3pc of the top time, cannot seem to nail the esses which given the lack of hp is surprising as I swear we used to go through there flat before.

Changed up my beetle livery to honor my terrible rugby league team.

OT: is anyone else having massive issues with this website? It barely runs on both my laptop and phone, constant "oops we have a problem" error codes and also about 70% of the time I get a plain white screen, so the address is in the address bar, my device feels like it is at the website but totally white. Need to refresh each page 2 or 3 times before I see anything. Tried multiple devices and browsers and all have the same issues. This site has always been ACHINGLY slow compared to every other site I visit but now it is barely working.

Well, last night I tried one race C just to confirm my prejudice.
Basically the best strategy for this race is to avoid racing.

Did 3 laps on the fly for qualy to set a lap "good" enough for P3 in top split (half grid starting from the back with no time set).

P2 messes his grid start and I gained one position.
P1 set a Qualy time 0.7 secs faster than mine so I assumed he was fast but I was wrong.
He may be fast on Qualy but he definetely had no race pace.
He was all over the place stubbornly defending the inside of every corner missing every apex and almost parking the car on each turn.

I decided not to pit on first lap overestimating my chances to pass him on lap 2. We arrived at the hairpin an he goes wide. I took my chances with a very tight line to avoid touching him and I was succesful at that but the line was a bit too tight and I get a pen for cutting the track (on VR you dont get to see the track limit of that awful hairpin). Also he gets a good run on the exit and he is on my quarter panel for the next fast right hander.

I know how that was going to end so I decided to lift and let him go and I did good because he had no intentions of leaving some minimal room. In fact, he was counting on my car to lean on and he goes off road with the half of his car.
I lost momentum because of that lift and couldnt pass him while he was off road.

So, I just took a deep breath and decided to pit but he goes into the pit lane first so I continued with the track for myself.
I lost so much time in those 2 ridiculous laps and considering the 0.5 pen + the bunch of aliens starting for the back...I knew the race was doomed for me.

The rest of the "race" is just some lonely boring laps and when I exit the pits on the last lap I was on P5 and that was my final position.
The stubborn poleman ended in P12 so I assumed he got some shenanigans with others drivers.

I managed to gain some DR points but this race is not for me.

Edit: grammar

Welcome back to the GT7 daily race club @Mercia

I'm sold my ps5 5 months ago because of my mom having ovarian cancer. We needed extra money for her food and medical bills and other supplies. So I've been stuck without one, haven't done any races since Oct 29th, 2024.

Hope everyone enjoys this week's races. The Red Bull Junior one should be addicting and fun for many players.

Very sorry to hear that, man. I hope she is improving. No chance of a cheap PS4 for the time being?

This may or may not help people but it’s the 4 lap session I did when I finished work today, the aim was to dial in gear selection a little better (both Apex, and downshift points) and to improve on my 1.57 time, not a long session and I can go quicker but thought it might help some people or other VR users.

The ghost I’m following is Naïf(edit 3rd in the world) and the offset is .2 with sector resets on. Lap 4 is my quickest with me trying to bring it all together still loads of mistakes and trying to hard to be on the throttle.

But here is my Daily B trying to improve short TT session

Edit: clarified the ghosts time

Today just wasn't my day.

Took the day off as an important parcel was scheduled to be delivered late morning/ early afternoon. I get a confirmation email at 9am saying that it should be at my doorstep around 11:30am, followed by another at 10:30 stating that it will be delivered tomorrow instead due to it's size!?! Like they did not see how big the box is the first time...

To distract myself, I took the opportunity of some free time and jumped into the qualy laps for Autopolis. Fiddled just a tiny bit with the wheel to get the perfect feeling and within 2 laps, I already set a PB of 1:54:9 and was improving by 0.3s half-way through the next lap. Then the door rang and there was me thinking my parcel actually arrived, so I paused the game...

I usually rest my right hand on the shelf that the wheel is attached to (on the rig) to help myself up but was distracted/ excited (Saab part, go figure) so without taking notice, I was gripping the wheel instead... As soon as I went to stand up and put weight on my hand, the wheel obviously turned, quite fast and I held on like a donkey. Heard a snap in my wrist and it is very painful, a bit swollen and I can't even lift a beer without feeling pain, let alone drive now 😵

Oh and to top it off, it wasn't my parcel. It was my damn, donkey neighbor asking when the bloody fireworks for the feast will happen - like a give a crap! 😩😭💩

@TechnoIsLove honestly mate stop fiddling with stuff, you, I or the top guys can all do this with base settings and even on controller.

Get really good from a baseline and then tweak, right now you don’t know if it’s muscle memory? Settings? Or placebo.

Settle on something comfortable for a while and then tweak, the race by race thing will be your undoing! You’ve only recently got a loadcell my friend!

Is it only me, or are they penalising bump drafting again in Race A?

If not, then the sportsmanship gods are awfully harsh because I couldn't even remember any meaningful contact and i can't avoid a big red "S" after each race.

Eventually it'll change to an A and then I've a feeling that meaningful contact will soon arrive.

It’s how you bump draft that the game penalises, if the closing speed is to great it sees it as deliberate contact, the penalties as far as I can tell aren’t dialled up (you can almost cut sector 3 if you’d want to)

Just lift before you bump them and choose your moments. Really just go round them and let them bump draft you is the safe option. The speeds are so different on the banking than say autopolis where the bumps won’t be that big

It's weird, on D-Pad I'd eat people alive exiting the right handed before the esses at LM but on a wheel there's this little dip, it's subtle but it's there, and the car wants to spin if I get on the throttle too hard. Feel i need to get into the mid 57's tonight to be competitive.
The controller smooths some of those bumps out, and honestly you don’t feel them on a controller either. I’m a wheel guy and it starts to teach you what smooth control is to go fairly quick.

You got this but in race remember it’s a lot lot tighter so be prepared go slow earlier sometimes.

Got to love them big painkillers, ice dips and numbing cream combo 🤣 🫣 Don't want to overdo it but happy with around 8 laps of work right now and limited ability to turn the car right 🤪

Funny that at the moment, @Barney Da Dog is exactly 0.005s ahead of me and @kowalski__1 is exactly 0.005s behind me! Not surprised that noob @newmedia_dev is so behind our times that we could literally stop to have a frapuccino and he still would be slower in a timed lap 😂🤗😘

* UPDATE *

Heading to bed as hand starting to throb again but was a hilariously frustrating few laps after I posted the one above 🫣 😵 🤣

  • PB set around 30 mins ago: 1:54:841 followed by:
  • 1:54:840
  • 1:54:839

Not joking, look: 🤣🤣 And optimal would have been 1:54:6

Wow I was punted first three races at t1 tonight in race b, bugger me would it kill people to brake a touch early?

I tried the 911, on paper it is quite fast but in a race, in traffic, it dislikes bumps too much for my liking. Gave the gtr another go and got within a tenth of my beetle time of 57.6. Ran a race with it and it felt good, mostly clean air but checked yesterday's race with the beetle and I was a couple tenths faster in clean air, not much so could take either one.

Here's my gtr livery, this was a Nissan livery at Bathurst but when they ran the Altima, not from the gtr days.

I spot an Electric Me 😂😛

Also I've in the last hour sleep walked and properly messed up and mangled a finger in a hotel window because I'm an actual idiot so that's me done for a while, no more using the R2 trigger for me for a bit

@TheNormsk you're normally better than me I think... Go take advantage of my horrendous and deadly injury!

Trashed a '54.7; all at last corner at Autopolis. Unlike Glen, Willows and other tracks the last corner is soo "long" that it hurts even more seeing the advantage slowly disappearing. It's an agony. I had as best a '15.1 out of the box in that session, gained 2 tenths at T1, another 2.5 tenths at T2 -T3... To ruin everything at last. Btw, my predictions about a low-mid '14 were lil too bold. Actually I dont see my self below the '14.5, if not thanks to a "lucky run".

I see the Huracan is topping the times now, and it seems they may do better in the twisty bits? I'll give it a go after work. I'd need half a second to be on the first row 😮, and I can't see where I'd find that much

Somehow my 1.58.2xx turned into 1.57.2xx in my lunch with the Porsche.
That's a really solid time, my optimal was exactly the same and in the Porsche too, I suspect it is my fastest option in qualy, I just find it hates kerbs in races. But in high B lobbies you should be good with a 57.2. The race really needs another lap, with so much time between races the qualy times are absurd, bathurst last week was great, very little improvement in qualy times as the week went on because there was so little time.

I want to try the supra/huracan/bmw to see if there is a mid 56 in any of them

That’ll get me hunting around at the very sharp end
No idea how people turn good aps in the supra, it is very clumsy through sector 1 but you can lay on the throttle earlier than other cars. The BMW should be quick, i can't deal with the anemic engine sound though. Try the GTR, excellent handling. Mid 56 is really moving though.

Heal up your finger!

I may give it a try tonight as we're supposed to get storms so that gives an excuse to not do other fun things... Like, last night I went mountain biking for 28 miles. Got home and tried to do some B QT to see if I might be competitive (even though I hate the racing there) and my arms were so tired I could barely turn the wheel... Needless to say my QT was last on the friends leaderboard. A pitiful performance. I won't be going B this week.

In fact the whole week gives me a "meh" feeling. May just focus on progressing single player towards completion instead..

Quilly for Race C 56.5 it's pretty competitive at the top of B, a lot of dirty lobbies! But always found some good people to race clean! Great racing I've tried G70, and Lambo, not bad in the twistys! Have to try and carry more speed out of the corners, a lot of time left on the table!

At least I'm making a race early in the week, last 2 weeks I started improving on Sunday, and having great fun!
