The reality is it’s hard to balance cars across various model years, manufacture specs and desires (read they all want their cars to be the best) add in the simplistic balancing system (power and weight)….sure all the cars can do laptimes needed but with humans using all manor of controller types and skill levels. We aren’t all Sophy, or tour drivers that can manage it.

What they did, when the Mazda 3 gr. 4 was introduced, made me nearly lose my trust in the whole franchise, seriously. At all, i feel like the team lost a bit of its spirit.
..... It is hard to balance cars in group 4, fr, mr, ff 4wd and i wish they wouldn't try so hard to do it. That's why it is so hard to overtake, cause individual strength of a model isn't there. Like the gtr is good going uphill, the 458 is good going downhill, at the end of the week, when I know the track, most of the gt3 feel the same and I drop the same lap times.!!! But i am still using a controller, that might be different when using a wheel..... I hope. When gran turismo started, they wanted to be as close to reality as possible, now it feels like they make a car feel good or bad according to their own Gusto. The Bmw M4 gr. 4 is terrible to drive, why.?
But i am with you on your reply and understood it, and the game is also still great, looking forward to drive in sardegna after work and after taking a stroll with Harvey da dog 😊

After multiple Monza races last night, I think I've found my setup (but I'll probably tweak it again later). I set the rear downforce 25 points higher than default, which keeps the same general handling as the default setup, but the little increase at the rear makes it noticeably easier to put the power down and gives me more confidence to get on the throttle earlier. I also set BB at -2 as that seems to give me the shortest stopping distance.

Nice! I read this and was considering the beetle, I raced it in gt sport, had this grease livery of black and fire 😁

But decided to stick with the Viper and couldn’t quite get into the 1.41s twice hit a 42.035 then another agonising 42.032 😁

Need to learn to go slower to be faster 🤣 in the corners.

I’m racing A & A+ being so far up in BS and it’s tough going, finishing virtually where I start apart from a few incident victims.

The beetle gets a Barbie livery and that's it.!

Here's thsi weeks guide! For those wondering about the downforce, the default downforce feels the quickest for me.. Although I would add wing if you are struggling with the rear on the exit.

I tried less downforce and the distance I gain on the straights is easily closed down in the corners. My best time is with default settings.

Going to give the 4C a try! Anti-meta! Let's see what I can do with it. On pace for a 42.4 went faster in a race with no slip 42.1 in the 4C. You can out brake the viper in this car!

I was having people think they can out brake you, and just cross them over as they over shoot in the kitty litter! Not fast, on the start, but get up and moving. And you're a viper hunter

I did 3 races at Sardegna in the Meta Viper. I haven't driven it much before, but it seems fine. Lots of corner exit wiggles, but that's on me. I set a quick time of 1:42.8XX and got to some Sport mode.

Race number 1 had me in P6 to start. I avoided 2 wrecks on the opening lap, and finished P3. Not much happened in the race aside from a short battle with a WRX.

My second race had me P10 on the grid. I touch the grass on the outside of the final turn and I get sideways, dirt track style and I try and save the car. But I get hit dead on the driver's side door and that spins me. Then the next, lap I mess up the turn before the final turn, and spin after hitting the wall. No one to blame but myself for those. I finish P13 with a clean race bonus.

My final race has me P8 on the grid. I don't know if it was me, but there was lots of lag in the lobby. So, that might have contributed to a 2 second car collision penalty I got on lap 2. I serve the penalty and surprisingly don't lose a spot. So, I finish P5 and call it a night there.

I also did a single Race A as I like to go fast in a mostly straight line, but it quickly turned into a demolition derby and that's no fun to me. I'll be back for more Sardegna tomorrow as I like this configuration of the track.

Getting up to speed in Sardegna. Shaved 4 tenths to a '41.474 on the Viper. I'm still "learning" the car, but I think I've understood few lil things about it:

• the engine brake is massive, so keep in mind that's better to release the brake before usually and let the car roll and do its work. Especially at turn 1, 5, 6 and the last fast left blind one.
• Being a bit rude with the car helps, expecially when it start wiggling. It allows strong countersteer, contrary to other cars.
• the snaps happened mostly when I wasn't carrying enough speed mid corner (especially at 1st one) with too much lock angle of the steering at a slower speed than required. So, even if it doesn't seem so evident, the car can turn with less effort (lock angle) than expected.

Still I'm not at all gentile like I was on the Supra, the Lexus or the M6.
I did a 5 laps session at SSRX also. I've seen that the leader uses a trick. Just going backwards till almost the exit of the tunnel of the back straight and start from there. Got a '23.086 and today I'll give another try to break the '23 barrier.
The week btw looks very promising.

One thing about the Sardegna race I don’t like is that SR penalties “seem” turned up and any innocuous contact (brushing, slight bump that doesn’t alter speed or trajectory) count as big negatives. Even being around crashing cars seems to affect it.

I’m as clumsy as the next guy but it seems pretty sensitive this week in B.

Try the Hyundai Genesis too - it drives really well, very stable and turns in nicely too. I beat my Viper QT with it, but haven't tried it in race yet. I notice it makes a few appearances in the top 10.

I've only seen one race won by a Viper so far - 458 a couple of times, Corvette a couple, and GT500, to name the few I can remember!

If you claim your profile all of that information will be updated to your current stats. You can use the chrome browser plugin (it just validates that its your account) and then it will start tracking your stats correctly?

I thinks thats what needs to be done?

The data for that account was last updated on the 13th March

Edit: @brockie you can change you PSN ID once for free or pay to have it changed if you've already done it once, you don't lose anything you have bought etc

I've already claimed my profile since the beginning, so stat wise it's not a problem. Differents PS account's stats can't be merged, luckily. I just thought that, like in CoD ie, copying a nickname wasn't allowed for evident reasons. Knowing that somebody else can do sh... "in my name" is lil disturbing, btw.

It's your driving name, not your PSN name. You can toggle between the two in-game if it bothers you that much.
It's predominantly a single player game so it'd be a bit lame if you can't use the name "J. Smith" to race with a name like the AI do because of there being 5000 other J. Smiths playing the game.

It’s only the nickname BBR which is a faux pas, I don’t mind the ID and I think I may lose trophies stats if I do 😁

It takes a couple of races! I won, my last race of the night! I get what you're saying, I for sure was enjoying it! The start sucks, but was nice coming out of T1.

I was racing mixed A+/A with B mixed in all night! At 1st I couldn't keep up with anything, but found the sweet spot!

Pace in race b is amazingly hot, I can't get to grips with the meta and tbh I dont like it anyways. The beetle is actually quite fast but it's all in the corners and impossible to pass, the Ford gt has immense top end but accelerates too slow. I enjoy the track but in split A/A+ rooms i am qualifying bottom 4 and only making ground by avoiding carnage.

Tried this Hyundai and it’s also a nice car to drive, gearing is a little different but it’s solid.

I was getting really frustrated earlier trying to break into the 1.41s, again hit a 42.030 🤨

Finally nailed it in the Viper by putting the brake balance back at 0 from +5 😁 and then hit a 41.963 and followed by a 41.961 🙄

That’s me sticking with a car and with a time I think!

Nicknames aren't required to be unique. It's just a name you enter (with up to two changes allowed) in GT.

Only your PSNID is required to be unique, though even then you can get a little creative and mimic it.

Thanks, guys, now I understand better the system. I know it may seem silly, but i'm sort of attached to my nickname (a lot actually). I got it playing tag (always thieves side) and spent all my childhood with it. I should be rather more flattered by an imitation instead. After some reserch I just discovered that it's quite a common Family name; there's also a software dev. company so named. Nevermind, my bad.

Did Race C. Started with a FULL SR S. The first chicane does what it does, not penalties, no major contact. The second chicane, someone in the back OBLITERATES the field like a cannonball. I get hit, I get sent into the cars in front of me, and we all end up in the runoff area. I get a short cut penalty (fine, I guess, not like it was my choice, 🙄)

Then in the later laps, the most annoying and unnecessary maneuver of bump drafting from some dude behind me for a few laps.

Race ends and now and ALMOST EMPTY SR A.

I can't race anymore this week because if I have even the smallest decrease in SR, I'll be punted back down to DR A or worse....no thank you. I'll wait for a Race A where I can regain SR.


Of ALL the tracks to race the F3500, WHY OH WHY pick Monza? Even professionals collide at these chicanes. What do they expect from (what was likely) some unemployed kid on summer break? And the seemingly random ghosting...why not ghost someone who missed their braking zone?

Anyone wondering why I've been doing my custom races instead of dailies?🙄

Did you ragequit or you finished that race?

No ghost system at all and heavy damage always on. The clowns that enjoy swiping the field with that rocketship sendings would think it twice before doing that because their race would also end there.

The thing is, that well a lot of these bad drivers at High B/A should already know better and to adjust their braking.

I don’t think they care being completely honest, the mutually assured destruction thing.

On the GTWS with that settings (in my lobbies at least) the experience was always good with the people taking things more seriously.

Different level of both approach to the races and ability typically especially with them having usually longer race formats and either a difficulty or strat thing thrown in.

I enjoyed the SFs at Suzuka a lot more than these at Monza but I know I’m a like what I like kinda guy and that doesn’t make it better or worse, just a pref.

Yep. In the two previous races, I had full SR with no deductions. Then, KABOOM! I don't think I would lose that much SR if I torpedoed someone, and yes I finished. I was SHOCKED

Maybe it's because of the bowling pin like way I was punted into so many other cars, quickly followed up by a 2 second shortcut penalty...for getting punted into the runoff... 🤔

Yes, but end everyone else's race as well. I hear where you're coming from though, race ending damage should eventually cause people to be more careful...or not 🙄

If you have a beef or a grudge with someone or just want to cause a bit of chaos then I don’t think it’s the answer as people will just do that (remember pink meme and they are exceptionally fast in some combos!)

It also then punishes everyone, how many times do we all get caught up in other peoples stuff because bad ghosting or rebounds or rejoins or decision making (theirs and or ours) when it’s fairly innocuous and just too close to the sun.

There has to be a better balanced way for the casual dailies and more serious dailies need to be added. 2p

Agree 1 million pc on Monza, it is asking for trouble and makes zero sense. Spa, Fuji no chicane or Kyoto full track seem better alternatives. I'd also add barcelona but we used that last time.
