If you go on You Tube there’s a great short film from the 60s called something like ‘Ford goes racing with Shelby’. It has a really good discussion of the line around Willow courtesy of the great Pete Brock! And Ken Miles does the driving. Track hasn’t changed since then save for the addition of curbs.

A truly gem that I didnt know!

Thanks for that

Wow!
I can't believe I held off all those A+ drivers (I'm not a legitimate A+).
Feeling lucky and happy.
I hardly ever race with this account, because I fear demotion. Sometimes things just work out. :)
Well, from now on you can proudly say that you beat the cream of the America´s top split regulars!
I counted at least 5 aliens there who regularly ranks in the top 100 timers.

Congrats!

Sir Barney of the Canine persuasion... Wow! Honestly, incredible time at Big Willy Willow 🤯😶 And in the much-less stable M6 to boot! Really well done mate! Took me like 45 minutes of fiddling with the wheel settings to find my ideal setup for the BRZ... At least, once I honed in the DD Pro, I set consecutive PB's before Mrs Techno came to remind me of the time here.... 😅🤣🫣

Here is my best so far, with all 3 Sectors being purple since attempting to set the time today.

Also @Barney Da Dog would you be interested in setting up a video call between the both of us and also @newmedia_dev ? Just so we can laugh at him... 🤣😘

Put a pretty good lap in but may give qualifying another attempt later in the week, depending on how things develop. Hope to see some of y'all out there!

Hm, the BRZ felt pretty much perfect (very easy to drive) last time we were at Willow Springs but this time I found it less stable to be honest, can't quite put my finger on it but didn't feel as good. Nevertheless, set a 11.973 in it after a short while as it's still very quick of course.

Gave the M6 a go later and felt that the speed was definitely there. Took a bit longer to get that lap done but just before and through the Budweiser Balcony section I found the M6 easier and more planted. Of course it also has the speed advantage on the BRZ but loses out in the long sweeping corners and in the race the M6 sadly suffers a little bit more tyre wear. Done two so far where I lead from start to finish, 18.27 in the BRZ which felt kinda scruffy and could've been better. Later in the M6 I drove better and more consistently and was certain it was going to be faster but ended up being a 18.29.

I found the BRZ a bit twitchy in the middle parts but very good through the longer corners - it's probably me not driving it very well though (will watch some replays of others' laps) The BMW felt more stable overall, but I lose out a lot in the races as I don't think I'm pushing enough.

@NAXEHT That's an amazing time! Are you changing tyres in the race, or just a stop and go?

Edit/
Race B - seems the WRX is the main contender now - it feels more willing to turn, but also more skittish if you get a wheel on the grass. Never has a few hundredths of a second been so important for grid position😮

I must admit that daily C is a very good combo.
Im still hating the track (maybe a bit less than yesterday ) but the race is frantic and funny.

I feel I have no pace here because Im too "shy" attacking turn 9.
That last right hander had to be designed by Satan himself.
I never know if Im hitting the apex with great success, if Im taking it as a granny on a sunday walk or if Im going to land my car on Area 51.

This is the most difficult turn in the whole game for me.

I did just one race. Started on P6, keep my car on the track for the whole race and managed to lose only one position wich I consider a great success given the fear I have for this thing.

I will be coming for more to see if I can tame that scary turn.

Thank you! I do switch tyres. The wear is too high for a stop and go if you ask me (especially on DualSense). Being out in the lead with dead rubber and drivers behind you gaining sec per lap doesn’t sound too great either.

I didn't like it at first (GT Sport days) but grew to love it - it's great when you get it hooked up right.
And also great when others don't.. old GT Sport daily below..

Warming up for a quick lap?😎 I found I had been driving the BRZ 'wrong' - 2nd gear is bad, and 3rd, and sometimes 4th if I'm not careful

Many thanks, I'd no-stopped in the BMW and was setting personal bests in the last laps, but losing out a lot to BRZs in the corners, so probably lost a lot more time overall. I'll try again with a tyre change and see how I get on

It saddens me a bit that the Corvette isn’t meta at Williow.

I really need to use something else the Beemer is fine if not boaty but I just can’t get on with the BRZ:(
I was only 0.2 off my PB driving the Evo we used a few weeks back for Red Bull Ring. Need to be wary of 2nd gear though, otherwise, it was fun.. And the old NSX is also my go-to car for fun laps :)

That last right hander had to be designed by Satan himself.
A tip I have for it in VR is that doing a few laps with really early lifting and getting comfortable with the apex curb on to the straight. In VR I get the “sense” of dipping down to it and the confidence to stay on the power.

The other thing I combine with it is staying in the higher gear to get comfortable with the coasting speeds and feel.

Gonna sound like a dk but it’s actually not a bad corner once you build the muscle memory, that god damn up hill right hander/the exit of the corner before is the widow maker!

If you get the last corner nailed it should feel really nice and rewarding as the full acceleration through the apex is one of the best in the game at high speed.

Just my 2p

It's actually my preferred corner of the game. I hate the fact that I can't practice to be competitive during this week there.
At the beginning it seems exactly like your description; pure nemesis, especially when losing all avantage on your precedent PB by messing it.
When it clicks (you'll see), you just wait with impatience during all laps to get back there. Especially when exiting and the guy behind you, if someone is there, slowly desappears from your mirrors. Or, the guy has 1 sec advantage entering the corner and you pass him "easy peasy" before turn1.

Only managed to have a couple of Daily Race A's and it was fun, but it you get penatlies it hurts hardest in these little HONDA rockets.

Finally decided to jump into some racing today, didn’t do anything Monday as I wasn’t feeling the week, you know I don’t do race C 😁

Only put some quali in yesterday and was almost put off by how painfully slow the N-one is 🤣

On my lunch today I had a 1220 race A, started 5th against some DR A drivers and managed to pull off the win and then, jumped straight into the 1230 race B 🤣 and started pole, I’m mid B at the moment since the shenanigans at Sardegna, but won that too, almost didn’t when this toerag tried thumping me off final lap last corner

Thanks for the tips guys!

I always watch the Tidge´s lap guide but this week he used the BRZ and I cant drive that thing, is beyond my capabilities.

Yesterday, Cyrus upload his guide for the M6 and I understood a few things I was doing wrong (not only in turn 9 but also in the cambered uphill and down hill sector)

And now I feel Im starting to enjoy this track!

Glad to see the back of kyosho today, I've been getting gold lately and I can't get that two ton POS into silver even
Assuming you mean the time trial, I had that trouble at first, until I realised I'd left traction control on 3 from trying to tame the F1 car at Monza. As soon as I knocked that off I went from, couldn't even get Silver, to Gold on my first clean lap.
