Did some qualifying for Race A yesterday. I found it a lot easier to improve my time when I realized that I should avoid downshifting to 2nd gear. Instead, even when 2nd gear is recommended, I do my best to keep it in 3rd. When I do this, I seem to save a ton of time versus downshifting. I think it's because the Focus ST is a stick-shift, right? So it takes a notable amount of time to upshift from 2nd back into 3rd, versus a car with a sequential manual or a DCT.

Check Tidgney's lap guide, it's rather more related to the torque"s delivery of the turbo engine.

Glad to see the qualifying times for daily race A have been ruined by wall riding. I'll admit, it's kinda fun for a quirk but it ain't racing..

It’s been a while but I thought I’d have some Focus ST action. I think the other drivers forget what game they’re in. Our race turned into a demolition derby. At least that was what it felt like at times.

There was not a single car that didn’t need a lot of work in a body shop after that. Abysmal driving.

I got taken out on lap one with a move that looked like the opener of a game of pool. Cars flying off everywhere. In the end, I managed to work my way up and avoid all the shenanigans and finished the race in third. Some drivers lived up to their tag name. Unfortunately, I can’t name them here.

Ps. While awful, it was also kind of funny. But I didn’t want to race with that crowd, so it was just the one race tonight.

But getting that perfect release from the wall feels so good🤣.
Just happened to turn on Rory's stream as he was loading your ghost. He was saying something like "This guy's quick and he won't do it! He won't wallride! He won't do it!".

Then a sad and confused look on his face as his on-screen heart rate monitor steadily rose...

I will say this mate, there's no way I would have entered this Time Trial If the wall riding was discovered within the first few hours on Monday. But I had no choice seeing as how it was discovered on day 2 and I already ran laps, I need to protect my DG-Edge rating (almost 99).

Bad luck - looks like you're going to have to try again, they've wiped all the times!

Didn't they see this coming? As soon as I did a lap of the track I remembered times getting scrubbed for wall riding when we raced here previously, a different track variation I think, other way around? But same basic issue.

People wall riding every lap in race a is yet another reason why sport mode desperately needs a reporting feature for on track issues.
Everyone that wall rode in my race ended up at the back of the pack. Those that made a proper turn were the ones that lead the race.

I'll admit my QT was set with wall ride (after I saw @Metalgear9493 ghost) but I have yet to achieve the "perfect release" so my normal lap is only 0.1 slower.

Looks like Race A is one of those events where releasing the brakes just before the lights go out gives you an advantage at the start.

Seen it a few times this afternoon - although you get a penalty it looks as though the impetus you get from jumping the start is carried through to when you have finished the penalty, thus negating the effect of the penalty.

The R8 (my fav MR car in Gr.3) needs some desperate buff.
For this weekly C is a good choice for setting a lap but a terrible choice for the race.

Its weird because on acceleration it suffers from "turbo lag" without a turbo in its engine
If you put it to drag with another naturally aspirated cars (458 or 911 for example) it gets totally obliterated.

In Interlagos, be prepared to give up one position before the Senna esses almost against every other cars.
I give up on the R8 for that reason and Im sticking with the 458 for the rest of the week.

458 feels great around there (my fav Gr3 car though) but I can't get on with the Huracan.
I had a race with 7 different cars in the top 10 finishers 😮 911, 650, RCZ, 458, R8, Huracan and a GT-R.
The racing has been mostly very clean and enjoyable so far - picked up my first Gr3 win in ages too 😎

The Lambo seems faster here (on the last left hander is a rocket!) but it has worse tyre wear than the 458 (at least with my driving style).
With the lambo I cant do the no tyre change strat and thats why I discarded it.

With the 458 I choose to pit when necessary and I can change tyres or not depending on wich lap I pit and the gaps.

I was skeptical about this combo but its a good one.

Yeah I've been doing no change of tyres on the 458 and lap times are pretty steady the whole race, some in the 33.7s, but mostly low 34s, even on the last couple of laps.

The race I won was helped immensely by some chaos behind me on lap 1, which gave me a nice 3 second lead by lap 2.

Another race I went from P6 to P2 after stopping on lap 1, then having clean air until the last 2 laps.
