Very respectful racing all round. Honestly it looks and probably was you trying to take the widest line and they were there. In the moment in the busy phase it all gets complicated.

Nobody did anything malicious or wrong.

I just don’t think that was the place to try anything, it makes it slow and complex/messy. You were much faster and there are more definitive passing places.

Just my 2p/2c

Edit:

Watching back a bit slower and considered it looks like you kept trying to get the wider line and rear ended someone.

I think this is one of the prime examples of visual drift and honestly a symptom of why we all feel race craft is poor because decision making isn’t good. Side by side in the fastest part of the track? While the front pack drives away?

The cars in front are all bunched, so are going to have to brake earlier. This is not a sign of weakness or opportunity….its just how the race is playing out.

Not at you Neville but man this is most of the problem is that there is zero appreciation of the actual race just positions.

At you Neville you have big boy pants, this is all cool (but a bad idea) and you rear end a person. That is on you, the brake is always there.
It's not as it seems. The Beetle is underpowered, I got a run onto the the esses and judged it about right to make a straight-forward pass up the inside in the 2nd best passing spot on the track. I got almost too good a run but if I lift I lose momentum so had to make it work around the outside of the final turn before the braking zone. I leave plenty of room but he gets a bit of a wobble and tags me, from there I keep my wheel straight but seems i was not aimed square so possibly drifted a mm to the left (it is hard to tell but playing devil's advocate).

It's here where you get it all wrong. The next series of contact leaves me unstable, the car get a bit of air, bit loose out back and I shoot long but I am a passenger at that point. This was hardly the desperation move you make it sound, there's basically 3 solid passing spots on this track and this is as good as any of them.

Regardless, fact remains, both replays look different and that is weird as per @cyirush experience.

I just noticed something, watch the white line that frames the track to the left of my competitor, in both POV he drifts twice from near that line to the right and back again so I think we both sort of accidently merge a bit.

Think race, not places.

If we ignore the better line you still rear ended a car?

Come on, where was your head at? Probably busy with trying to pass the car that honestly I’d of tucked in behind with everyone so close.

There was nothing wrong in any of those replays, just arguably leaving it in and him not conceding BUT you rear ended a car quite a long way in front….please realise that the bigger issue is not you racing someone but that you are so focused on that battle you hit a car for no other reason than you were worried about your position rather than the whole race happening around and in front of you.

Be a better faster driver, you can’t call out replays and the most mediocre of taps when you rear end someone not involved in your battle and a fair bit down the road. Rationalise for godsake.

They don’t to be absolutely honest, just lobby lag and clumsy driving there is nothing weird about them.

Again you rear ended someone and navigated the issues, if anything in both cameras it look like you cut back in to their rear quarter going by…I doubt by their driving style they wanted to PITT themselves…

I was at his rear axle and had the inside line before we hit the deep braking zone in the best Group 3 car in the game for braking and making an apex. If you don't pass there you're just circulating not racing. If we don't make contact I execute the pass cleanly and the contact was accidently initiated by the other guy as he got a wobble on turning left.

ALso I never "made the pass rear ending someone", I held position and got a 5 second penalty (total time loss).

No, you need compliance from that car to take the wider line….

It doesn’t matter what group of cars a commitment of the overtake has to be clear and concise.

You hit the deep braking zone when those in front were racing their race which was to be conservative, you came from a long way back to make the move ignoring the race in front of you and rear ended a car?

You do see why the “moment” you have an issue with spilled in to a moment for another driver.

We can talk about axles and position but it was just the slowest way to go up the hill, with nobody clearly ahead so it’s a game of chicken and you hit a car in front…..by a fairly long way who’d braked at the right place to not hit cars infront?

I don’t know how else to be honest and candid but also friendly, racing gets complicated in complicated places on a track, it slows everyone down. Rear ending a car with way more force that some side banging is not cool, it means you “don’t have your car” and that is not fun to race with.

I’m on the receiving end of these sort of incidents, and it boils my piss when it was someone else over trying and not braking reasonably.

Just not good thinking from you or him but you ran in to the back of someone???

My move around the outside was clean, no contact, i left him room later into the final turn and he drifted well wide of the white line he was hugging. He unsettled my car, I miss my apex as the car gets light from the contact. No idea how that's on me and reminder the only loser from this situation was me, no one else lost a spot.

TBH I think you need a break from the daily races as you never seem to enjoy them.

The move was fine, it all got a bit clumsy as is the lag.

You rear ended a car executing the pass which the the other car was still battling for? Correct me if I’m wrong?

Don’t confuse my desire for better standards for not enjoying my 6000 races bud.

I expect better from myself and others. I enjoy them and do them week in and week out, to a very good pace and standard, doesn’t mean I don’t question myself or others. It’s how we improve.

I didn't hit anyone executing the pass, by the point of braking I was just trying to hang onto it bevause despite giving my man two full car widths he drifted I to my space. Its really that simple. I did not squeeze him amd had a legit run up the inside with ample room in front of me if I could have grabbed the brake on time rather than feverishly trying to save it.

Exactly. It’s not about your driving; it’s about the discrepancy in the replays. As I’ve already said, I experienced the same thing at DTS. And it’s happened before when I’ve checked the replay from both cars.

Wow I was really looking forward to race A, been so busy with the kids and work lately I thought why not have a few nights chill and do an oval race for fun, especially givem ovals were immpossible with a dpad.

I can't keep the dang thing on the track, barely lasted a lap in each of my 4 races. I can't seem to get the hang of watching what's in front of me and watching my radar at the same time in such close quarters. 3 of the 4 races I turned across someone by mistake.

ive a lot to learn.

It’s still not a great idea, and to make the pass rear ending someone.

It’s just not a good idea to try to overtake at every point to go fast, and it’s race time that matters and how low you can get that number positions are pointless metrics
You deserve a medal or at least a cookie. So right, so true. And then we also get a bit away from this "arcade feeling".

So they acknowledge NASCAR by setting up this race but we'll get a tuk tuk in the next update instead of a NASCAR? I hope this indicates there is a NASCAR coming, doesn't have to be official, call it GR.N. I haven't loaded GT up for months but a NASCAR will bring me straight back.

This is the second time we get this particular race and that was week 11 so I wouldn't count on it meaning anything. That said, I’d love it as well, official or unofficial.

You know? Sometimes starting from the back is advantageous.🤣

Bumped into @NevilleNobody though his race was over fairly quick being the second car out.

GT7 | Daily Racer A | Starting from back avoids the chaos?

How bad am I! My aim in these races is just hang with the pack and learn but nope, I gotta watch radar more or maybe even change views to one with a mirror. I love the commentary BTW, you have the voice for it and could pull off sim commentary in advanced leagues.

Official would be a bit hard with iRacing launching their own official Nascar game next week on console, but a generic modern stock car would be good.

My races went, last to 8th twice and then mid pack (don't remember the position, but something like 7th) to DNF in <1 lap. LOL.

Honestly, I'm kind of wishing I'd never QT. This is the perfect race for "race from the back" and seeing just how far up the pack you can get.

As for my voice over. Well to me it sounds terrible :D. The first take was a better commentary but was massively overblown and distorted. So I recorded again and got it sounding better but the commentary was not as good. I have a professional mic on my desk for "serious" work but this was just using the Sony Pulse Elite headset. I since found out, that adjusting the mic input volume level to minimum in the PS5 settings, fixed the distortion and now it sounds pretty good, but at this point I'd already uploaded the video.

But I'll do more commentary when I post in the future now I've figured it out for quick takes on the PS5.

Only issue is once you lose the tow it is allover red rover, circulating alone. I'm going to jump on in my lunch break and just try and stay in the damn race without turning across other people's lane!

Edit: Hahha had a good one. I still managed to cut across one bloke by accident but managed to hold it and after holding my breath through some carnage managed a fun win. This was fun.

And another bonkers one, felt I drove well here, kept it straight. Some blokes need to learn that if it is just the two of us you don't need to hog the inside, take fast lines and I will nudge you to the rear of the pack, then we race.

Not raced yet...working more than normal..

Did some laps on spa yesterday but...some minutes and 2.23 😆..need some hours there....

Got 1 hour after work to try C and got 1.15.222

@newmedia_dev you are giving me a lot of hardwork in the leaderboard 😆

Another round of Race A for today. Got a clean Q7/P8, then improved my qualifying time to 0:47.424, placing me within the top 4.3k! So with that new time, I entered again, and got a Q6, but spun out and decided to just exit. Still fun!

All three races are a freakin' blast this week, don't even know where to begin. Should be a fun evening at the console, if it happens. 🤣

The 'Birds on the oval was on-point last time, was more fun than I thought possible making nothing but left turns.😁

I hope you have fun this week, what you could do to make the week more fun is do an equal set of races for each section. A,B, and C organized. Like you could do 5-6 races for each segment. It's up to you though. Daytona's always a blast to race at no matter what car you use.
