Dang, I’m gonna be out of town for basically this whole set and miss it. :(

I guess I’ll have to just check out the real thing instead.

That pic would go harder if it was the LMDh... If we ever get it...
We’re actually never going to get that because it doesn’t exist. 😬 It’s a Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) chassis. šŸ¤™

Decided not to race tonight in favour of some qualifying, tried the ferrrai after watching the Tidge guide but couldn’t get near my 911 time so I’m sticking with that.

Gr3 Brands trust me is going to be a real pain until around Thursday and then hopefully it settles down and becomes a race event šŸ˜šŸ™

Some solid times out there already, Barney leading the way šŸ”„
I got up at 4.30am to get a few hours or quali and a few races in, shaved a couple of tenths off my time but I just don't have the car under any control what so ever, super inconsistent and just not really enjoying it.

Haven't enjoyed any of the races I've done so far, just doesn't seem like there is anywhere to pass and just way to easy to get bumped off and ruin the race, couple that with the fact I have zero control of the car and it's a recipe for disaster.

Jumped in to 2 races and found myself in B lobbies so starting in the top 3 - got pushed off on lap 1 in both races and finished in the last few places, finished the second race, unplugged the rig and picked it and and walked it out in to the garage for storage! Now I'm at work this may have been an over reaction  but I will take a few days off I think.
Haven't tried the Porsche yet. Just about to. I'll let you know.

Just finished my 3rd race. At low DR B my 1:
25.3 has been good enough for pole so far.

Won the first race, finish 4th second race, spun out on the 3rd and finished 10th.

I made it my aim to try to stay calm and concentrate on getting around the track safely rather than racing the other cars.

A lot happier than this time yesterday.

Having now tried tried the Porsche, in my opinion, there's barely anything between them. 25.1 QT in the Porsche.

If anything I'd say the Porsche is the slightly safer option.
25.1 is fast mate - dunno how you getting these down, are you finding the Porsche easy to control? 24 coming in today hopefully!!!!!!
2 more races done. Finished 3rd in the Porsche and won another in the Ferrari!

The WR lap replay was so helpful - down the gears to get the nose turned in then quickly upshift on exit. Pretty much the same strategy for every turn.
I tried this on a few turns and was just overslowing the car, just too fast and powerful for me at the moment I think

Brands is typically very hard to nail consistently, I hate T1 and those two dive around corners towards the end are lap killers too, but I’ve been trying TC1 on qualifying and it helps, got me my 25.6, I think there is more time there as I just chucked a 25.8 in but not sure how much more time I can find, might need to study a little.

Saw you improved 😁 keep going it’s only Tuesday and it’s a new track so don’t be disheartened just yet, remember you won’t be great on all tracks, but that time suggests you should be good here šŸ‘

I dropped to B inevitably but the racing has been good, clean, got 2 x 3rd place finishes and a 10th when someone clumsily took us both out

Yeah I will probably calm down and try again later - might wait for the Mrs to go to bed before I bring the rig back in as she saw me storming though the house with it hoisted above my head and a face like thunder at 7am and laughed her head off šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Yeah I got it down to low 25's and felt like the lap was still mega scrappy so feel like if I can get my act together then I could get into the 24's, might have a go at TCS 1 if I try again.

Was going to jump into C but I feel that just going back to Gr4 where I'm comfortable is counter productive for long term improvement.

I'll be following you into B if I do jump back in, I've also got blisters on my thumbs where I put so many hours into DT last week so might have to get some gloves :lol:

When I get pushed off track a lot I sometimes rage quit because I have something better to do with my time than being annoyed. But after 1 or 2 days I want to come back because the racing can be so good when it is done cleanly! Hopefully tonight I have some time and energy left for at least 1 Yamagiwa race.

It's certainly not like driving the 4wd Atenza. In some senses it's the opposite. On that car throttle application would pull the car into the turns.

You're obviously already quick and don't need my advice but if I were going to give some i'd say delay throttle application slightly whilst you straighten the wheel then get back on the gas.

Look up tidgney's video he did for the pagani Zonda at dragon trail time trial from the start of the year. Same principles apply to these cars.

Thanks Nick, I will take every single bit of advice I can get my hands on so please keep them coming as my actual knowledge of what i am doing is quite minimal. I think you're right, I am so used to just flooring it in the Atenza that I'm struggling with the rear wheel.

I've gone for +5 brake balance, is this going to make the car even more likely to spin? I've done it because Tidgney said so but I don't really understand it all, would I be better leaving it at neutral?

Try the 2022 Porsche or some of the MR cars. You can apply the throttle earlier because of the extra weight on the rear axle. But the best way of course is to learn how to brake and rotate properly so you can apply the throttle earlier in any car.

haha I'm in the 2022 Porsche and still struggling šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø I'm not sure If I am just trying to take the corner too fast or bad lines

I've looked back and all of my good weeks have been Gr4 where I've been in the top 2,000 times, any Gr3 week it's outside the top 4,000 so there is deffo a skill issue I have to overcome here.

Are you sticking with Race C or going to do some Race B?

My brake balance is default. I'll try +5 when I get home after work. More rear brake bias should in theory help the car rotate under braking only. Haven't seen his guide yet but will check it out later.

In Forza Motorsport RWD drive was the meta, 4wd was generally uncompetitive. Consequently over the past couple of years I've logged over 2000hrs driving rwd cars in game. I'm just not very good in 4wd cars and worse in fwd as the technique required is different.

Here's the link for some useful driving techniques when driving a high powered RWD car esp. on corner exit.

Having done the Valkyrie Race twice, its very bonkers and crashville on entering turn 1 for sure but I enjoyed it! I did have a shifty driver block me as I was about to catch him for 4th place and pass him to the finish line, on the final corner on final lap in race 1 but they choose to be that way. Bad driving.

Daily Race B was better than I thought, but I still am not a fan of this combo. Having RH tyres with GR.3 cars is killer, even the Porsche and Ferarri's race cars are slip-sliding in these races. Lots of crashes happen as the slightest contact cause rage quits & chaos....and the grass is big no-no for these cars, one contact and youre buggered son!!!

Daily Race C I have not tried yet.

Perseverance is key to this game and I’m sure we have all suffered from frustration at some point when we struggle to hook up a lap.
Certain tracks suit certain styles, I for example always struggle at Monza and Brands is similar (IMHO) to that, hence I also struggle a little here as well.
Interesting to read that some A drivers use TC1 on occasion as I was pushing to eliminate all aids!
A friend of mine JJ is using ASM rather than TC1 to help him and he’s laid down a 1.25.1 so maybe I should consider using driving aids when it suits.
Keep your head up mate, what you have done is remarkable in such a short period and I’m confident you’ll be smashing A soon enough.
Now I need to work on converting from AT to MT and that is going to be a challange and a half 🤔

@Stringerbell
Now that you're experiencing GR3, I suggest you to stick with the car you've chosen for some time (2-3 months) regardless if in future it will be meta or not. The '22 Porsche is one of the best all-rounder in the category.
If in Gr4 we basically "park" the car and slam on throttle, in Gr3 it's more "flow" (lil more coasting also) and more gentile on throttle.
Since you're still not used to this, don't push. Let the time go down gradually. Choose 1 corner at the time and focus on that till you're comfy, cruising for the rest of the lap trying to find/follow the correct line. Forget the leaderbord for a while, focus only on small improvements for now. Starting with BB at 0 will help, then add a klick till +3 max. +5 in that car makes the tale wanting to spin a lil too much.

Back to my favourite track, Brands Hatch! As long as you avoid the blade of grass just over the edge of the track, you can get some good racing.

Unlike you guys yo-yoing between A and B DR, I'm in the same position between B and C.

Had a strange week at GTS last week - each race I got a DR up, the next race I started higher up the grid until I ended up with a P3 start, finished P1. That pushed me up to DR B - first race at the new rating, started P4 šŸ¤”, finished P2.....

Anyway, slowly sinking back down at Brands due to the desperate driving at the bottom end of B - might need to get back down to C to get some clean races šŸ˜„.

I have to say, I haven’t used aids for years, but only just recently been playing a little with counter steering and TC, just to calm things down, I was sweating like hell yesterday trying to hang on to my wheel whilst this Porsche threw me around 😁

I think this week will go the same way as Monza did, bit nutsy whilst ppl get used to racing but weekend should be banging

I will always use some "aids" when dialing into the new week then reduce use as the week goes by.
911 with TC2 I have a 1.24.95

Thanks mate - just watched that, some great info in it. Been watching a few track guides and I think my racing line is completely wrong, everyone seems to be turning in waaaaaaaaaaay earlier than I am.

I'm not really enjoying the track or the racing but I'm fully intent on seeing it out until I break into the 24's

Are you on Wheel or controller transitioning to MT? it took me a few days to get the hang of it on the wheel, but once you nail it then it really does become second nature and adds a really extra boost of stopping power and also the immersion/enjoyment.

Great advice mate - I think I definitely will, I saw that with the Atenza, I used it for 3 weeks straight I think and have got super comfortable with it. Yes I think I will go back to 0 bb and add in 1 TCS and see if this helps me out, coasting is something I struggle with as I feel like I'm losing time.

Hey! I haven't yoyoed yet   I'm on life support in A!!!! don't turn the plug off on me yet!!!! :D

I found that C to B and back quite difficult for a few weeks, think I bounced 4 times before I got to DT Gardens that suited me and helped be progress, fingers crossed you put some results together this week to move further into B.
Thanks, it’s good to know and certainly feels better to know others do play around, I mean why wouldn’t you if it’s available 😁
I'm 100% having a go with this when I get back to see if it helps, you back home for a few races? let me know if you try the TCS and also how you get on with the racing.

I’m using a TM T-GT2 with T-LCM pedals. I’m content to lose time for a period as I try to transition to MT and will see how it goes 😳

Yeah I got a few in, i reckon I’m tumbling down the DR this week, the whole lobby was BS and I was starting 8-10 😬 perfectly nice and clean lobby and good racing, made a mistake and finished near the back first race and did the same second race 🤨

I think I’m braking too early so I’ll try later on to be a little later in the brakes and accelerate faster 😁 tough week so far

Good luck, keep us updated with how it goes! Hopefully you’ll be faster and having an even more fun in no time!!!

I tried with the TCS and it made it far more stable but I’ve come to the realisation that im just not enjoying the actually racing, regardless of where I’m starting as I’ve started between P3 and P15 and haven’t enjoyed any of the races. As much as I want to improve I also have to realise it’s a game and if I’m not enjoying it, I don’t have to play it šŸ˜‚šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø may have a blast at C later in the week.
Don't know if this has been picked up, but they've shortened Race C by one lap:

Thanks - I think this is the push I needed to switch from B to C

Strange how we vary isn't it, -2 has proved quicker for me.....

Not likely - think I'm one more race away from C!

Edit: Temporary reprieve 😁

To me it sounds like you're coming down with a touch of GT7 burnout. I'm going to prescribe you a week or two break.

You'll be back refreshed before you know it!
