Well I definitely can’t improve on my times at Willow, I’ll just chalk this one up to being not my strongest track and it is what it is!

The one thing though, I’ve been really enjoying the racing, literally no one on either of my accounts, one which is low B is being purposefully dirty, everyone is trying their best to stay on track, with the person at the side 😁

Once the more peak times are raced I might see this differently 😁

Fingers crossed for a good race A next week 🙏

Next week's Race C is a given Gr.4 race (as this week Race C is Gr.3) & also because Gr.4 + GT Seaside is a very common combo to come across. The best thing about this race will be the usage of two racing tyre compounds to add a good mix of strategies.

Race B is the surprising one. Probably Gr.3 but considering the layout, will we only race 2 laps which may even seem longer considering Race B has a 20 minute span of operation. BTW, I love Nurburgring in reverse so it's going to be a double treat with Race C.

Fingers crossed for a good race A next week 🙏
Same. As if it isn't I'm going to have another relatively quiet week. Will chip away at my Master Super license tests which is hot laps anyway so good practice. They're not easy though. (Golds obviously). The first one was a lap at Mt. Panorama in a 22 plate Civic; I thought I was going to blitz it but still took me just under an hour. :/

Well....
I've gained a couple of tenths coming out of the twisty bit, but appear to have forgotten how to do the rest of the lap!

May try again after work but will probably just stick to racing as even a couple of tenths isn't going to affect my race much.

Race C, so close to my first A+ GR3 win but threw it away all by myself at the corkscrew 😭
Race B has got to be your best bet for an A+ win hadn’t it with that quali?

@Uday9479 really looking forward to race C last week, I like DT Seaside a lot and think Gr4 works so well round there. Had a good quali for my level last time I was there a few months ago so hopefully can shave a good half a second or so off that as I feel I’ve improved a lot since then!

Good you’ve found some good racing mate! I’ve barely touched it since Tuesday. Going to have another crack at race C quali this evening to hopefully set up a weekend of racing!!

Mate Race C is where it’s going to be next week! Class track and with B not being very popular I imagine it will be super busy and competitive!!

Mate Race C!!! I think it will be really good next week!

I’ve not worked through the licences yet, are they fun? Beneficial to your driving improvement?

Can you remember our QTs for DT GR.4? Will be interesting to see if we've improved.

The licenses can be fun in short bursts. Some of the Gold's I got first or second attempt and also beat the instructor a few times which is fun. Some others I find to be super difficult esp. the drift, rally and snow ones. Worth a go if there's nothing else to do. :)

Yeah I've managed 2 this week, it's just GR3 I've never won at as A+. Managed a win in every other class but the GR3 remains elusive - likely due a higher percentage of aliens and YouTubers taking part.

I'll lose A+ next week, but I don't mind. I find mid/low A a more relaxing place (sometimes!)

I’ve heard god loves a trier 😂😂 stuck 116 laps in a row into Laguna Seca this evening in search of that ever elusive 21 and fell just under a tenth short!!!

Reckon I’ve stuck the thick of end 500 laps into Laguna this week so I think I can conclude that failing to get a 21 is deffo a lack of talent and not a lack of effort 😂🤦‍♂️

Frustrating as my optimal was a 21.7xx

You can check on the digit site mate under your profile and then go to events and it will show your quali time. Mine was 1.47.559. Hoping with the improvements I’ve made last few months I can shave that down into the 46’s. Hopefully without putting 800 laps into it!!!

Congrats mate!!! Give Laguna a few more cracks and hopefully it comes off!!

Is dragon trail a strong track for you? Hopefully you’ll pick up a buffer with good results this weekend!

The top or bottom of a DR rank is always the worst! The bottom is stressful you’ll drop out and the top is frustrating when you don’t get the result to get promoted! You’re right that the middle is the best place!!
Soooo missed racing this week and can’t wait to drive again on Monday. Been great to read about your adventures chaps 🕺🙏👌🏻🤠
Look forward to having you back on track mate 💪💪💪

I enjoy Dragon Trail - if it's seaside in the normal direction. If it's GR4 it'll likely be the Atenza again - which I don't enjoy 🤣

I just can never seem to get any speed it out of it - though I may have to give it another try 🤔

The Ferrari probably suits you better? I saw a fair few of those last time out at DT. Competitive too.

It has really strong brakes and drives like a normal car for me with no torque steer etc. does understeer though

Agree about the understeer, you really have to drive it through the turns. Seems like too much front bias on the drive split.

Yeah I'm not a fan of understeery cars, the last physics update seemed to make everything have more understeer overall.
May try 458 again 👍 the McLaren 650 used to be a good option but they ruined it several updates ago ☹️

Edit / anyone want a 650 wheel? 😉

I do enjoy reading you guys go into so much detail on the different types of cars and what they do/how they feel!!

I have zero idea 😂😂 I don’t even know if it’s front or rear wheel drive or where the engine is unless I hear or see someone talk about it 🤦‍♂️ I just know car go broom broom!!

@newmedia_dev on my was back home with PSVR2 tucked under my arm! Was an impulse purchase as I was getting some stuff for the kids.

Any advice?

Do I use the same braking references that I was using in bonnet cam?

You are gonna love it mate!!!!

Yeah I use the same braking markers mostly, some of them you can go a little deeper

Just get used to it and being smooth before instantly pushing, it’s like a wheel it takes a little bit of getting used to.

Welcome to the real world 😁. Try it out on a reasonably level track to start with; elevation changes on top of the 3D can be a bit much for some. If you feel dodgy, stop for a rest, you will build up tolerance quickly. A fan in front of you can help.

Be aware it will not look like the 4K resolution on your television, but once you get used to that the increase in immersion more than compensates.

Oh, and make sure you always go to the adjust visibility tool when you put it on, to make sure it’s properly centred.

@newmedia_dev @Shackster thanks for the tips.

Will jump on in a few hours and see how it goes.

My concern with it was I rely heavily on the delta in quali to see where I’m gaining ad losing time and also the leaderboard to see how the gap in front and behind is doing.

How have you guys dealt with not having that?

The lack of leaderboard doesn’t really bother me, I’ve played on vr since shortly after starting sport mode so have just got used to it. In qualifying again you get used to only seeing times at the splits, but the new Porsche and Ferrari both have real time delta readouts on the driver display.

Must admit have had a blast this arvo racing, in the alt account and in mid BS but really good fun, super clean,

I have to say ppl just don’t get it sometimes, I have no problem with someone who takes the last corner better than me and takes over me, for some this doesn’t compute, don’t let them pass, ok so we’re both off 🤣🤣🤣

I’m not that fast at willow, starting 9th or so, but I reckon I’m smart, finishing 4th +/- and watching it all unfold infront of me!

😁

OMG! I hate it 🤦‍♂️😂🤦‍♂️😂 like really don’t enjoy it at all!!!! Will preserve with it for the rest of the evening but I think it’s going to be an exchange or an unexpected gift for my eldest

😬 you sure you don’t want to try it a little more?

I have to say I was early doors it wasn’t for me, but I feel for you here mate as it’s quite disappointing, it was for me as I procrastinated about it for ages before I brought it.

Do one thing, buy Microsoft flight simulator and fly a cesnar through the Golden Gate Bridge

You might well keep it after that

Na I can tell it’s not for me but will give it a good go this afternoon. If for no other reason than going through the corkscrew is incredible with the elevation changes.

I can see why people love it as it’s definitely more immersive. I want to like it but it’s made me a bit nauseous, I don’t like the reduction in graphics and I can’t get on with the cockpit view.

I’ve seen you and Mr B doing that, might have to give it a whirl

Ok let’s dig a little deeper here.

What specifically do you hate?

Edit: also how do you drive your real cars? Sat on the roof? 🤣🤣🤣

Mate, I was totally the same, but the nausea will pass, I couldn’t get past the graphics either and yes, the inside the car view is also not for me.

Don’t worry, you can plug into your pc and do all sorts with the kids with it.

Flat screen racers rule!!!! 🤣🤣

😂😂😂

I’ve got a ram rebel truck! So I poodle around in an arm chair with a huge windscreen! I am definately not throwing it around corners at 100mph either

So the view just didn’t work for me, just couldn’t get on with cockpit, the sharpness of the graphics bugged me, only way I can describe it is that is felt like the windscreen was dirty, the brake boards were blurry until coming right up to them, motion sickness.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking it as I really want to like it. Will give it another crack tomorrow as it definitely makes me feel like there is nothing else going on other than me driving the car. I just can’t see myself getting any kind of pace.

Think it’s going to be the simlab and a monitor for me when I do upgrade. Just need to find a way to get the rig and seat to Dubai as shipping is 1100 Euro which is 140% of the cost of the rig 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Stick with it for a few days, the first day is the hardest but I had way to much to drink so powered through that first night accidentally.

To the graphics, are you sure it’s positioned right because they aren’t as sharp (focal rendering is especially different for the first few experiences)

I find the trade off for spatial awareness worth it for me by quite a factor but people’s mileage varies on these things.

What you should try is stop thinking this is “VR” but I’m in a race, do a few hot hatch races with the AI and definitely take an open top car for a spin (MX5, formula, the classic Porsche. Feel the sunshine and resist putting your arm on the door frame ;) )

I’ll definately try tho different races.

I found the spatial awareness way worse then bumper cam. I missed the apex’s on the first three turns on Laguna and then the left hander you throw it into I hit the sausage every time. The strut of the window frame was constantly in the way.

The corkscrew made my stomach do a somersault (in a good way) was such a real experience.

On the graphics, I reset and fiddled about with it a lot but I’m not 100% I’ve got it right
