Was seeing the legend Calster 25's live stream last night. If anyone uses the Audi, do remember to use DRS along the entire race on straights.

With the wife away I could get downstairs early and give race c a crack. Started with the GTR and immediately felt this was a combo where one would just keep finding time. After 10 laps I ran a 55.7, optimal low 55. Decided to do 2 races, one was a podium where I was the fastest but was bunped off early, other was mess. Both B rooms.

I felt there was more in me so decided to try the Lexus. It immediately felt even better, ran a 55.6 and decided to push. Was on pace for a 53.9 and binned it, but did manage a 54.1. I think that's tough to beat in B rooms and should be competitive in A rooms. Link to my lap below.

So the physics, for these cars I really like the change. I can lay on the throttle with more confidence and can catch a slide much easier than before. The FFB on my DD Pro feels excellent, much better than before. Not sure what group 3 or 4 feel like but in these gt500 cars I really like the change, especially the weighty feeling of the car rather than it floating.

I expected to be slower than most at St. Croix but not 5-8 seconds off the leaders in DR B. I finished 1:34 behind P1. Going to study the replay and see what I am getting wrong.

I don’t know how y’all are managing 1:53s when the best I cracked on RM was 2:04 in the meta GT-R.

Tried to share my reply for you to use but it's not working on PS for some reason so here it is for you to check out if you can maybe pick up a few things to get some extra pace.

Yeah I agree it seems like the more you race the more bits of time just drop off, are you sticking with the Lexus now? I'm a slave to the META.

I think you've summed up my feelings there, I tried Gr2 at Fuji pre update and was like driving on an ice rink, but this has been really enjoyable.

I need to put some work into S2 and S3 here, S1, S3, S4 I lose around one to one and half tenths to Tidgney's guide but I lose nearly a second through S2 and S3, just so hard to get a flow through those sections, I'm not using anywhere near enough track in those sections, Think if I can crack that I'll sneak into the 52's.

I think it will rather most likely be a '52-'52.5 in A rooms to be competitive and '53-'53.5 in B rooms. By the end of the week I assume those times will go down by about 0.8 sec ar.
On the physics I agree with you; it's way more easy (I'd say natural) to catch a snap oversteer. Moreover the stupid "pendulum effect" is disappeared and, when punted, it's less likely to get stuck facing the opposite direction of the track (at least in Yas Marina for what I could see during the weekend). Also you can drive-turn the car playing with the throttle, thing that was almost impossible before or just possible in long fast corners.

Doesn't mean you can't have fun tryin', tho. In order to have fun, you can't hate the race. Getting frustrated exacerbates that death spiral, lol.

Seriously, you can be crazy fast and attain some serious car control via any input device. That's the 'magic' GT brings to the table. Ask some folks around here. I think @Voodoovaj and @GOTMAXPOWER (if wrong, my bad😁) are both on controllers and @Tidgney runs laps on controller and wheel for some of his stuff. 👍

Yeah I'm on controller, there are quite a few of us in A+ on pad but that itself is still a huge way off the level you need for GTWS, Calster and Lamb have both qualified for the live events on pad so it is doable (or was with the previous physics at least) but they have to be more perfect than players on the toy steering wheels because the hardware is tying on of their hands behind their back. Calster streamed whilst he was doing the qualifying championship which showed the number of hours you have to put in even if you have the skill.

@Andyxdr Take it in baby steps, don't worry about trying to break world records straight away, as long as you're a little closer to the front than the week before you're heading the right way.

This is a cool site, I'm not sure how they get the data but you can compare your qualy laps against the top no matter how far down the leaderboard you are to see where the time losses are: https://gtsh-rank.com/daily/

After spending two days flogging the proverbial dead horse that is the Raybrig NSX Concept, I think today will finally be the time to try out one of the other GT500s if I'm to extract real pace in Race C.

I adore how the Honda handles, and I managed to squirm a few positions through the superior manoeuvrability through sectors 2 and 4, but nothing as dominant as the extra straight line speed offered by my opponents. Time to bite the Lexus/Nissan shaped bullet.

The lack of reporting for driving standards (which would fall under griefing) is by SIE's design, not PD's.

Well to be fair, it shouldnt be that way and PD could make attempts to change that.

My opinion is that if the game had heavy damage always on, that alone would discourage this kind of driving. I really think people need instant consequences for bad behavior. Same goes for the penalties.

Its sad because I remember the penalties being a lot better in gt sport. They weren't perfect but they actually discouraged dirty driving while gt7 seems to just allow it. The safety rating alone isnt enough

With first-party studios (particularly those whose business relationship is quite as odd as PD's/SIE's) it's all at the fiat of the publisher. PD cannot do anything about it.

SIE handles all community moderation for Gran Turismo, and their moderation staff are inexpert when it comes to niche stuff like driving standards (which can range from obvious trolling/griefing to a matter of opinion, to the perception of an incident that didn't actually happen) so the only things you can report are liveries and chat messages that are open and shut.

It's a deliberate choice from SIE to not put their moderation staff in the position of having an opinion.

You seem very upto speed with tech etc.... do you think an AI steward would be something simple for PD/SIE to implement? Could be an effective solution?

No. They don't have any moderation staff in any case (even on things like YouTube streams; that's SIE personnel), and certainly not the manpower to churn through the bajillions of driving standards reports they'd get on a daily basis (about 80% of which would be either vexatious, mistaken identity, a misunderstanding of racing standards, or nothing at all happened but they thought it did 'cos lag) but it's a fundamentally organisational matter: SIE deals with all community moderation.

That's also why chat has absurd censoring. It's SIE's community standards, and even vaguely technical things commonplace in car talk like "engine" get censored.

A few years back someone on here uploaded a KKK Turbolader decal - same as the one on the Porsche 962 - and got banned for hate speech, because the inexpert human saw "KKK" and came to the reasonable conclusion that someone inexpert would. I politely enquired about it to a contact (who got in trouble over asking about it outside the appropriate chain, because they're PD not SIE) and it was actually reversed.

Weirdly it seems that PD does have some input in some circumstances, as we've seen players getting pinged in GTWS events for various offences - notably race manipulation - but SIE issues the punishments.

As far as I'm aware, all SIE moderation is human. Maybe human-in-the-loop at most.

Given PD's track record with AI in GT, maybe it's not a great idea

I think the issue is volume.

The legitimate claims against intentional dirty driving would be lost amongst an avalanche of petty and unfounded squabbles, usually because of simple mistakes.

Personally I think an overhaul of the ingame penalty system would be the right thing to do. But then again when you see how many problems real racing series still seem to have with stewarding, it's never going to be a perfect system.
