GT7 Menu music

There is a lot of menu music in the game, but you wouldn't know it by how repetitive it sounds.

When I realized freakin' Rosalía is in the soundtrack of the game, I pretty much declared GT7 and the whole GT franchise dead in terms of music.

Thank god Spotify exists.

There are so many good songs in the pre race menu, but why they are exclusive of that area? I got tired of the same 4 songs in the menus since we always listen just the beginning of a song. So weird.

I would love to modify as i want my playlist on the menus. In race, I don’t listen music…

The main reason I have muted all music is because of the bizarre idea to skip song at every menu change... I mean, really?

I've literally stopped being friends with people because they're compulsive song-skippers.

How do you get traction for your music in GT? Well, you need a REALLY strong first half minute and the rest doesn't matter.

Yeah hard for me to understand. There is no logic behind.

I mentally tuned out of it if its not the Brand Central music. If Take You Higher or Amigo was playing, I sort of sat there for a little while longer

Its sort of strange how GTS menu music never really made it into this game. Maybe it just wasn’t consistent with the tone they wanted to set?

Probably the same issue with GT6 Menu OST -> GTS.

There have even been church songs on the menu. I'm not kidding, I recognize some of them from the church my grandparents went to. They were played last December.
I don't know what the current fare is. There is an after race tune played on a piano I'd like to learn.
Then there's the country line dancing stuff that always plays when I'm (unsuccessfully) chasing down P1 and I'm like, "this music is absurd."

Interestingly, GT6's default soundtrack shares the same vibe/tone of Sport's. It's overall a melancholy tone with bits of relaxing happier lounge pieces shoved here and there. But to me I find that it is GT7 that is the oddball, with varying pieces of music that don't quite fit together well. In 7 we have a soundtrack with heavy style of anime rock during races but then you get Rosalia and Lenny Ibizarre horse racing meme song (I forget what it's called) that plays. You have an inconsistent mix of jazz, lounge, and pop for the menus depending on the menu you're on.

Sport and GT6 were, simply put, more consistent with the overall tone they wanted to portray imo.

I wish we could customize the music like in GT 5 & 6. When I realized you could make the racing music the menu music, it completely changed the vibe of the game for the better. In GT7, it feels like we're being forced to listen to certain tracks.("The Entertainer", Im looking at you!). Why are all those great jazz tracks hidden in the pre-race menu? That doesn't even fit.

My hunch is that they had to change the soundscape they were working with after the decision was made to change the menus visual design.

The pieces were probably not all together yet, but choosing Ensemble Dissonance only for presenting the menu seemed like a very deliberate choice, even if using the full song would not work well. Maybe Polyphony original intended for this to be the sort of music to play in the game?

Using GT6 and GTS menu themes also do seem to fit well with the alpha/announcement version's visual style, but I'm not sure if you could swap GT6's with GTS's menu music and have those games still feel cohesive. Personally, I don't think it mixes well at all with GT7s current menus.

(just make sure to mute, and play one of the songs from GTS)

Regardless, something must of went awry during development, since, as you noted, the music from different areas don’t seem to match or mesh together seamlessly. One minute you're listening to pop and the next you're listening to modernized ragtime(?).It's like they want a weird mix of historical and modern pop music, whilst trying to keep up with... city car meet culture(?), which is already its own niche thing.

Trying to compromise with too many different interest groups, maybe.

I suspect, seeing that PD is mostly a Japanese company, didn't realize those where religious songs and just saw them as Christmas songs.....even though Christmas is technically a religious holiday.

My only grip was about the vangelis wheel of fire when you are at the last championship it was the only song playing for two weeks is I did not participate in the world championships straight away. Other than that yes some transition in menu are abrupt but I don’t care now has I heard all songs enough. I disabled songs during race at lauch so those are the only tracks I don’t have knowledge about 😅

It's clear they were trying for a "old money" feel in the Legends Cars, and a "new money" feel in the Brand Central, but where does that leave the Used Cars? The music in that menu doesn't quite fit right and feels more like "old money" feel than "I'm a poor new driver that just a bought a car from a sleazy dealer" feel.

I really liked the 'cheesy porno' song loop that GT5 had. Made it feel more like used cars to me.

True about the guilty nostalgia of being broke and in the used car dealership lol obviously cheesy on purpose
