GT7 needs to be really good

Pepe,

Meh, for $130, I think that the amortization (just in case ~ loss in value over time) over three years is piddly. I don't drink, but if I did, I could easily spend far more than that in a single year, if not a few months. I know many who do, and I'm by no means wealthy, at least monetarily.

I (think I) understand where you're coming from, but I'd just suggest that there are far worse things one can waste their money on, if indeed they have money for frivolous things in the first place. I like the -avlue added. If not, I probably wouldn't even bother playing GT6 or GT5 before it, which is about the only game I've cared to play in years. I do far more real world things with most of my time. It's those I'm "devoted" to, not GT6, which is simply a solid distraction and a way to drive fast when I get the urge, but without ending up in court or in the hospital. ;)

I don't know, I just think that you really need to invest big time to really immerse yourself. I have a DFGT and of course, it's nice to have something that resembles a real car but I was never satisfied.

I convinced myself that it was because my wheel was just crap and that the experience would be more a authentic with a better wheel, Then I got an Xbox 360 with FM4 so I was interested in Fanatec's wheels but I never actually bought anything.

Then I had the oportunity to try out a CSR Elite wheel with the F1 rim, triple-monitor set-up with F1 2012 PC version loaded up all in a F1-like rig.

I played with it for like 30 minutes and I was dissapointed, if that was the best that this hobby can offer, then I will gladly stay with cheap wheels or gamepads for the most part.

I mean c'mon, the money that was invested in that rig was probably enough to buy a real car (crap car) and take it to a track day.

I find a wheel like a DFGT to be absolutely worth it. I got my $150 and then some out of my DFGT. More expensive wheels...they're good but the extra value over a DFGT is debatably not worth it, unless you had the disposable income anyway.

Ditto extra screens/bigger screens and so forth. It's better, but is it hundreds of dollars better? YMMV.

I hacked together a cockpit using a spare car seat and some wood. That was worth it, total cost about $50 of materials and a weekend of sawing, screwing and swearing. Much more fun sitting in a car seat to drive than on a dining chair.

Exactly my thoughts @Imari ... If you have money to spend @PepeMickey , better consider a playseat or build something like Imari is suggesting, to mount your DFGT to ... it will enhance your gaming experience massively ...

@ TonyJZX How you can call GT6 a half assed pile of **** is beyond me, its nothing short of a technical masterpiece, remember its on PS3, you may have problems with the way it plays or whatever but to flush it down the toilet and basically say its pants, I just think that's ridiculous..

It's this little thing called an opinion.

I don't think anyone would deny that GT6 stretched the PS3 architecture to its limit and beyond, but we don't play "technical masterpieces", we play driving simulators or racing games whichever you prefer. Its the game part most of us have an issue with, although of course there are technical issues as well.

How you can't understand why someone would say that is beyond me. Even the most fanatical GT supporters admit it has it's problems.

Agreed. "I'm going to destroy this thing I could get money for" is a bit of a childish attitude.

Its fine having an opinion but it is completely unfair to say GT6 is pile of ****, I prefer GT6 to Forza 5 but I would not label Forza a pants game, you just can't say that about a game that does what it does well and has awesome graphics.
I can't understand the negativity about GT7 ? we know nothing at the moment other than its in development, to me a next gen GT sounds awesome, I'm starting to wonder if most the people on this site are Microsoft shills....

Likewise you can't call a game that has the faults GT6 has a technical masterpiece.

It's your opinion though and this exaggeration adequately serves to inform us of your disposition towards the game. The same goes for him.

Again, you seem to be failing to grasp the concept of an opinion. As long as someone can back their opinion up with reasons that support it then it's not unfair and it certainly doesn't make them a shill.

I suppose the glass is always half empty for a lot of people here, I understand folks may have problems with certain aspects of GT6 but what exactly do PD have to do to please you haters? it reminds me of that Monty Python line
' What have the romans ever done for us '
GT7 does need to be good, obviously but people are already having a pop at GT7 before we have even heard or seen anything, the negativity is unbelievable, are there actually any GT fans on this site? check out the Forza 5 forum, I could only find two negative threads, thing is they are full of Forza fans having a go at anyone who says something bad about Forza...go figure

personally, i think they should get a half decent soundtrack. there are a few good songs on GT, but most are pretty boring. i remember a GT5 song that was literally some synthesized random assortment of beats, and it was exactly the same note, and it was, like, the longest track in the game! WHOSE IDEA WAS THAT???!! but anyway, i added my own playlist (dont know why it too so long!) and the twenty minuet race i was dreading actually felt good! but other than that, GT is my favorite franchise, and i will always buy the new games.

Has nothing to do with being "Microsoft Shills". Although I am an unapologetic and unswerving fan of Microsoft for the affordable, high powered workstations they brought us with their partners in the hardware and software world in the area of personal computers, I don't own an XBox and likely never will. I own a PS3, and depending on the professionalism of Sony and their satellite companies, perhaps I'll buy their next console at some point.

Instead, it has everything to do with the apparent shift in focus by both Sony and PD to GT7 (and unfortunately a subset of vocal playstation users with an apparent ability to burn money without personal loss) and a subsequent observable lack of focus on GT6, which is the present game they released, that is, without providing at least three major components, ie, Course Maker, "community features" (ie, My Lounge), and B_spec, and for which they have been absolutely silent since game release.

agreed. i think PD's biggest problem with GT is that they were trying to get the absolute best out of the PS3 graphics wise (for the most part!) and i think that a next gen system will allow them to be satisfied. and also, people have been saying that the PS4 is allot easier to program games for, so you never know!

Maybe because this site is not populated by GT fans, quite the opposite.
Well, for starters the FM forums are heavily censored, mods there only permit positive threads by excited fanboys and commence to ban or lock almost everything that has a hint of negativism. So that might explain why you could only find 2 negative sounding ones.

GTP on the other hand luckily allows everyone to voice his opinion, so when the **** hits the fan, you will read about it here first from disgruntled fans.

Yeah, well constructive criticism is one thing, you really think most of the trash talk on here is constructive? its quite sad.

Yes i do, i think you really like GT (which is your full right), so for you there isn't much wrong with the game as you probably enjoy what is on offer and don't really mind the absolute lack of challenge in career mode, nor other flaws like the horrible engine sounds, standard cars, bugs, missing features that were promised on release (and i could go on).

Most people do however expect GT to be of a much higher standard than it is now, and PD to deliver in these flawed areas seeing how big and resourceful the franchise is with the help of Sony's backing.
Add a total lack of communication and constant failure to meet their deadlines on top of those gameplay flaws, and it is only normal people break out their pitchforks and torches IMO.

GTP is like the Where's Wally of constructive criticism. Look behind the argument by repetition, just to the left of proof by assertion. It's there, trust me.

The fact that everyone isn't upset with the fact that GT6 doesn't even have everything that GT5 has is mind blowing, seems as though the people defending this game are just blindly defending it,for every good thing about this game there's two bad things.

People have different expectations. For some people their expectations were met.
