Thank you mate, appreciate it. I had another run last night and saw a 17.866 optimal, and can totally see a path to going faster than my current PB, so Iām going to keep going. Iām done with the Mazda at RBR so thereās at least another couple of days before something else takes my interest. Of course, putting all the optimal sectors together and actually nailing a faster time is something completely different from seeing an optimal split, but letās see what happens. So many places to lose tenths quite quickly...
Edit: So near yet so far. Managed an improvement, but started to notice a few things. I know that there's debate on tire temp, so this may be just placebo, and it may just all be a function of me controlling my excitement

but there seems to be some benefit in "cold tire" runs. Did a few stints today with some restarts, and each time, my first lap was the fastest. On the last stint of 10 laps, a few things happened...
Lap 1 - tiny bollard clip at Les Combes but otherwise epic lap - 2:17.860 invalidated
Laps 2-5 - reasonably consistent but with some minor mistakes, but a tenth here and there and the lap disappears
Lap 6 - so close! An improvement, but a little bit of wheelspin out of the bus-stop means it's a 17.922 and a new PB and not 17.8xx. In truth, I was on the back foot after an avg sector 1
Laps 7-9 - rubbish and still thinking about lap 6 and what could have been. Lap 9 in particular was a cruise through sectors 2 and 3 (so that I could finish my coffee if nothing else)
Lap 10 - Strong sector 1 (39.474) , epic sector 2 (1:02.310) but then coming out of Stavelot, I put my outside tires beyond the curb and onto the green. Lap was still valid but tires were dirty, so when I turned into Curve Paul Frere, the front washed wide and the lap was lost. It was at that point that I decided I should go do something else for a bit
