Following up from my post I finally got a gold, 2:15.1xx. Hopefully the bar does not move lower in the coming days! I realised a simple thing: I was not turning my steering wheel enough and being too slow with my inputs. I think this improved me as a driver over all.

Morning fellas!

So, i had multiple sessions in the Crown and for some reason i couldn't realy find the right lines, sure top 100 secured with a 12.8 but looking at my personal leaderboard that wasn't realy enough, besides it's a slidy roadcar so there should be more.
Watching @Metalgear9493 's lap ( thanks for that btw ) i knew what the problem was, not enough YEeeet out of the first tunnel into the second one and throttle management myself further to the right all the way over the double yellow to oversteer a bit into the left hander, this ... together with feeling a bit better today mindfully my times came down a bit.
And strangely i ran a first PB after 16 miles , and not much later ( 41 miles) i ran this.

There is still a tenth for sure but i am happy to split two of my nemesis friends @bigfluffy888 and @Manimal.
But beeing in the same second as the top..... nope.. not gonna happen  so 26th it is, and still 1.2 seconds of the lead :lol:

At least dropped down below a 1:28.500 with a .452 today. Optimum was a low .3, but I was no longer able to string a solid lap together after that.

Lap seemed fairly smooth...and noticeable issues for improvement?

I'm in the same boat, mate. I've just hit my limit and nowhere near a top 100.

Great lap btw looks near-perfect to me!

Man, sector 1 is always such a struggle at Road Atlanta, T2 and T5 in particular. The amount of restarts is borderline ridiculous.

Compared to Damian I lost .150 in T2/3, amazingly I managed to stay perfectly equal through the crazy left (turn 5), lost another .120 in the slow double right 90 degree turns, and then the big time loss, freaking .300 in the final turn 10A/B. :banghead:

There is obviously some time left to pick up on that lap but the correct decision is probably to give up and do something else tonight, feels like the position and percentage reward for the time and energy investment needed isn't worth it, a .0 could happen or even into 27 if everything works out but chances are slim.

That's kinda where I'm at. Maybe a linear potentiometer could help for getting back on the throttle...maybe not.

Another 104 miles at RA tonight and...do not ask me which part of my ass I pulled this out of. I do not know.

Found about half a tenth (down to a .416) midway through my session and that was looking like the best I'd do...then...a number of laps later, and out of nowhere, a 1:28.208. 😳

Again. Literally No idea. 😆

Apart from the hunt to the tenth of a second, this Miata is so pleasant to drive on this combo (it seems that the combo is popular with more than 200,000 participants):

  • the sound of the engine,
  • drive in an open car,
  • the night,
  • the rhythm of the track...

I love his behavior at the limit with this slight glide.

Congratulations to those who manage to take advantage of each power horse of this set by optimizing the grip and traction at every moment.

It was really an enjoyable one - and being a short course, if I went and had myself a bad lap, it wasn't that long around until the next one!

I was thinking to myself "I should shut down", after not improving much from my new and improved 0.416, and then, as usual, found myself completing more laps. In this case, I ended up happy I did not do so just yet.

Even just in bumper cam (so, always experiencing the open air, I suppose?), the partly cloudy evening sky makes me impatient for some top-down driving of my own here this summer.
Welp it looks like im settling with 2nd in the roadster tc which is not too bad as well, shame the #1 had to hide his replay if he is desperate for a world record but hey we move ^^
I do not understand the hiding replays thing. It's not like it's entirely replicable anyway - I've been following your ghost for days and watched the replay a number of times and I'm still ~3/4 of a second behind you.

When you compete for THE top spot, you may be afraid to show any clue to your "opponents", wether they are able to use the same technique, and wether that technique is really beneficial or not.

I am not a competitive guy in any way, but I can understand the logic behind it.

Could only manage another 28.3 earlier. Will have one more crack at it after work.

Best combo of the year by far imho. I hope PD take note of it's popularity. I wonder if there's anyone manually picking these things or is it on automated RNG?!

Yeah, I can too. That said...it should still be required.

Yeah, this one has been a lot of fun, and one that I didn't really find myself getting too mad at as it was mostly repeatable.
