Thanks for your message. I'll first take a look at the video you posted to see if I can spot anything different compared to my lap.

The only thing I can show you for now is this recording I made yesterday. I'm not sure you'll be able to get much out of it, but feel free to take a look if it helps.

I can clearly see that I'm not progressive enough on the brakes compared to those aliens. On the other hand, finding myself around 700th place is a good reminder to keep my racing driver's ego in check! 🤣

Yes, follow the brake trace in your case, there you have answers.

Decent start to Deep Forest - been a while since I did any laps on the GT7 version, so it felt completely alien at first.

52.7 is pretty much equal to the optimum lap so far, but I feel I already have all the understanding I need on how to place this car around this track, and it's just a matter of how cleanly and tightly I can execute an entire lap. Feels good to not have to deal with any gimmicks this time*, the asterisk relating to tyre choice, but I'm actually perfectly fine with the comfort mediums, honestly.

Tentatively setting a target of sub-2% gap to WR.

I figured I'd give it one more shot before dinner...and do double duty with trying to improve a little more in the Kart tonight.

And I did. ~1/3rd of a tenth (1:20.802). After 67 laps.

Still have an optimum in the .5s (a .515), but that absolutely is not attainable for me as I cannot wrap my head around the incorrect, wrong, unpleasant and illogical way this car drives.

Also, the game shift-blocked me in the corkscrew on what could have been a great lap, much, much earlier. That feature REALLY needs to go, because it is so inconsistently and poorly implemented.

If I see this car in a time trial within a year I'll still be too soon: it is bad.

Here you go.

Some short explanation so I don't flood this thread with text. There are two videos that run in parallel, but I show your video only, P1 video is "under". Both videos brake start-end events and throttle application events are used to freeze video for 3 sec every time so you have enough time to find some reference point and memorize it so you can try to nail them in your next attempt. it will also print corner speed, which might feel strange at first "accelerate here, speed 99" that's not your speed but P1 speed and you will notice that in some moments you actually carry a bit more speed , but he still floor it fully instantly and get total time faster. There are some numbers at the top, video frames, you can ignore them , I use them internally so I can check if result video shows correctly.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
It would be cool if you can give me feedback if you get video instructions easily or no? and if you are making improvements.
There are some corners where both cars go full speed, e g corkscrew down right hander, so I didn't pause video or put any text, feels no need "go full speed" 😅
Keep us posted, I hope this helps you reach 1:19.
And as you will notice in video, you are literally on pair on some brake points, so already very well done lap!

Good luck champ 🏆
Thank you for the video!! I may try again, not sure. Like I said earlier, T6 seems to be the big time killer, and as the video shows, my entry to the corkscrew needs refined. The rest is small adjustments that just continue to add up.
Have you managed to improve your time at Laguna?

I'm completely stuck at the moment. I can't seem to improve anymore, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what I'm doing wrong, especially in Turn 1 and through the Corkscrew, where I lose the most time.

I'm going to give it another try tonight, but I don't have much hope...

My current best time is 1:20.695. I'm sure there are a few tenths left out there somewhere, but honestly, I don't see how I can go much faster than that.

Have you found anything since then or identified any particular technique or section of the track that makes a real difference?
I have not tried again, yet. Maybe give it a go again tonight, we'll see.
It really seems to be tiny, tiny things that, for some reason, add up to MASSIVE changes in the time...which really doesn't help when the car isn't consistent lap to lap in whether or not you get the rotation you need to get onto the throttle that much quicker in order to take advantage of that.

It's true, all the small 'errors' just add up. I am amazed how they (aliens) can just do it every TT. I am getting faster, but dammit, it gets frustrating, but I still have fun with it.
AND....do not get me started on the shift blocking...that BS cost me several fast laps at the corkscrew entry....me>downshift ...car>"NO!"
It is still causing me to lose good laps, although it is not nearly as often, as I have been adjusting to it. Hard to change that driving habit.

I think it's close to ending now IIRC - it's like 6 hours ahead of the Kart TT, because let's be weird!

My issue with the shift blocking, besides the obvious, is the fact it isn't even consistent - sometimes it'll let you downshift, and then others - seemingly when it seems you're on a good lap - NOPE! Mine was particularly bad, as it totally kept the car from slowing down and it still wouldn't downshift, despite my spamming the paddle. Infuriating.

Yes, the inconsistencies of it is what makes it bad. I was having a debate with someone in another thread in the GT7 forum and I made a video showing how bad it is. It is IMHO something that should be addressed in an update. PD hammered in a 'fix' so it is not likely. 😒
And yep, the TT is over. 😟

May not have performed well, but I bet I'm in the top 100 for how far I launched the Porsche into the air. :sly:

2 sessions in the Porsche, recorded my best lap in the first, felt like I had some good momentum. Then in the second session I was barely able to get into the 20.7s more than a hand full of times. Best optimum i saw was a high .5, which wasn't giving me much confidence that I could find any further time.

Trying to hook up a whole lap was impossible, if the front half was good, the back half was slow, or the back half was good, the front half was sub-optimal. Trying to go through T4 and T6 was threading a needle, any slight error and you'd be flying off a sausage kerb or running into the gravel. Then there was the corkscrew where I lost 7 tenths in that one corner alone, don't understand what I was doing wrong.

I think I would've called this one fun if I had left it at the first session.

Wife was cooking dinner tonight, so that's why I figured I'd go at it then...for like two hours. At least I did improve my lap... eventually...but still ended up in 800-something because so many of those crazy people show up for these things and can seemingly defy physics.

So it'll be back to the kart in a few where at least the main issue with that one is not making it go in a circle. 😆

My prediction for the next one, due to it being 24 Hours of LeMans...LeMans with the new cars.

Which means it'll be the 911 GT3 R.

Now...onto a much less profanity-laden and enjoyable TT session - down to a 1:08.730 in the kart!! Optimum was a 1:08.515, so not a ton of time left on the table (less than The Garbage above). I quite liked that one - but holy hell do my hands hurt from death-gripping the steering wheel to keep that thing from any extra skidding...or as much as possible, at least. So, after the 911 destroyed my confidence, the goofy little kart restored it - thank you silly little thing!

Currently 69th.

Where are my controller people commenting on Eiger Nordwand in the kart? Let it be known we’re essentially not participating in this one.

The amount of time bleeding away in the hairpin section is insane. Can't get enough steering input to match the wheel drivers. Sucks to not be able to properly have a go when the kart is one of my favourites.

I have tried this TT and it is kind fun on a controller but the twitchynees is unreal. Especially on the last corner. I may try it this morning again after downloading the new update hehe.

I guess it’s a matter of perspective/expectations and what you consider to be competitive result for yourself - I assume the controller could have been a limitation for people aiming for the very top of the leaderboard, however I’m very happy with my final placing within the 300s.

Urrrrgh LeMans. I dead set cannot remember half the turns on this track, never geled with it or with modern LMP cars. They all feel so understeery, such a weird driving technique needed. I'll give it a lash but meh.
