Is this the same for you guys or can you easily switch between VR and screen?
Nope. Flat is simply not enjoyable anymore.
The only time I switch to flat and don't drive in VR is if one of the weekly challenges is on an oval/banked track (which I don't like in VR...) and I need it for the weekly bonus...

It's gonna be interesting how this will play out, now that Sony seems to be abandoning its VR plans for the future, if gt8 is going to support VR (in whichever way...) and if not, where all of us used to be racing in VR will land as our new racing home...
But, it's tea leaf reading at this point, so let's wait a few years and see ;)

I could get really PO'd if the next GT doesn't support VR2

Yes, I'm stuck unable to stay on the track without VR :D

Hi guys and big thanks for all your replies!
Very interesting to read all your different answers!

And to add to some of you, there's no going back to flatscreen to me as well. I don't want to think about a GT8 without VR support!😲

I’m really struggling with stick shift cars… couldn’t do the weekly at Willow Springs in my 911. I don’t think it was the inclines but something about using the flappy paddles but my arms moving the gear stick really set me off 🤢

Had to stop - not attempted it in flat mode yet. Not actually played GT in flat screen since PSVR2 arrived

You’ll get used to not constantly looking around and focusing ahead, it doesn’t bother me be a friend told me don’t look at your feet or follow your hand just let that stuff happen in your peripheral vision.

Vision looked clear before the update, but now I think it’s even closer to flatscreen. It’s just so crisp now. I still have the tearing from PSSR, but not ridiculously. Can’t be placebo effect.

They may be using one of the newer versions of PSSR and didn't put it in the patch notes. I know from chat on other games there's a NDA about devs saying which exact one they're using, but it has been updated several times since it was added to GT7 last year.

It usually is placebo, though

Even with no hardware upgrade to PSVR2 I think the future of the VR will be great with the PS6 and an updated GT7 and future GT releases. Reading about the projected/leaked architecture for PS6 it can allow for 4k 120fps (which the PSVR2 can display natively) with realtime path ray tracing via AI.
PS5 Pro hints at what the VR2 can display, it struggles though with the tearing etc, mixed resolution, and various frame rates.
My expectation is that the PSVR2 will plug straight in and work with the PS6 and all backwards compatability with GT7. I realise this is over a year away, but its important to look forward, and tell Sony/PD what you wish for. I'm not against a PSVR2 Pro either.

I haven’t said anything in a while, but I am really enjoying VR especially with the PS5 Pro. It’s so good… the sensation of being in the car and at the actual track literally brings joy to my soul. Even with its faults the level of fun it delivers makes me forget about them. We can only go up from here.. hopefully we get something to make this even better! Yes GT7 isn’t perfect but for me it’s the only game that completely fulfills my automotive hunger!

Automotive Hunger Games
That's a franchise waiting to be made.
Well yea maybe in your opinion… however there are not to many games in which you can drive the difference cars GT7 offers.. I have many friends who share the same passion as I do. I am in many different leagues and we drive everything. From spec Miata, GR 86 cup, 2 hour endurance racing, Super formula etc.

We’ve gotten together build old Honda FF and attacked Tsukuba circuit.. I mean with a good bunch of people to race with you can really have some serious fun with GT7, and one main reason is because of all the different types of cars you can enjoy(In VR!) Is it perfect obviously not but no game is but for what it does have it delivers for me big time.

Just drove an hour on The Nordschleife (is the MI SU7 banner new?) and haven’t noticed any difference in sharpness.

That’ll be from the new reprojection method.

PSSR doesn’t work with VR yet, last update from Cerny was that they’re looking into it. I don’t see Sony looking into it too hard given the lack of PSVR support.

Looking for news about the PSVR2 it comes up that the Sony VR controllers are now supported by the Apple vission Pro headset. Quite interesting. But better news is that Sony are releasing 4 new PSVR2 games this year which shows some support for the PS5 maybe ongoing.

Yes… but still no serious vr racing games. Project Motor Racing is the last hope to be honest…

You'll be wanting the general PSVR2 thread.
