Yeah I think after a month now my big issues are:
  • Better hud - they need a solution like an Alfano or engineer radio to help with immersion
  • Harsher feedback in the headset
  • Remembering my seating position in each car
  • Show my avatar when seated in VR show room
  • Improve the lighting in VR showroom - when I move the sun moves with me at GT Cafe
  • Static VR replay (grandstand/spectator views etc) and incorporate it with Scapes
  • Banking is a no go for me 🤢 something needs to change there
There’s other issues are hardware related I think so I’m not counting them: pop in, rain off tyres etc

Have you tried GT Race Engineer? I use it continually and it very very much helps with immersion and race detail. When I race online in Daily C (or GTWS events) I use the radar to see my blind spots but GTRE calls out fuel level, lap count, lap times, etc.

It's free; give it a shot.

Hopefully that helps.

Are you using your own headset or does it work on PS5?

Edit: it’s an Android app. I have no Android devices

When in VR, an additional dash display is no use to anyone ...or does it give audio as well?
It does audio as well…… and you can tweak it.

Additionally it records telemetry so you can review it back against a replay etc

Real time dashboards are correctly useless in VR telemetry and real time audio are essential.

The engineer who made this app races in VR just as an FYI.

But a caveat is that some of the more nuanced data for audio is tricky because GT uses internal APIs and they are publicly undocumented, so it takes a lot of time to understand what it’s pushing back and the context.

So it will never be like the audio on some other PC games where the APIs are public and documented and GT doesn’t push some key data meaning that you have to do some guessing but it’s very very close.

@Bornhall and the other peeps who have reverse engineered the APIs and made some amazing apps just generally to help VR and non VR users.

*you could have just gone to the AppStore page and looked for yourself to fair bud, takes 20seconds.

I went to the EzioDash website, scanned the page (I'm a fairly busy chap during working hours) and didn't see any mention of an audio output. Thanks for posting the details - I shall have a play with this 👍

Yeah, the link is to the free version of EzioDash, and now that you mention it, the blurb about the Pro version seems to have gone missing in cyberspace – I did believe there was a splash kind-of thing that mentioned the features of the Pro version, but alas it's gone AWOL. Will have to look into it when I get home, the source files are on (or should be) iCloud, so it should be possible to find out if it was overwritten (or never uploaded, for that matter) or something.

ANYWAY, that's my problem to take care of 😅

The website for the Pro version is here: https://granturismosport.se/eziodashpro/

I'll tag @snimat here, and maybe he can add/update the telemetry software post (if he so wishes).

But yeah, there is audio commentary in EzioDash Pro (not in the free version), with some caveats as @newmedia_dev mentions above. Since there is limited data sent from the game, it is impossible to know for example the delta to the car in front and behind, your own delta in relation to your fastest lap (I'm working on a somewhat usable alternative), what track you're on (there is a mostly-working workaround) and a lot of other things (tyre wear, kinds of tyres, fuel and tyre multipliers and so on).

The commentary will not be stuff like "car on the right", but rather an update on lap times, laps left, tyre temps, pit stop suggestions and such when you start a new lap. This is by itself immensely helpful to me (I made the app for myself, originally), and it seems people appreciate it. It sports something like 4.8/5 on the App Store currently, with a fair amount of reviews, so I guess it works for most people 😄

Doughtinator did a review a while back (of the release candidate) if anyone is interested:

Don't know if any other youtuber has posted anything though.

Hope this helped, I've been too busy to really "promote" the app, and next up is an iPadOS version of the app. And for those asking; No, there are no plans for an Android version.

Has anyone experienced some kind of VR induced Synesthesia in GT7? I think I get it sometimes, today in race C at Monza on just 1 corner about 50 seconds in lap I get the strong smell of cheese, then it dissapears, but I get it again at the same point each lap. I have had a different food smell (garlic) at the Nurburgring on just one small section. And I do check the room and myself and I cant smell anything. So something weird is happening in my brain I think just at certain points/track areas. Bizarre.

When I first started using the PSVR2, I could smell wet tarmac when it rained, and dusty dirt when off-road. It sounds like a different thing to what you're talking about, but it sure was real to me at the time.

Maybe it’s like the sensation of the warmth of the sun? I felt that when I initially used PSVR2.
I experienced that as well. I was in an open top (Honda RA272) and the sun was beaming in on my virtual arm, which made my IRL arm start to feel warm. Crazy how much the brain can be fooled into having actual sensory responses to simulated content.

Lol I can see that new plastic VOC smell being confused with tarmac

If doing an early morning stint on the Nordschleife, I don't half getting a craving for sausages for breakfast when driving past those smokey BBQ's

Imagine an option to turn on/off smell in VR. Burning rubber, oil, fuel, new car smell, leather, rain, trees, catalytic converters. ;)

Kojima is trying to make something like that since ages ago

I felt a strong smell of an overheated engine once at the point I inmediatly put my "helmet" off to check my wheel because I was sure it was almost in flames. It was everything fine and the smell disappeared

Not the same but I found myself holding my breath on an open wheeler at fishermans ranch just to ensure I dont eat any dust :D
