Nice mix this week, I took the tiny red Renault out for a spin and it was a joy

Addendum to my previous posting...

On my primary account, I hopped into the VGT Corvette to give it another chance to redeem herself and with a drop in power output (both to 70%) this car was very easy to drive and still had power enough to pass others .

April – Week 2
This week's challenges were quite interesting. I spent a lot of time to complete them. And I used:
Gamepad | Automatic transmission | Race Difficulty - Hard

#5 | Gr.1 Prototype Series | Fuji International Raceway
F3500-A | PP 950 | RM tyres | FM 4 | 1 pit
To my surprise, the race did not go according to the usual scenario. It wasn't raining. I overtook the leaders twice, before and after the pit stop.

#4 | Vision Gran Turismo Trophy | Kyoto Driving Park – Yamagiwa
Dodge SRT Tomahawk S VGT | PP 850 | SS tyres
As usual, the leaders were Porsche and Jaguar. No matter which car I choose, they always run away from me on the straights. Then I decided to use the SRT Tomahawk, because of its high stability and endless DRS. As a result, I still won.

#3 | Time Trial | Dragon Trail – Gardens Reverse
What a strange task it is to drive on dry tires on wet asphalt. In regular races, I have the option to change the tyres. But I got the gold, and that's good enough.

#2 | The Silvia Sisters | Tokyo Expressway – South Clockwise
Nissan Sileighty ‘98 | PP 701 | RS tyres
Sileighty was quite powerful and easy to drive.

#1 | European Sunday Cup 400 | Circuit de Sainte-Croix | NOS
Mercedes S Barker Tourer ‘29 | PP 400 | CS tyres
It was a terrible event. I had the crazy idea to win it on PP400. I have used many modern cars, but without success. Then I remembered that someone advised using Barker. I tried, but I was about a second behind. In the end, I won it with NOS. Not fair, but it is.

I did the Weekly Challenge this weekend. I did just enough to get a bronze in the time trial. Next I took the Porsche Mission X to St. Croix because I wanted to get through it quickly

Next up the Silvia Sisters, I grabbed the 700 pp S15 for another easy win

Next for the VGT race I wanted to use something I haven't in awhile but I just decided to use my favorite VGT the Corvette. I downtuned it fit under the limit. It took a few laps to catch the Porsche but I did and got the win.

Finally I took the closer to Fuji. I started out at FM6 and then changed to FM4. I had to pit on lap 8 to get a splash of fuel to finish out the race. This was probably the first time in a long time where it didn't rain. Got 500k cr from the 6 star ticket.

[European Sunday Cup 400]
They should make better use of the reverse layout.

[Sylvia Sisters]
That recommended PP is ridiculous. Wouldn't 600 be more appropriate?
19d7bac9f5589-screenshotUrl.webp

[Time Trial]
Gold medal on my third try!

[Vision Gran Turismo Trophy]
The front wheels have absolutely no grip...

[Gr.1 Prototype Series]
I wish they'd make the Formula event a permanent feature.
I want the kind of immersion you can't get in custom races.

I got a Zagato VGT from a 6-star roulette ticket.

OK, this is a bit against the spirit of the thread but it was a Weekly Challenge a couple of weeks back and I think this is the place where the people who can really appreciate my latest dumb project hang out.

So, the American Clubman Cup at Road Atlanta, on Hard difficulty. Against Parker's Camaro with its race prepped supercharged crate engine on Sports Softs, and Jones' Maverick with its twin turbocharged 1200 bhp 427 cid on Sports Mediums, not to mention Serrano's warp speed C8 with Lord knows what has been done to it, I pitted... The Judge in a 600PP tune on Sports Softs, very little more than a factory spec 400 Ram Air IV, and a four speed gearbox with actual Muncie M22 ratios paired with a factory optional 3.23 final drive. And won. Cleanly of course.

After being away for a week, here are my cars for this week.
All on hard difficulty, PS4, controller, manual, no driver assists.

European Sunday Cup 400: Stock Peugeot 205 GTI '88. 396PP. Got a clean win but it was tense. Entering the breaking zone of the final corner +1s behind the Alpine A110. Carried more speed trough the corner and won by 0,133s  CRB✅
Silvia Sisters: SilEighty with 'some' tuning. 644PP, sport hard, 959kgs, 380bhp. Tailhappy, but fast enough for an easy win. No CRB🚩
Vision GT Trophy: Corsa GSE VGT. The downforce of this car is ideal for this track. T1, nearly flat out. T2-3-4-5 flat out. T6 small lift and flat out. Gaining an easy 5s in that sector alone on the Porsche VGT. Push to pass on the home straight first four laps. Lap 6 I got another one. Easy win. CRB✅ Nice use for this car...
Gr.1 Prototype Series: Hyundai N 2025 VGT. Racing mediums. 6 laps on FM1, 4 remaining laps on Racing softs. Easy win. CRB✅
Special Event: 3 tries failed. 4th was good enough for gold. Did not try to improve any further. 1:03.something.

My initial thoughts on selection for this week are:
Euro 500 - BMW M3 '89
Japanese 4WD - Impreza 22B
U.S 700 - Ford GT '17
WTC 800 - Nismo GT-R GT500 '08
I'll see how it pans out tomorrow...

My pick for this week
Euro: Renault 5 turbo
Japanese 4wd: evo 8
US 700: Camaro race mod
Elantra: Elantra (duh)
WTC 800: gt3 R
the special event seem really fun too…

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Chasing Demons Through the Corkscrew

A fresh set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges rolls in this Friday morning, April 17, as your console clock ticks past midnight into the new day. If you’ve been keeping up with GT7’s weekly rotation, you know the drill: five new events, seven days to run them, and a stack of bonus rewards waiting at the finish line...

How big of a PP you need for Elantra to work? Is 600 enough?

Edit: sorry, didn't realise this is the TC version, all clear then :)

Stock horsepower GT3R with uprated downforce. Started in FM1 on Mediums then Softs during pit stop on Lap 5.

AI cars do pit, but will not change tires. They use Hards. Overall a very easy race, as they will become turtles at final leg with worn out tires.

Which I regret.

Spun out on the final corner, hence:

Outside those Mission Trials with fuel (Absolutely slogs those are), I haven't used fuel maps at all since I started playing this game. Feel like once I figured out short shifting, they kinda just became unnecessary to me.

ALL and I mean ALL WTC races can be done in FM1. Switching to FM6 just chokes the engine. There are better alternatives to fuel mapping. But the most important aspect is the car itself. Of course, a road car engine is out of the question; but experimentation matters, and we can even simulate the same fuel and tire rates in Time Trials.

The torque curve in the game is what a lot of players overlook. Problem is, it's not made in a grid format with an X and Y axis, hence making us guess where to shift especially when we want to save fuel. And since the A.I. are generally slow, one can afford to do lift and coast plus the short shifting.

Made a video of the race as well. Pardon for the pause at the final leg.

Much better results!

Here's hoping the T598 will last much longer now that its power is hardwired.

Reasonably fun week, if not that challenging. Sunday Cup is at a pretty rare track layout which was fun even if it has the stupid chicane. 4WD Challenge isn't hard at all, 500 PP cars can win this no trouble so a lot of stock Imprezas and Evos to choose from. American Clubman Cup you have to watch out for the Maverick and the C8 as they're insane on the straights. As long as you have decent cornering and good straight line speed it's not too hard, swapped Dodge Challenger on SH was enough. One-make is good fun given it's a real world combination and suits the car really well, biggest issue I had was clipping the landmines on the inside of the corners on a couple of laps but thankfully the AI is quite slow. WTC 800 I went with my usual of a tuned road car, probably overdid it with a fully tuned C5 Corvette as I won by 25 seconds pitting on lap 5 for fuel and tyres. The AI has different strategies depending on the car and the fastest two usually pit twice, the rest aren't that quick so it's easily winnable with tuned road cars and stock Gr.3 on RH.

This weeks cars:
full

Totally unrelated but somehow related.
What scapes do you people use to share entire car lineup for the week?
Can't find scape big enough to fit more than three...
Or do you create custom race with them and take screenshots there?
Would like to share but I'm gimped as to how.😑
Thanks in advance for any advice.

A very enjoyable selection of events this week. Even the Elentra special event was surprisingly good fun. All won on hard difficulty, with no issues, and for the first time, all my initial vehicle picks were successful!

European Sunday Cup 500: BMW M3 ‘89 - Stock with SM tyres.
Japanese 4WD Challenge 600: Subaru Impreza 22B - Stage 2 weight reduction, full custom mods, SS tyres.
American Clubman 700: Ford GT ‘17 - Stock except Aero parts, SS tyres.
Elentra TCR Special Event: Stock, except RM tyres.
WTC 800: Nissan GT-R GT500 ‘08 - Stock with RH tyres. FM6 for laps 1-7, pitted on lap 7 for fresh tyres, Lap 8 - FM 4, Lap 9 - FM2, Lap 10 - FM1. Very easy win.

Six star roulette yielded (another) Genesis VGT, immediately sold for Cr.470,000

Edit: I had to back and redo the 4WD challenge, in a stock 400R, just so they were all complete in cars with no mechanical upgrades, which is a first for me. 😁
