A new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges arrives this Friday, May 1, as your console clock rolls past midnight into the new month. Five fresh events, seven days to clear them, and the usual stack of bonus tickets for anyone who works through the list...
If the damn Valkyrie start from behind ( as happens till now ), there's a good chance to run 700pp cars at Yas Marina.
I have already 5 cars from previous challenge with Titans at 700pp on sport softs .
Bugatti ( the invitation pig )
Enzo
Veneno
Strassenversion
F1 McLaren 94 .
#1 Twingo with power over the top - just equipped RHs, low-torque TC and rear wing - but that was already way too much:
#2 Atenza at Tokyo Expressway was fun, as every race in Tokyo
#3 The Schwardwald cup at GVC was unexpectedly hard, at least with the ID-R. Didn't drive very well and got 2nd:
#4 I love Nissans and I'm a proud owner of many of them. So the Nissan cup was welcome and no problem for my R32:
#5 I was really afraid of the SF race at Autopolis since I remember the SF Menu book was pretty hard. But this race wasn't at all. Was able to do it with an almost-non-stopper. Almost, because I pitted when it started raining heavily just to realize that I hadn't bought IMs before the start, so I left the pit lane without either chaning tires nor fuelling
I got rewarded with a nice Nismo Gr.1 Le Mans edition:
My picks for tonight. While the other 3 are their usual stuff, WTC 800 is gonna be the one that I can't really casually cruise in like I usually would.

Setup is classified as a weapon of mass destruction and therefore too dangerous for public use. Now under heavy protection and unauthorized usage will lead to prosecution.
Interesting week, enjoyed most of the events. Sunday Cup is a little more of a challenge than I expected given the AI isn't fast at this track, 300 SL without ABS was good fun. American FR Challenge is really easy as the AI is quite slow in the last sector and many of the cars they use have very limited top speeds, my tuned Chevelle ended up being way too quick even at 540 PP so there's a bunch of stock cars you could win with. Time trial was a bit short and pointless, very easy too as I got gold first try while being very careful. Hypercar Parade is difficult with how fast the Valkyrie is, if it gets in the lead early you're not going to have a good time in anything other than the fastest road cars. Jaguar VGT on SM was a lot of fun to drive and fast enough to pull a gap before the Valkyrie got into second place. AI did a couple of 1:52 laps to catch me up a little but still won by 6 seconds. WTC 800 at Fuji is one of my favourite races because you're always going to start with rain, sometimes it can be really heavy for most of the race. The main thing to watch for is the AI wearing their tyres all the way out and causing yellows, along with the two Subarus which often won't pit an extra time like many of the others do. Fully tuned Porsche 959 got the job done, pitted on lap 6 to switch from wets to IM, just had to look after the tyres to win from there.
Yee-haw, got a full clean sweep, within no time, despite erratic hyper cars and the never ending rain at Fuji International.
What a Friday !
1 - I ran the race at Yamagiwa recently with the PD recommended full stock Volvo V40 so I already had enough of a challenge and didn't search for another one. My Italian power dwarf, although set up as a moderate 500 PP version, made quick work of the competition. Easily, while I was in cruise mode.

I remember somebody asking for a tune here a couple days ago for an engine-swapped 500, so I thought I let some sheets here assuming the Fiat is not too different from my 595. It's a high PP setup for maxed out fun but be aware this car won't ever be an easy drive !
2 - Pulled out another go to car of mine for the Trial Mountain challenge. Used the Boss 429 here, detuned to around 550 PP for a bit of a challenge. Unexpectedly the race turned out to be very easy - I remember last week I had an attempt with Anderson in the Sierra Cosworth up front running a total of 6.45 roughly. So be prepared when he sits on pole.
✅
3 - Now the Special Event wasn't too interesting imo. You can always count me in when it comes to time trialing but ... the Nordschleife reverse bits are better. I just stopped after a few minutes here despite just having found out how to gain a good chunk of extra time. Should I return then ? Nah !
✅
4 - I don't use that car very often, I should though, it's awesome simply. I'm talking about my 785 PP LS7-swapped LC500 that I took to Yas Marina today. The breathtaking power of the engine and the extra challenge of keeping this thing in check leave me speechless every time. Do I have to mention that I passed the Valkyrie after T4 and never saw her again ?

5 - Fuji is a wonderful track as long as it's dry lol. My special relation to rain made me pick the car without fuel consumption but infinite, weather-independent grip instead : The Lexus VGT ! Started on IMs and since the track was very wet for the whole race ( 2 sections on the indicator bar ) I didn't even have to pit. Great.
My picks for tonight. While the other 3 are their usual stuff, WTC 800 is gonna be the one that I can't really casually cruise in like I usually would.
European Sunday Cup 400: Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo Leightbau. Ez American FR Challenge 550: Ford Shelby GT350R. Other then Turn 1 being tricky, also EZ Hypercar Parade: Ferrari FXX-K. Repeat once more. World Touring Car 800: Mercedes CLK LM. This was an interesting one in terms of management. Special Event: Only took two tries but again EZ.
A tuned-up* widebody Polestar 5 could hold its own against the competition in the 500HP Tuning Battle at Lago Maggiore...
For 6 laps.
I trundled around at 80kph for the remainder. Finished lapped by the whole field (hilarious synchronised law-abiding lap of honour alongside the victors on my final lap).
Still got the ticket for the event though.
*Being a EV, it's weight reduction, brakes and Racing ECU only.
Pretty decent week .
In the Euro Sunday I tried to stay in the suggested PP and tried Jeje's 399pp tune of a Captur. Great tune, lots of grip, but the two laps weren't enough. Finished in second 3 ticks behind. So I went to a 479pp Porsche tune of Jeje. Just wanted to end the race. Easy. lol
For the American FR I went with my go-to in the Vintage/Historical races, Mustang Boss on SS. Easy win.
Got Gold in the TT on my second try so ended it there.
Hypercars gets my norm Hyper FXXK. Too easy. lol
For the WTC, I used the last car I won this race in,detuned Lexus Gr.2. No pits. Rain as always at the start and continued until halfway through 7. Half of the field went in at lap 5 for IM's, the rest went in at 6. Then some of them went in again on 9 when the track was drying. I stayed out on Wets and won over Tidge by a minute even after geting punted by Mik Hizal during one of the downpour laps.
Ticket got me only 500k.
Now on to my revenge Power Pack races. lol
