A new set of weekly challenges has arrived. We see the return of the deadly Suzuki Jimny, a one-make race with the Honda StepWGN, and a 900PP battle at Interlagos.
Race 1 - Jimny Cup @ Lake Louise Short
They’re forcing us back into this thing again, but on the snow this time. At least here, its psychotic tendencies are almost completely masked when off the road. I would overtake everyone on lap 1 and would not look back.
Race 2 - Honda Vans @ Suzuka East
We are now thrust into one of the newest additions to the game: the Honda StepWGN. After driving it for the first time on the day of the update, I knew this JDM minivan had very good potential. Adding a bit more stuff to it turned it into a decent machine capable of carving corners and winning fairly easily. It isn’t my favorite of the update (that honor easily goes to the Citroën 2CV), but the StepWGN is really good as well.
Race 3 - Euro Clubman Cup 600 @ Dragon Trail Seaside Reverse
Speaking of 2CV…I get to use it this week once again! Yay! It is easily capable of beating the competition with the engine swap, though caution is necessary when using curbs at speed. It is still a small and very light car and certain curbs will easily upset its balance and send you pogo-ing to the shadow realm. Otherwise, this is a literal oversized go-kart with a giant wing.
Race 4 - Evo Meeting @ Monza
Jeez. A lot of one-makes this week, though at least there are multiple generations of Lancer Evo to pick from. I chose my CT230R-build Evo IX and stomped all over the field. 580 horses is plenty to take everyone down, especially at a high-speed track like Monza.
Race 5 - WTC 900 @ Interlagos
The finale sees us in 900PP machinery at Interlagos. While everyone else is using stuff from Gr.2 (with some classic GT500s thrown in as well), we can use whatever we wish as long as it meets the PP requirement. My choice was an LMP1 legend: the three-time Le Mans-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid. This is a bone stock example, so no turbo upgrade.
I made the fuel and medium tires last for 10 of the 12 laps before pitting for fresh soft tires to attempt the fastest lap. I managed a 1:20.1, though I know I could have gone quicker and dipped into the 1:19’s. Backmarkers did little to help my cause. In the end, though, it was a comfortable win.
With my 800,000 credits acquired, that is it from me today. Take care!
