Went a bit eat my dust with some of my car selections this week... the Yang Wang was better to photograph than to drive pity it was not the faster variant would have been really visceral on that Sarthe back straight.

There were interesting races this week. And this week I used:
Gamepad | Automatic transmission | Race Difficulty – Hard

#5 | World Touring Car 900 | Autodromo de Interlagos
SF19 Super Formula / Honda ‘19 | PP 900 | RS tyres | FM 1 | 1 pit
After trying different cars, I came to the conclusion that the SF19 is best suited for this race. In the first try, I drove without pit stop on RM tyres and fuel map 5 and I won. In another one try, I used RS tyres, fuel map 1 and I won again with 1 pit.

Yangwang U9 | PP 767 | RS tyres
I must say that the U9 handles better than the SU7. Having quickly overtaken all my rivals, I was confident of an easy victory, but on the second lap my pursuers reduced the gap from 10 to 5 seconds.

Eckert's Rod & Custom Mach Forty | PP 700 | RS tyres
I had no problems in this race. Mach Forty was faster than any other.

Toyota Sprinter Trueno 1600GT ‘83 | PP 450 | CS tyres
It’s been the hardest event of the week. I only won because I cut corners wherever possible. Didn’t use NOS. The rivals are clearly using cars with a larger PP.

Toyota Sprinter Trueno 1600GT ‘83 | PP 350 | CS tyres
In this race, I used Trueno again. It was quite difficult to win, the gap from Giulia was only 1 second.

I got 500,000 Cr. for the completed weekly challenges, but I got a MAZDA 787B engine for the daily races.

Can't believe it, it's finished already. With the races being easier than I thought they'd be, I had an astonishingly quick walkthrough. Thankfully - really short of time atm. 4 starts for 4 immediate clean wins, only the U9 event needed a second attempt. Thought I can have some proper side to side racing with the lead car, however, approaching Mulsanne corner the guy saw a gap that wasn't there and there went the CRB. So off for a second run ... Sidenote : I found the U9 a bit disappointing tbh, I had expected a bit more explosiveness but maybe that's asking too much from a 2.5 t car.
Guess there's not much more to be mentioned, maybe the fact that I really love these tiny Japanese sportscars ( and the Jeep as well ) with their quite unique behavior and that the Audi RS 5 most likely is from another universe. What a rocket !

This event is completely nonsensical if this car, the epitome of a classic car, isn't participating.

As a pre-war model, the 8C is a vintage car rather than a classic.

I suppose it could come under the classic banner in a more nebulous sense of "literally anything older than 20 years old", but it's not a particularly helpful definition as that would cover everything from the Benz Patent Motor Wagen to the Mercedes GL500. Historic wouldn't be much better as it still leaves a full 100-year spread from 1886-1986 as things stand at the moment.

Given that opponents are all 1960s-1980s (and only just at that), I think I used a tweaked, 350PP Land Cruiser '74 originally, then a stock Golf I GTI at 370PP.

Continuing my "No ABS" practice this weekend:





The Mazda 787B. Surprised me a lot how well it behaves WITHOUT ABS. Dare I say it even rotates better without it, had to set the brake balance to +3, and it solved my understeer woes.

I still have a long way to go in mastering braking without any ABS assistance, but the experience was way more fun!

In general, it is easier to do so in race cars with copious amounts of downforce than on road cars.

It's not too bad in the older road cars that wouldn't have had ABS in real life, usually their brakes are so weak it's easy enough to modulate and not have big lock ups even on CM tyres. Anything newer that would have it, or the race cars that do I tend to run ABS anyway because a lot of those cars just don't work well without it. The biggest issue I have on race cars without ABS at least on controller is that I usually have to run 4-5 brake bias, but that means I end up with too much rear brake strength in certain cars with 4WD stuff being the worst. It's a shame we don't have an option to adjust that like some sims do with rear brake valve/pad options.

So far so good this week, running exclusively randomiser choices between the WC and the Power Pack:

Roll 1: Super Formula 23. Detuned to ~899PP and proceeded to wipe the floor with the Super GT contingent (and those poor Group 3 variants) at Interlagos.

Roll 2: Suzuki Jimny Sierra. Flipped a coin to decide whether I would use the engine swapped variant or not, and it came up "K20 Civic" so decided to take it to the Nordschleife in the Tourist event. I found a road tune on Reddit (600PP), ran from the back and managed to claw myself up to 10th to take my first tick.

Roll 3: Sprinter Trueno AE86. Having both an MR2-swapped model and the same tuned up one from last month's Daily Race (remember no ABS?) in my garage, I decided to use both. The swapped car was a blast the thrash around at Lago Maggiore even on CMs with stock settings, and the Daily Race one was more than enough for the Hachiroku '80s event at Fuji.

Roll 4: Renault Sport Mégane 2011. Had a whale of a time competing in the FF Tuning event at Dragon Trail Gardens after some mild mods, to around 620PP. I could only muster 4th, but I will revisit again after fitting some suspension parts, the margins were quite small and some racing springs would certainly level the playing field.

As a bonus, last night's run was even faster under more favourable wind conditions but sadly wasn't clean thanks to the classic situation of getting sideswiped in a braking zone by a lapped AI car that had just previously moved out of the line - and then back again with nowhere to go to avoid it.

I simply just short shift, its done wonders for me on fuel saving and I've learned to be quick while doing it.

Also, Racing hards? Feel like the wear and length of the race never really justifies them for these WTC races (At least not for me), unless you're going for a no stop run.

Good Choice! FM6 with RM tyres worked well for me with a 1 stop strategy. 1:23 laps was good enough for the win on hard difficulty.

That's the thing, I always go for a no stopper if the fuel and tyres allow it without too much hassle, so in this case too. It robs me of some of the raw performance margin over the AI but also means that I won't have to pass many of them again after pitting, they're "one and done".

So this run was a two stopper with the "maxed out" so to say 2J ( around 870 PP ) ? Using FM 1 on RS throughout the whole race ? Is that correct ?
And did you again practice without ABS ? I'm asking because I've run that race last night with the maybe more common one stopper strategy using FM 6 on RM. Did three attempts but none of them was without contact so I didn't post about it here. Did you try that variant, too ? Lap times aren't noteworthy but the total should be quicker imo ...

It's basically cheating but ran the Valkyrie for Interlagos. Not really ever driven it before but it's decent fun, could really do with a customisable diff.

I did cheat a little by turning the ABS back to Weak. I want to see if my trail braking improved with that thing activated; and when to release it regardless if the aid is on or off.


But as for the rest? Race softs, pit in at Laps 5 and 10, and during those in-laps, it was lift and coast + short shifting to 6k rpm in a stock gearbox.

Same goes for the out laps.

Then race like there's no tomorrow.

Did two runs for this. One with ABS set to Weak and the other completely OFF:

Fuel Map 1. Pedal to the metal on Hards, used Overtake when opportunity presented, then pit in at Lap 8. Then continue the sprint until the end.

Now what about without ABS?

Brake Balance set to +3, also using Hards. Car was surprisingly well-behaved during braking. Just had to brake at 150m mark when using the excess power from the Overtake function.

Drove more conservatively since I have to mind the front tires too, nursing the brakes as much as I can preventing lock ups.

Car rotates better without ABS, but oh boy you have to pay attention and find the ideal braking spot.


Can definitely hit 1:17s if it weren't for the idiotic A.I. blocking my path.
