What I used, went with all Skylines, I don't think I had won with the GT-R '17 before.

What I won from the ticket.

I'm back from Tokyo and a couple more runs there with three different cars.
Two of them were on my stock challenge list, the C7 '14 ( 576 PP ) and the NSX '17 ( 578 PP ). While I was able to at least get in reach of Kokubun and achieve a clean second place podium with the Corvette, the NSX was too slow and I didn't even finish the race.
It's not impossible to win with each of the contenders but you really need a slow grid - or simply be a quicker driver than me.

I finally picked up a Fairlady Z at the UCD and tried @RCKakashi14 's challenge. Really appreciate it !
As mentioned above by @TRB1999 the car is everything but an easy drive and after a few test laps I decided to focus on safety and car control when entering the actual run. Tbh I couldn't have been much faster but it's been more important to finish cleanly ( contact only once when Blaszan rear ended me ) in a run I'm content with.

That race further proves its RNG tendencies. One run the opponents run like on qualifying, and then the other they have endurance race pace.

Initially wanted to do all races this week, but when I saw that the Tokyo rain grind is on the plan, I decided to do only 3 again...

#1 The "Oval" was a clear case for my Atenza (which actually just is the Mazda 6) @ 380pp:

#2 Kyoto is definitively one of my favorites in GT7. Once again, Mazda was the make to do the job there @ 600pp:

#3 Special events are most of the time fun. Same here, using a Chinese rocket @ 700pp:

You won't be able to use a race car if only road cars are allowed in an event.

Tuning a car is part of the "regular" workflow in GT7, especially when it comes to road cars, which offer much more tuning capacities than most race cars (which basically already have been tuned heavily by default). I believe the game "expects" the player to use a tuned car in many of the events made for road cars.

So you basically choose a road car that's not too far from the specified PP amount, go to the tuning shop (and GT Auto), buy parts for increasing or decreasing PP, then go to the car's settings sheet and adjust until you get the intended PP (e.g. 600pp).

If you're only using factory cars by intent - well, that's a different story. Then you'll have to go to brand central or used car dealer to look for cars which maximally have the desired PP by factory.

My problem is that AI drivers are too good for my casual playstyle. All their cars are 600 pp with unknown rubber type and they drive real fast. Like my days of enjoying Gran Turismo are over.

That's exactly what's the Tokyo WTC 600 is all about - and why I decided not to do it now.

It's a real though race where most of the strategies and techniques that casual players like me use in other races just won't work.

Almost made me crazy back when I tried it first. Had many, many attempts with 30 or 40 different cars and setups before I finally got 1st.

So, either try and try until you're a pretty good driver and eventually win the race, or cheat

Here's a sample video of mine. A lightly modified C7 Corvette, just one of hundreds of cars that can do the job.

Done on Sports Hard tires. The AI in the race also run on Sports tires as well, some of them on Softs which wear easily.

I always watch the replays whenever I finish a race, to see the AI and their hijinks. That is one easy way to come up with a strategy.

This is by far the most-documented race in the game. There is a thread full of suggestions on what to use - yes, even stock road cars, though comfort tyres will not be helpful; sports as a bare minimum - and strategy which you'll find here:

A bit of a premise: since we're going to have 1.14 pretty soon, I thought I'd try my hand on this event without a pp exploit since I'm guessing PD will patch it in the upcoming update, but I've soon found out this race is a somewhat though nut to crack, for multiple reasons, the first being: this is a drying track. As S-10 taught, those conditions are extremely sketchy to race on, and on a track like this with fast corners (turns 3 and 4 come to mind) you can be sure that once one of your wheels slightly grazes the water, you either meet Barry R or miss him by a few millimeters. Until the end of lap, I'm 13-15s behind and it is going up, because my car is I guess damaged - I can't see it, bcs I drive from cocpit without HUD.

Aventador showed the best, until I didn't apply livery that gave him extra PP, and now I don't know how to back things to default.

I managed (won by around 15s) in a stock Ferrari F430, on sport hard tyre.
FM1 for 5 laps, FM3 to get to the pit at end of lap 6. Repeat for second stint -> no tyre change needed...
I did need 2:10-2:11 laptimes but I could just about manage...

Know that I am also not a fan of this combo and used to do my grinding only on LeMans and sporadically at Sardegna...

Only a couple of stale narrow combinations work for this race, I wont use cheap tricks with gears myself its a driving game not an RPG yawn... Still the power pack hot chilli stuff has its place, each to their own.

Did the Tokyo 600 Wangan Midnight style this morning.

Both the Blackbird Porsche 930 and the Devil Z (with the addition of a hideous rear wing for stability) are viable options for the race with the right setups.

The Blackbird managed to beat Kokobun by 30 seconds in its attempt. It lacked top end on the straight compared to many of the other cars I used, but was very good through the corners. At a 50:50 weight distribution with sports hards and 452 horses, the 930 Turbo is effectively made docile with some minor power oversteer. I used a rear diffuser and rear wing for this. Since the diffuser adds downforce to both the front and rear, I didn’t bother with a front splitter.

The Devil Z, meanwhile, was more on the opposite end of the spectrum. It lacked through the corners but fared well enough on the straight. Without any front downforce, the GReddy Fugu Z was never going to tear through corners. The ugly rear wing helped drop the performance point rating a bit more and add some stability. I managed a 12-second win over Kokobun with this thing.

All in all, I much prefer the 930. It is a lot more fun to throw around.

My theme this week was influenced largely by this week's special event: HEAVYWEIGHTS. By heavyweights, all the cars I tried were over 2 tons(4409lbs).



Race 1- Sunday Cup: Ford F150 Raptor-6005 lbs, stock, Easy win.


Race 2- Japanese 4WD 600: Toyota Tundra TRD Pro-4411 lbs, SC430 GT500-swapped, a pretty fun track, no matter what I drive. Another win.


Race 3- Race of Turbo Sports: Bugatti Veyron 16.4-4416 lbs, stock, but ballasted up a few pounds. Another favorite circuit of mine, and the Veyron is a monster. 3rd win taken.


Race 4- Yangwang U9 One-Make: U9, 5247 lbs, Grand Valley is a little tight and doesnt really suit the U9 that well, but it is a well handicapped race for the AI. Fourth win collected.


Race 5- WTC600: Aston DP100, 3439 lbs, I tried an LFA-swapped Alphard as well as a ballasted up LC500 to no avail. The LC500 ended up 4th on my best run. I got frustrated and brought out the DP100 settle the score. I am quite happy to never run this race again.

Hi guys! I’m probably way late with the weekly report, but nevertheless... I used:

Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 ’15 | PP 600 | SH tyres | FM 1 | 1 pit
I spent 2 days trying to win this race. I tried about 20 cars and realized that the only car I could win in was a stock Huracan LP 610-4 with SH tyres. You need to be extremely careful not to hit the barriers, otherwise you’ll waste a lot of time. Lots of laps of intense focus completely exhausted me, and I finished the remaining races on another day.

Yangwang U9 | PP 767 | RS tyres
Racing in a poorly controlled Chinese electric car on a track with many slow turns is a real challenge.

#3 | Race of Turbo Sports Cars | Watkins Glen Long Course
Ferrari F40 | PP 700 | RS tyres
For this race, I used a proven F40 and won quite easily.

#2 | Japanese 4WD Challenge 600 | Kyoto Driving Park – Yamagiwa
Nissan R32 GT-R V-spec II ‘94 | PP 600 | SM tyres
For 4WD races, R32 is the most suitable car — that’s exactly what I used.

Renault Clio V6 34V '00 | PP 380 | SM tyres
A calm race with the recommended PP.

A some time ago, in an update for celebrate the 3000th added scapes scenery.
