Race 5 - Lamborghini Aventador '11

I finally made it, not win, but second place!

Bought Aventador '11, detuned to 598PP and went straight to the race.

No any mixing fuel FM1 as I can't change it due driving without HUD.

This brings me need of 2 pitting and 🥈 place in the end.

I believe I can win with Aventador, only if I manage 1 pit stop.

Here is whole race, that was very interesting, I had lead two laps before end:

I never before finished that race.

Reward from 6 ⭐ car ticket was huge - Bugatti Chiron!

Power Pack Race 2 - McLaren BMW GTR

Big fight with Bonelli at short Watkins:

And no, the AI does not drive the whole race on one tank.
I knew that this had come up somewhere else recently, and it was this thread in April from someone a lot less nice than their username suggests:

To save reading any more than that... whatever that was, when I ran that race in Normal for that thread the AI pitted as follows:

Lap 5: Gallo
Lap 6: Beauvois, Grady, Takida, Haywood, Conomos
Lap 7: Suswillo, Fraga, Blazsan, Hizal, Miyazono, Gentry
Lap 8: Kokubun
Lap 9: Gallo (2)
Lap 10: Solis, Yamanaka

That's all 15 AI. All took fuel each stop, with Conomos and Gentry on Sports Hards the only ones not to take tyres too.

Having just run it again, twice, here's how the AI pitted both times:

Lap 5: Gallo
Lap 6: Beauvois, Grady, Takida, Haywood, Conomos
Lap 7: Suswillo, Fraga, Hizal, Blazsan, Miyazono, Gentry
Lap 8: Kokubun
Lap 9: Gallo (2)
Lap 10: Yamanaka, Solis

Again, all 15 AI took fuel, all but Conomos/Gentry took new tyres.

All you have to do is watch your replay back to see that it's a nonsense that they don't pit/don't refuel.

As for "tuned up fast&furious cartoon cars" (which seems to be an overt admission of basic tuning ignorance), I've just done it in a bone-stock XJ220 (599PP, Sports Hard as standard) and then a bone-stock Lexus LFA (592PP, Sports Hard as standard).

Still, there's no helping those who don't actually want to be helped...

The Pontiac Firebird on its standard engine seems to be really good at Tokyo

26:28 finish, 2:08.5 fastest lap. The flaming chicken can hit 200 on the straight with slipstream. It is prone to power oversteer, but, being a malaise-era American sports car with 582 horsepower and sports hard tires, it shouldn’t come as any surprise.

FM1, a little lift and coast, pit for fuel on lap 8, then win.

This week...

Northern Isle Speedway | Sunday Cup | Stock Beat '91

Last time we did this race I used a stock Cappuccino. This time I thought I'd try something different. Beat it with the Beat. 😀

Also did the SRT Tomahawk challenge. Under 1 minute with a Clean Race Bonus. 🏁

Kyoto Driving Park | Japanese 4WD Challenge 600 | Stock Impreza Coupe WRX Type R STi Ver VI '99

Always a blast driving this car. Even when it's well under the recommended PP. CRB ✅

Watkins Glen | Race of Turbo Sportscars | Stock Jaguar XJ220 '92

Another stock car that can win Tokyo 600 but today she's taking on the Race of Turbo Sportscars. Took em down one by one. CRB ✅

Grand Valley | Yangwang U9 - One-Make | Power Restriction - 70

I found this race a little to easy even with a stock U9 so I thought I'd make it more of a challenge by dropping power restriction all the way down to 70.
Much better race. 👌
CRB ✅

Tokyo | World Touring Car 600 | Stock Viper GTS '02 | 561.26 PP

Ok so I have a confession to make - I've been attempting the Tokyo 600 race with completely stock cars for quite some time now. I've found over 20 cars so far but the lowest PP car of the bunch that that I've won with a Clean Race Bonus is the Dodge Viper GTS '02.

Unfortunately I lost the recording but I did save the replay. I attempted to do it again this week in the same car but ngl it's a really difficult race to win let alone get the Clean Race Bonus.

I like to record the purchase of the car and then go directly to the race so you know there is no funny business going on however that means each time I fail I have to purchase the car again. 😀

So I have about 50 Dodge Viper GTS '02 in my garage atm lol. And I've got nothing to show for it because because I'm yet to win with a CRB and on top of that today my accelerater spring finally snapped on my pedals. 🙄 I have a spare spring but it's going to take me a good hour to pull apart my sim rig to replace it. So I don't think I'm going to win this race with a CRB before the Weekly Challenges resets. 😭

So this video is a recording of the Replay of my first win in this car with CRB. Chasecam view with all the Delta turned on. Here is the replay if you want to deep dive or choose a different camera...

I will undoubtedly return to this challenge and beat that RX-7 as if my life depended on it.

• I did actually win this race a few times this week but I kept losing the CRB by pushing too hard to get past Kokubun. Grr.

A field that slow should be good enough for some other cars around that PP level too, shame that it's basically RNG if you get it though. I don't think I've ever seen them only run a 2:11 as their fastest, that 997 GT3 run I did had them run multiple low 2:08 laps and even when I tried the 964 Leichtbau they were running 2:09 pretty comfortably. There's definitely some more options out there but it's how many times you want to restart until you get the right AI, I'll leave that to you with your ever growing Viper collection

Okay, here's my first ever Weekly Challenge Thread... Challenge.

Rules: Buy a specific car chosen by me, the organizer, from the UCD.

And for this one, the selection for the duration of the week is this:

View attachment 1558146

A beloved, yet underrated Nissan sports car quickly overshadowed by its Skyline GT-R brethren. The Fairlady Z Z32 was, for all intents and purposes, made to rival the Toyota Supra as a GT sports car. Can it be a proper tuned sports car that can rival serious super sports cars competing in that 12-lap race?

THE SETUP:

Wheel choices are at your discretion, but follow the size and offset as shown below:

Now, bumper choices are up to the player.

View attachment 1558149

View attachment 1558147

Except for rear bumper, which will strictly be Type A:

Custom Rear Wing must be installed. Once again, the height is up to you:

Roll cages must be installed. Choose whichever type you want.

Now, for the tuning parts and setup. NO ENGINE SWAPS.

View attachment 1558155

View attachment 1558154

No alterations to the setup are allowed. This is strictly enforced as well.

Race rules:

  • Must be done on HARD difficulty.
  • Fastest LAP TIME wins. Total time is irrelevant.
  • Bonus points for CRB. ;)

Sample result:

PB was 2:09.7.

Good luck!
Challenge accepted and done before the physics update.

2:09.292 - lucky draft assistance from Gallo. No clean race bonus because of course not ever for me.

The 300ZX is fine when running at a smooth endurance pace - a good teacher for smooth driving even - but it falls apart when pushing.

Ricky Z Challenge - Race Photos - 1.webp

I had to make a lot of minor adjustments exiting mid and even high speed corners because the rear end would step out. Additionally, if I dabbed the brakes too much to calm down an overly-hopeful entry speed, the suspension would give up and mildly nope me into understeer (and a wall).

At the final hairpin, I had to hold 95% throttle in 2nd gear, minimize steering angle and frown my way through. In all my runs, I never got an exit that felt satisfying.

Please take these rambling with a big grain of salt because 1) this car is by nature the antithesis of how I drive, and 2) I complain about everything.
