According to the compatability page, Vice City works (and I've tested it) with great success in load times. Has anyone tried San Andreas yet?

I will know tomorrow when I return my copy of "Freedom Fighters" to my local rental store to pick up San Andreas......

Can't wait. Hope it works mucho.

I seriously doubt there will be a copy available.

What's Freedom Fighters all about?

Basically you run around beating up civilians and Police. It's good for about two days. Then the novelty wears off.

Yeah, that sounds pretty bad.

I'm mainly asking about HD Loader and SA due to classic GTA load times. HDL made such a huge difference for VC that I might rather just keep playing VC from the hard drive rather than buy SA. But if it loads from HDL just like VC, then I'll fo-sho pick up a copy of SA this week.

Was the HD loader ever released in Europe?

Just get a game pass like me. I pay $20 dollars a month (compared to a $50 US for a normal game, just released), and get to rent as many games as I want forever, no due dates. Rent one, burn it to HD Loader, return, rent another one, burn, return, the process never ends. Endless gaming for the price of HDLoader and my old computer HDD!!!!

And I think it won't matter that much with san andreas, only when moving from isnide to outside. There are no load times on the outside throughout the WHOLE THING!!!! Amazing. :wow:

I just rent locally - I don't play enough video games to really take advantage of $20 a month. Though I do think that that is AMAZING for someone who does.

I heard a rumour a while back that SA did'nt suppost the HD loader, I hope it was wrong though.

i don't really know why you would want to do this? The only load delays are for cutscenes and going inside/outside buildings. I've driven from one end of Los Santos to the other, and up into the country with no loading at all. It's not that big of a deal.

In Vice City when you cross a bridge into a new section it has to load. With HD Loader it's almost instant. Also with the entering buildings and loading cut scenes there is less than two seconds of load time.

You don't need it for SA....the load times are already seconds when you enter buildings and there is no load times around the actually city, everything is seemless.

Exactly. Apparantly it's seamless, like T100 stated, so I don't know why you want to do this that bad. The loading times in San Andreas are apparantly excellent...

Well, the initial load time with San Andreas is still supposed to be at least a minute, right?

I've copied Vice City to a HD with HDLoader and the initial loading time is almost a third of what it was, and the load between cities is less than a second.

I'd like to do it with San Andreas if it's possible just because I hate loading times and I like the convenience of never having to open the CD tray ever again. Oh, and I like the fact that I won't be putting as much wear on the lens because all it has to do is read the HDLoader disc at bootup, then it can spin down.

Loading times reduced: 👍
Lens life extended: 👍

Yeah, I see your point.

Please tell me that it's seamless? (don't tell me anything other than that, this isn't a Spoiler thread)

I've heard that there is slight load when you enter a building. I haven't played the game yet, so I can't confirm this.

I'm hoping I get it in the mail tomorrow. I'd better, because I've got absolutely nothing to do tomorrow. NOTHIN. Not a thing.

The load times aren't exactly seemless. They're not bad when you enter/exit buildings, but they are kind of annoying when loading cut scenes for missions. Yes, you can call me a picky b@stard! Overall though, not a problem. ;)

Oh yeah, the saving process is mere seconds, a lot quicker than VC! 👍

Seamless means that there isn't a loading time between islands/cities, like in Vice City when you crossed the bridges, you got a "Welcome to Vice City" screen. That is what seamless is.

So, please tell me it's seamless?

I know, but a lot of Graphics and Loading things are a little different for other people, so I'm just getting confirmation. I know it won't be, but I'm still hoping (even though I know).

Get it?

The only loading times when playing a game are when entering buildings and starting cut-scenes.

Yeah I know. But originally they said the only loading times were entering Houses. They said buildings, etc wouldn't be loaded.

But I know all of this was confirmed, but I like extra confirmation. If you don't like it, shove it.

Kidding.

I remember it said buildings then you told me houses, but I think they said buildings.

I was almost 99% positive they said Houses. But oh well. My error.

Thanks anyway. Still, I would like some extra confirmation. Therefore: Please can someone tell me if it really is seamless. It is something I got very frustrated with about GTA 3 and Vice City.

. . .and exiting buildings. This is correct so far. I haven't unlocked the whole map yet (or got away with it anyways), so I'm not positive, but I'm pretty damn sure it's seamless! 👍

Sorry, I didn't exactly know what seamless was when I used the word before.

No problem, not many people did.

But thanks anyway. It seems like the loading times for evertything are quicker anyway, except maybe on Start-Up.

Yeah it is. I don't find any problems with loading times, except a couple of things here and there. But it doesn't bother me, as I've gotten myself accustomed to GTA 3 and Vice City loading times. The start-up loading time is less. And the Music helps.

The funnier thing about that is, I was thinking just before the loading screen: "They should have Music. If they do they will probably have the same Music from the Start Video." And they did!
