No. There was too much traffic and I didn't want to take the risk. I'm not even sure if it can do a wheelie at that speed.

It can. The Hakuchou is incredible at wheelies at any speed and it's really easy to do, in fact it's the fastest land vehicle when you wheelie with it.

Something I want to try for the time trial is to have someone pick you up in a cargobob as soon as you start it, if that would count

The participant is automatically put into passive mode so that wouldn't work.

Trying out these new free mode events, and they're quite fun when my internet allows it. Just did the melee challenge and since my internet can't cope with public lobbies, everyone was lagging and I was getting killed without even seeing who was killing me, and I was trying to kill people who weren't actually there. :grumpy:
 
Did Penned In last night, great fun. It was just me and and Insurgent, I figured it would be hilarious with more players. Also Freefall the longest without dying. 1st place beat me by 105 meters within seconds of the event ending. Kill List with Valkeries. Don't do too well with only one gunner, even with 5 or 6 others in the area.
 
Anyone else on PS3 notice an uptick in random event occurrences since this [next gen] update...somehow? Target vehicles, priority vehicles, armored cars, cop distractions, smugglers, crate drops--all have been ramped up for me to the point that it's seldom more than a minute from one to the next. I can't be bothered to do much else (including my daily objectives). :lol:

R* upped the random events for this weekend.

Specifically for Xbox 360 & PS3 players this weekend, we're increasing the frequency on all kinds of classic Freemode occurrences, including Armored Trucks, Kill Targets and High Priority Vehicles - with lucrative rewards upon completion of each. Amidst this mayhem, special Event Crate Drops will also be descending from the skies on Xbox 360 & PS3, with exclusive t-shirts that you might have missed out on in previous Events.
 
I did Penned In earlier in my Elegy, and there were about six of us doing it, including two Insurgents. In the end it was just me and a T20 left, until he shoved me out of the area and wedged me against a lamppost. I freed myself, but didn't make it back to the area in time.

Good catch, I missed that completely. Shame it's for the weekend--I'm making money hand over fist and don't want it to stop. :lol:

Anyone know if it's possible to get a Surfer from SASuperAutos with the surfboard on top, or, better still, with the roof rack but not the surfboard? Alternatively, is there anywhere in particular that Surfers will spawn frequently while I'm driving a Surfer? I've bought 7 (having sold 6) without getting anything other than a plain roof.
 
So for whatever reason my interent is so slow, I can't even connect to one other person in online, be it in a job or one of my friends. Trying to earn a bit of pocket change, but it stinks because I can't even do my daily objectives...
 
Does anyone know if there's a certain time frame you have to complete five freemode events to get the rewards? I've just done five different ones and got nothing.

I know of one location under a bridge near Paleto Bay where Surfers will spawn, but I'm not sure if they'll come with the surfboards too.

Oh great I wasn't nothing with GTA this weekend. I've missed half of my available time now. Will have to pop online and just chill and do the free mode occurrences.

Tested it myself. Well It's actually quickest in a straight line along with the Dinka Thrust. Forgot about that Bike.

Sometimes Surfers spawn on the beach by the airport LS Customs on PS4, not sure if it's different for PS3.

I have never seen them by that garage on PS3, so it's likely a next-gen thing. Spawning mechanics have changed on new systems; You have a larger variety of cars on the street than last-gen did.
 
There needs to be a free mode event high score thread that requires screenshot proof.
