Yeah agree, felt more like an "apology", they have LOTS more stuff in their own website.Did... did anything actually happen in that trailer? It just felt like a vibe-check.
It's not a leaked map. It's a community made map based on the first trailer, the leaked clips from a few years ago, and some files containing location names from the same leaks.Looking at the 'leaked' map that's been doing the rounds on socials, it looks pretty accurate. The place names mostly seem to align.
PC releases have come significantly later since IV. It's been reported VI will likely see the PC around 12-15 months after console release like V.Lame, no PC release at launch. I look forward to playing this around 2030.
According to Digital Foundry based on trailer 1, they think it will likely run at 30fps to accomplish what they're after. I believe they've noted though, that Rockstar is well adept at using different & new techniques with their Rage engine when it comes to performance optimization.I felt the first trailer was a lot better, this one didn't feel as GTA.. or might just be the fact they just announced the game is still a year away that's making me feel that way.
Although we saw no actual gameplay I still think if the game looks anywhere near what it does in those trailers we are looking at a 30fps on current gen surely?
We got a release date. 🤷♂️Did... did anything actually happen in that trailer? It just felt like a vibe-check.
For the PS5, Rockstar say it will run / does run exactly like thatI'm curious how will PS5 and Xbox handle this game, especially Series S.
I expect there will be quality options like a lot of games have nowadays.A bit more tech analysis of the trailer says it's heavily upscaled, 1440p with FSR1, and due to the lighting/shadows/etc the game is almost certainly going to be 30 fps.
This is Rockstar, they don't operate like everyone else. Maximum graphical fidelity is their thing these days. RDR2 still doesn't have a 60 fps option on PS5, 7 years after the initial last-gen release. A 60 fps mode would likely only come with a PS6/Xbox-whatever/PC version a couple of years down the line.I expect there will be quality options like a lot of games have nowadays.
My bet is the following:
Xbox series S: 30fps low quality 1080p
Xbox series X/PS5: 30fps high quality / 60fps low quality, both 1440p upscaled
PS5 Pro: 30fps with ray tracing / 60fps high quality, both 1440p upscaled, possibly with an additional native 4k60fps mode with slightly lower quality
Where low quality still looks very good (small step up from GTA5 current gen versions), and high quality is what we saw in the trailer.
RDR2 doesn't have a PS5 update at all to my knowledge, so all options are still based on PS4.This is Rockstar, they don't operate like everyone else. GTA5 is a PS3/Xbox 360 game, it's not the same as a brand new release.RDR2 doesn't have a PS5 update at all to my knowledge, so all options are still based on PS4.
GTA5 does have these options on PS5 (fidelity/performance/performance RT)
With the huge amount of fidelity evident in the new trailer, it's worth revisiting whether or not Grand Theft Auto 6 will be playable in a 60fps mode on console - the source of some debate following the game's initial reveal. Our initial view was that 60fps seems to be off the table, and Trailer 2 doesn't really disabuse us of that notion. You could certainly imagine a world where Rockstar adds in a 60fps mode that still runs at 30fps during cutscenes to keep fidelity high, but it's hard to imagine a 60fps mode that also includes the RTGI and RT reflections that lends the game world its realistic look. At that point, the game world would look so dramatically different - and require so much additional work to recreate the lighting and reflections using rasterised techniques - that it scarcely seems believable. Beyond this, a lower internal resolution would be required, which feels like another unacceptable cut in fidelity given the FSR-like upscaling present here. Add in the open world, and the extra CPU demands that requires, and 60fps feels like a step too far for current-gen consoles.
GTA5 is a PS3/Xbox 360 game, it's not the same as a brand new release.
Anyway here's the opinions of people far more knowledgeable
Yeah... but I found the very low count very early on to be a bit on the weird side...57 million views in 18 hours. The hype is ridiculous.
It was dropped unannounced on a Tuesday morning, so may have taken a few minutes for its existence to be known to people. I suspect most people first saw it somewhere other than Youtube, as Rockstar's own numbers announcement suggest - they say half a billion in a day, as the Youtube counter currently stands at 85 million (slightly behind trailer 1's numbers in the same time period).Yeah... but I found the very low count very early on to be a bit on the weird side...

The fact it's confirmed that this game runs on a Series S is the only thing that gives me hope this will run at 60 fps on PS5.The GTA5 Expanded and Enhanced version uses a significantly upgraded engine.
This engine is probably a lot closer to the GTA6 engine than to the original PS3/X360 version.
Having a 30fps-only game on a generation that has mostly 60fps games will look bad on them, and I doubt Rockstar would want to do that. Especially since the previous game in the series does run at 60fps.
In the DF video, I notice that they are really just speculating a bit and being very cautious during the fps discussion, but one of the guys brings up a very good point: this has to be able to run on a Series S as well. If you can get 30fps on a series S, you can definitely get 60fps on a PS5 Pro, and probably on a regular PS5 as well.
Furthermore, I disagree with their argument that certain graphics features (like RTAO) are essential to the game design. Sure, it'll look a lot better with it, but it's definitely possible to run the game without it. I doubt they'll even be able to run RTAO on a series S at all.
They are also analysing a trailer from a version of the game that's still a year away from release. There will be further optimisation.
On top of that they have already been proven wrong about their claim that the trailer is only cinematics, as Rockstar tweeted that it's half gameplay, half cinematics.
