Jake Gyllenhaal Pain GIF by First We Feast

I'm going to start a brand new walkthrough in GTA V to drown my pain...
When GTA 6 is released, we will know who won the 2025/2026 Champions League, the Olympic Games will be over and we will know who will win the next F1 championship.

Make of it what you want - I’ve just been told by a friend of mine on the inside that the delay is directly tied to R*‘s recent union busting and the firing of many workers in senior roles.

I hope they don’t get away with it. (They will)

Quite honestly, they can postpone it as much as they like. Their approach to union activity has already left a bad impression.

Rockstar are developing what could be the biggest video game of all time, yet they can’t bring themselves to offer fair working conditions or job security? It feels like corporate greed at its worst.

The reason was to 'fight' the labor union or they actually found leaks regarding the new game, which is a very serious matter, especially when you're preparing the best and biggest game that will shake up the gaming world.... no one will really know...

Oh we will know, when they get taken to multiple employment tribunals and have to provide evidence. Of course by then the game will be released, they'll have their billions and no one else will care.

Come on. We all know.

I just hope this doesn't mean all the other games scheduled for around that time next year will delay themselves, as the ones scheduled for May 2026 already did.

November is usually COD territory and people have been avoiding that month a bit with their blockbusters.
I think for the industry this is a better release date than May was.

At least they announced the delay nice and early. That gives everybody an entire year to regroup. If anything I think people will try to move their (internal) dates up a bit. Wolverine comes to mind.

It's crazy that the previous GTA would have 13 years apart from GTA 6!!!
Think about the technology (mobiles computers etc) that we had in 2013!!!
Well, we didn't have the PS4 or PS5. By the time this comes out we'll be looking forward to the release of the the PS6 within the year, i imagine.

Happy with this delay personally. May/June is just not gaming season for me. The days are long, the weather is great and there are holidays to go to.

I wont have it spoiled for me if it comes out in the winter as I can play it pretty close to launch then.

I came across this, and it offers an interesting take on the whole “leaking company secrets” argument:

This logic checks out. Rockstar never actually said the leaks were tied to in-game material, and if they were, they’d have spread online instantly.

Of course, that’s assuming their official reasoning for the firings is even true.

Starting to think we will never get this game lol
As someone who's played GTA since the initial PC demo, I don't really care much for these games anymore, will play them just not excited for them anymore...
I didn't care much for GTA 4 and GTA 5, I think I got GTA4 in a bargin bin at game stop around 2015 and got GTA 5 in 2016. I never finished GTA4...and finished GTA5 but was kinda let down by the overall strory...never did any of the DLC or online stuff with GTA5.

Funny way to spell "Vice City"...

There was a time where I would have agreed with you, but I recently replayed the remasters and VC kinda doesn’t hold up and SA is still super playable.

EDIT: Music wise VC has this one in the bag of course.

The remasters are dong.

SA was the start of the bloat: too much stuff and waaaay too much space - such that it felt empty.

It had dance missions. That says it all.

Absolutely no argument here

They really should leak everything now though
The young adult who leaked the initial content has an indefinite sentence in a mental hospital.

Former employees leaking information will not go over well for them. I feel for them, but that’s career suicide to go that route. Rockstar will go after them & other companies will question hiring them. Share what happened & let the media/consumer base punish Rockstar.

I love GTA 4, and quite disappointed with GTA 5. I played through 4 like 5 times while GTA 5 felt like a slog, only finished it once when it was on PS3. I bought the game again (used) after I got a PS5 and it was so boring, ended up abandoned it and sold the the game lol

Tbh after this delay I'm just not that interested anymore, I don't think it won't live up to the hype. Like you, I might still play it but not that excited anymore.

Honestly I reckon the delay is none of the previous reasons.

GTA has always (or, for that one guy right now, since the start of the 3D era and the beginning of what's recognisably modern GTA) been set in a satirised caricature of the USA.

Right now it's impossible to satirise or caricature the USA. They're probably having to work out a way to demolish 30% of the governor's mansion and make it gold- and ketchup-plated.
