@sk8er913 I like the lmp1 style and I know how difficult (and time consuming) modeling intricate shapes, but right now it just feels a bit boxy. If you can maybe incorporate some of the design elements from the other lmp1 designs in this thread. That being said I think if we do an lmp hypercar you should definitely be on the modeling team.

The Volt is not a city car. City cars are about 3600-3700 mm (3400 mm for kei cars) or less in length which is about the size of a Fiat 500. The Volt is almost 4500mm long.

Right, and were supposed to make a 4cyl hybrid with turbo chargers and "innovative technologies" in a 3600 mm car? Seeing as there are no set definitions of a city car, I took the best fit for the car.

Here's a comparison of yesterdays car and today's car; how many differences can you spot? I mean between the cars not the images... I tweaked the world for about 30 minutes. lol.

I quite like these models and sketches of LMP/Hypercars, but out of the bunch, i think @legacyMACHINE 's design is the closest to the design brief (size-wise), as is yours @sk8er913.
I have to admit, i'm not overly keen on the LMP route though, as i don't feel it's concepty enough. Having said that (hipocracy at play :lol:), here's a few designs i did a while ago.


I did these about 4-5 years ago, they're basically lay down driving position LMPs (a bit like the Chaparral VGT).






And i did this a couple of years ago. It was meant to be a lay-down seating position Porsche LMP, (only quite a bit smaller than any present day LMP).





Just thought i'd share them.

My LMP was concepty back at page 7 or so; with it's radical 3 wheel design XD... Lol you drew the wheels of the AMG and the seating position of the Chaparral before they were even in the planning stage lol :D ... That Porsche looks really fast :D

Pro's ;
- All of the lines are in balance with the other lines. A very nice clean design, somewhere I see some 50's design because the rcket shaped body and the single headlight in the middle? I love It.
- 4 wheel steering + leaning wheels like the Carver, could be a funny car for rallying if you put also some hydraulics/pneumatic to it for adjustable ride height.
- It's small.

Con's ;
- I don't see how the V4 will fit in the rear of the driv..eeh car. This design is more likely for an all electric (solar) vehicle.
- Exausts and all the components of a fuel-engine would ruine the clean lines of this concept I'm afraid.
- Also a V4 sound would ruin this concept I believe.. This should be and stay like a mean green (and silent) machine ;-)

Pro's :
- It looks fast, it would be fast and being a fuel /hybrid V4 powered car is acceptable.
- The fact this 'could' be the next 'head-forward' VGT in the GT series, could be a trend-setting thing for car makers. And from what I believe, it could also start a trend in real motorsports.

Con's :

Doesn't look like a city-car sized vehicle :D

I think this is the perfect blend of above two designs. A clean and round design like the first one, and a powerfull and fast design like the 2nd design, all put together in a very small Radical-ish car. I don't see any con's here :D

According to the poll results, yes. It's completely possible to use innovative technologies in cars even shorter than that. There are no official definitions for city cars but cars bigger than that are considered superminis.

I designed it a while back for the existing VGT thread, but didn't finish the view of the rear end. Wheels are a bit too big though and i feel it's not futuristic enough really.

I know right. XD I've noticed to interest in my design collapsing and @Nessy keeps posting awesome cars. :)

That last car he made was really cool, but I don't see the prone position car as a thing tho... The forces that the driver would feel would be very uncomfortable; specifically accelerating and braking. :P

Eh, the 2X uses the same position, and will probably pull way more G forces.

Yeah, ik. Definately not a fan; talk about head rush and fainting. :P and you know that feeling you get when you are upside down for a second. Yeah that's 1g, imagine 4 or 5. :P I would not drive it in real life.

And last but not least, same to the moments you had your first skateboard and going down hill on your tummy, head forward... A 1 minute speed rush (Holland is almost flat, glad I found a hill with 30 meters of elevation) :sly:

As I said. You can get 3DS Max with a student license (3 years) for free. It's just so much better in terms of learning time.

From what I understand Maya and 3DS are basically the same exact thing; except with a different UI. :P I haven't used 3DS tho, I know they are both by Autodesk tho.
