I'll be on in a bit. Since this thread has been getting creepy as of late, I'll add...

I'm going to take a dump, then a shower, THEN I'll get on :P

Cool anyone else planning on jumping on for some practice?

I believe I promised a tune for the Honda before Deep Forest and was just too busy to get it done. I do have some time this week so I took it out to Tsukuba to see what it will do. I didn't do a lot of tweaking so it could be looser and there are probably a couple tenths here or there to be had. I did run 15 laps with only 20-25% tire wear and every lap was 1:01.0 - 1:01.4 with lap 14 being 1:01.2 so tire wear shouldn't be an issue for the Civic unless you over drive it. If you are pushing wide on entry, mid-corner or exit, you are pushing too hard and abusing the tires, and making yourself slower in the process. If you want to loosen it up more, raise the front end another 10 points more or less and see if you like it.

I haven't got a chance to practice at Tsukuba to see what I can get with the MX-5. I'm sure that those are very solid times.

A fairly easy car to tune given it's good downforce, light weight, high grip and good balance out of the box. But like all lighter RWD's at Tsukuba it can sometimes be a bit tricky getting out of the tight hairpins without losing the back end, especially on the third one. Take care in the first couple of laps before the tires get warmed up and to be safe, roll the throttle on exiting the third hairpin if you have a wheel. Continuing to do so throughout the race, especially when you get a bit out of shape, is something I'd be doing if I was in this car.

Tire wear is good. If you want it a bit looser change the rear toe to -.05. A little tighter, change the rear toe to +.10-+.15. Personally, when running longer races I tend to go with safe, predictable and less prone to error under pressure and end up with tighter setups. Loose tends to be more subject to mistakes under race conditions, for me anyway.

Keeping in mind I was running repeatable race pace laps, not all out Q laps, lap times were identical to the Civic, in the 1:01.0 - 1:01.3 range but slightly faster through the first two sectors and slightly slower from sector 2 to the flag. There may be a tenth or two lurking here or there for qualifying with a little looser setup. Takes a little longer for the tires to warm up too, so you will be a little off pace for a couple of laps at the start and after a pit stop.

What about the Golf? I'm thinking the Golf needs another boost. JP what are your suggestions?

Very similar feel to the Civic hence a very similar tune. Like all FWD's, to get the most speed out of it, you can't force it through the corners. Find your pace, brake and let it roll down to the apex where all the rubber is on the track, and get onto the throttle as soon as you can without having to lift.

At the specs in the OP, the Golf was 8-9/10ths slower, so with Cnd's permission, I added a couple of parts and had it running identical times to the Civic and Miata. Cnd has given permission to anyone running this car to upgrade to these specs, but you'll have to check with him if it will hold for the future races.

This is correct. If we see similar results through testing for next week, JP's spec will become the permanent spec.
