GTP-B Rally (Open Track Day possible tonight 7pm ET - Sign Ups Open!)

groupblogo

This is a multi-generational rally racing series focusing on the infamous Group B cars that were branded the "Killer B's" in the 1980s. Additional to these cars will be vintage-era rally cars and Group A cars from the 1990s. The idea is to celebrate the world's greatest driving precision and the history of rally racing.

RULES:
1. One driver per car, car cannot be modified except by purchasing dirt/snow tires, oil change, car wash, engine rebuild and chassis rebuild. Customizable parts already installed on car such as transmission and suspension may be adjusted at the driver's preference.

2. Manual transmission only (may use semi-auto such as sequential or DS3 triggers).

3. Drivers will line up in the order of the results of the previous week. (Week 1 will be randomly generated.) Classes will go in this order: group a, group b, vintage. Each driver starting with polesitter will pass the checkered line one by one, giving a 5-second delay between each. To get an idea of how this works, play the rally special challenges in a-spec.

4. After the race is over position is determined by total time. Places are decided within each class, not overall. Group b cars are competing against group b cars, group a against group a, etc.

5. If you catch another car you may pass, but no contact is allowed. Dirty racing will be evaluated by video replay and can result in time penalties or disqualification, depending upon severity.

6. The track for each week will not be announced and no practice laps will be held before the race, with a focus on in-the-moment precision racing and quick thinking. This is a test of your ability to drive by the seat of your pants!

7. We run HEAVY DAMAGE and REAL TRACTION settings. This isn't tamed racing. This is the era of cars dubbed "too fast to race," inspiring awe and flirting with death at every bend. You should come into this respecting the car you're driving and the history behind it.

'Bout time you got this going!
I can't fully commit to a series that's on Sundays, I'm also quite bad at rallying.
But I still enjoy it.
Put me on the reserves in one of the Pugs. 👍

Cool! I might get rid of one of the Pugs since the newer one is obviously superior to the older one. I'll put you in reserves but the time/day might change so keep an eye out. Also let me know when season 3 of ALMS gets going, maybe you and I can team up in M3s :).

Still testing.

cowboys did you ever decide on a car?

Also to everyone, we're open for registration and don't let the time/date scare you because it may change if we get enough interest in a different day.

Come celebrate history! :)

I was considering the Renault 5 Turbo Rally Car but it's a rear wheel drive and no Traction Control makes it slippery

very interested in this series .
but you say 12pm ? noon or midnight
12pm noon
12am midnight

I'll take the renault if that's the case.
Show you guys how RWD gets it done.
Still just a reserve though.

Wow have some updating to do but will add you guys in the order you posted to the driver list when I get some sleep...

Also there is no race tomorrow. Figure we will wait it out to see if we can fill the roster.

And yes I meant noon not midnight ;)

The RS200 is awesome, I'm a tad slower than the "old" Peugeot 205 but the RS200 Is easier to drive.
Are these fully tuned?

No read the op ;)

They're stock except some basic restoration. Also you can adjust the suspension and tranny on those that allow it.

Also rs200 is taken but pug isn't since gogatrs is a reserve.

If a Group B Rally Car comes in my UCD... :s and are all the Lancias Vintage classed?

No but the group b one is taken.

There is a group a lancia and the 77 vintage one I think.

OP updated and everyone please join the social group as points standings will be posted there, as well as a section for off-topic convo.

It's a trans-generational series focused on group b. There aren't enough b cars so it's multi-class.

All this in the op ;)

Also I was thinking about making the starting order always random, that way certain cars may hit traffic and not always dominate, depending on skill of driver rather than engine power. In other words it's easier with the RS200 without any traffic (starting from 1st) to continue winning versus if it is occasionally in the back. It's time trials and this wouldn't affect your overall position, which is determined by your time not your spot on the grid. And it would make starting more seamless since it's already a bit complicated. Would that be okay with everyone?

Yeah I'm okay with it, it doesn't matter who start at the front for me as long as we keep around 5 seconds gap between cars when we start
