4.6km wheelie machine.

Sub-Zero

But this thing, like most high powered RR cars will try to kill you.

The Raven

Rather conflicted on this one. I love Porsches, but this isn't one. Being known for a speed record isn't cool, but I love the McLaren F1 so should I fault this for that? The CTR allows one of my favorite Porsches (but not really) to appear in a number of videogames that don't/won't have any Porsches, which is nifty, but it's so powerful that it isn't as fun to toss around as a nice classic naturally-aspirated 911 would be, which makes it kind of lame. I also have to agree it's questionable to be "the Porsche that isn't a Porsche that appears in videogames."

I don't think I can vote a classic, historically significant, badass turbocharged RR any lower than Cool. I love RRs too much.

@niky does stuff like that all the time.

That's a remarkable insinuation. I always say what I mean, and mean what I say. Any misdirection is merely in the mind of the reader.

Even if it's obviously true.

-

Over-rated, over-hyped, the source of countless "manufacturer/tuner" arguments, and, in the end, it's still an arse-engined Nazi slot car... but it starred in one of the best driving videos of all time.

Can't vote a highlands green Mustang GT (pre-Bullitt, mind you... the ones made after the movie were merely homages...) any less than sub-zero. This one also gets that nod.

Extra points for being yellow.

I didn't mean it in a negative way, sorry if it came across like that. :nervous:

I just meant that in multiple instances you've pointed out flaws with a car and still given it a cool or sub-zero rating.

Again, if it came across as insulting or rude, I apologize.

I think he was joking  If you read the rest of the post, he actually does that bait and switch thing.

Man, if the joke went over my head I'll really feel like an ass. I didn't even read the rest of the post because I was too busy trying to apologize for any insulting I had done on accident.

Haha, don't worry, I fell for it at first too.

It's a tuner thing, so you know where that goes. I like it, but sorry, buddy.

There's only one other thing that's cooler than this that is yellow.

If I come across a guy looking at my Ruf,

Guy: Hey, is that a Porsche?
Me: Sorta. It's a tuned Porsche.

See how simple that is? Subzero for me!

I'd generally be pretty indifferent about this, as I agree with the 'uncool because tuner car' comments. But that Nordschleife video means I see it differently. That man single-handedly wrestled this car - which appears to be built with the sole purpose of browning one's pants - to a very high cool.

I never understood what makes a car that wants to kill you cool. Its just not what you want, regardless of whether you're planning on racing it or simply making it a Sunday cruiser, and strikes me as the type of thing men in tight t-shirts and a lot of gel in their hair would brag about in a nightclub.

As for the RUF itself, i'll give it a Meh. Its unique and special in many ways, but its a tuner car and IMO they've overdone it.

I'm struggling to place the Yellowbird.

Appreciate it's performance (211mph from 469bhp is impressive!), but I much prefer the looks of the earlier models. The Fascination video and its iconic status makes it at least cool though :D

Solid cool.

I'm not sure why people think the Yellowbrid will try to kill you... like any car, it's only dangerous if you drive it poorly!

Sub Zero, I'd just say it's a tuned Porsche and be done with it. I love this car, I love it's legendary status of being homicidal and the fact that it's yellow.

The best response ever for the kind of of question:

"Is that a Porsche?"
"Who cares, it'll kill me in a couple of turns down the road"

And then the leave the guy in cloud of twin-turbo smoke. Sub-Zero.

To most people, it's just another Porsche; which means the driver is going to look like a cock. On the other hand, it's also one of Ruf's finest and an instant classic.

"Hey dude, nice Porsche. Is it a tur..."

"No, no, no... It's a Ruf, not a Porsche."

"What? It's clearly a..."

"Maybe it looks like a Porsche to you, but it's clearly a Ruf. You can tell from the tiny little badge and the subtle aerodynamic modifications and the custom wheels that a lot of Porsches get fitted with anyway..."

"Is that a Porsche?"
"Pretty much. You wanna almost die?"
"Okay."

You don't even have to mention Ruf unless they ask.

I seriously don't understand what this issue is. If someone asks why it says Ruf on it, just say, "you know Shelby or AMG? Similar thing here." Problem ended.
And who is seriously going to walk up and ask if it's a Porsche or not? I've never had someone walk up and ask if my Bronco was a Ford. Just saying.

Anyway, SZ.

Just a regular 930 is zero kelvin. A Ruf 930 is so cool it can't be measured. SUB-ZERO!

To most people, it's just another Porsche; which means the driver is going to look like a cock.

Stop attaching stereotypes to cars; if you did that for every car polled then every car will start to seem uncool to you.

Absolutely insane looks, absolutely insane noise, absolutely insane history and following. Very high cool.

As for the argument of 'telling people its a RUF', I personally wouldn't even care. The average Joe would just think its a Porsche. People who know a bit about cars (but not too much) would assume its some rare stripped out variant of a 930 (roll cage, Recaros, etc). Only a really keen enthusiast would pick up on what it actually is. I'd rather have a conversation with one person who 'gets it', instead of desperately fumbling an explanation on what makes it so special to 100 passers-by.
