I quite like the way these look, the rear lights are awesome and Firebirds/Camaros of this generation are currently a bit of a performance bargain.

Cool though? Nope. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of these cars is someone in a sweat-stained wife-beater with a trucker cap and a mullet doing a burnout to impress people with missing teeth. Since I really can't shake that image (particularly now I've vocalised it), it gets an Uncool.

Avoids SU because of the previously-mentioned positives and the fact it makes a nice sound as its trucker-hatted owner rumbles on by.

The one nice thing here is the engine. The LS series was simply fantastic. Gobs of power, reliable and fairly easy to maintain, great noise, and decent mileage to boot (if you had the 6-speed and kept your foot out of it).

BUT... that box it came in. Pontiac's penchant for over-styling, taken to the extreme. One of the worst interiors ever. And of course, that great hallmark of 90s American cars - overboosted and numb steering.

The 3rd- and 4th-generation Camaros/Firebirds are not aging well in general, and I think this Trans-Ams is probably the worst of the bunch, with all of it's fake scoops and plastic bits glued all over the place.

Fun? Yes. Cool? Not very.

Just noticed this thread

I voted a solid cool. Being an owner for almost 2 years now I still turn around and check out my car every time I park it. And given the number of looks and thumbs up I get on a weekly basis I'd say the styling is one of the strong points of this car. That along with price and performance that comes along with it makes it Sub-Zero car in my book. Only reason I bumped it down to cool is the hick/V6 ricer mentality that everyone seems to think comes with these cars.

The hood scoops are very real and functional 👍

LOOK AT MY NOSTRILS!

(If someone else has already posted exactly the same thing then I only posted this because I post my thoughts before I read the thread.)

Looks like something you'd see someone bring to a drag strip.

Very few cars would be cool at a drag strip. This is not one of them.

Did they let David Hasselhoff design the next Firebird because of the success of his show? Uncool, and that's being generous.

The ol' expression "You can't outrun ugly" is exemplified here. Also, it's the bad kind of mid-life-crisismobile.

My Opinion: Seriously Uncool
Popular Opinion: Uncool

Popular Opinion takes precedence, as it is stronger than my opinion in this case, so Uncool it is.

Nice bum, shame about the face. Uncool
I agree, that front end is atrocious. Has to be one of the ugliest fronts I've seen. I would much rather have the same year equivalent of the Camaro SS, and I hate that car.

Uncool.

If I saw this over-styled sort of bodykit on any other car, I would say "look at that prat, putting an awful aftermarket bodykit on a car in the ridiculous and false hope it will somehow improve the looks".

Except this came from the factory, so it was pre-ruined, and that's worse. Tragically uncool, nearly. However, it's raised from SU to uncool on the basis it's a good car underneath, in my view.

I love these things, from their design to their performance which always seemed to be really solid. They were always pretty versatile performance wise with being able to hold their own on the street, strip, track, and autocross course. However, it's a douche chariot and owned by the same type of people that bro out their trucks, so seriously uncool.

Meh, they sound great, they look nice in black or red but the styling isn't the best. I still love seeing them though, just not as much as a third or second gen T/A.

Tacky, totally out of style and made from plastic. Don't ever see this becoming a classic except in limited niche circles. Uncool.
