2001-2012 REVA G-Wiz

On paper it has a few things in common with a Subaru 360. In reality it should have never been permitted off the golf course.

The more I look at it, the more I want to drop a 1000cc motorcycle engine in it. Seriously uncool.

I think this thing is going to hell, and deservedly so.

An utterly hateful box that will make you wish for some catastrophic electrical failure resulting in fiery death.

In before ironic Subzero votes...

Crap. Too late.

I'm fully aware that this nomination is just another case of fishing for Uncool votes, but knowing several suckers whose lives were ruined by this car... it can't be anything less than Seriously Uncool.
Indeed. And I despise it for the reason @Roo mentions too - for so long, this was "the" electric car on sale, and I don't doubt was responsible for a lot of the early scepticism of EVs in general.

Little Tikes Not-So-Cozy Coupe.

Better off putting up with the London Tube and the folks that use it.

Hmm, this thing is interesting. It looks really, really practical, especially on tight urban streets. Also, it's an electric car, so it's fairly good at saving the planet.

However, it doesn't seem as attractive as other cars its size (keis especially). Even without voting, I can sense that Jahgee voted Sub-Zero, and he's a well-known "SZ when most vote SU" hipster, which is uncool by default.

I'm abstaining for now.
Hadn't even read the thread and saw this , also I only do that kind of vote when either the car is useful/innovative (Like the Prius) or was a nomination solely made to attempt to get the lowest score

I despriately want to vote this cool since any car that pisses off "purists" is cool in my book, but I really don't think I can since it looks so dorky.

Although it at least allows me to post, what might be my favorite automotive picture I've ever taken. Saw this back in London in 2007. The Rolls was worth 58 times more than the G-Whiz

This car would be instantly cooler if it was hauled around in the bed of a large pickup truck. Don't know why, but it just seems like it would be a practical "escape pod" from some sort of mecha-agro-combine-1500 vision that nobody has ever had for more than a handful of seconds before nodding off.

Like a kei-car, it seems to have been created to evade certain laws and fees...in this case, silly congestion charges. So it's a statement...though more of a "would you kindly not tread on me, thanks".

Which would only raise the cool up towards uncool.

Slightly different ethos here. Keis are a means to an end in a country that imposed rules long ago to limit the size and power of vehicles due to space and traffic constraints.

The G-Wiz is technically a quadricycle, which are a kind of legal workaround to allow people to build (and to drive) "cars" that otherwise don't meet the legislation required of proper vehicles. Like emissions (though this obviously isn't an issue with an EV) or safety. That electric ones sneak through congestion charging or emissions schemes unhindered is coincidence, rather than design.

The thing is, quadricycles don't have to be crap, like the G-Wiz is. The Renault Twizy is built to the same rules and regulations but it's had some thought applied to its design and construction and it's lots of fun to drive. I believe Toyota's limited run of trial i-Roads are similar, albeit only using three wheels.

@Dennisch @Adamgp -- To me it seemed like this was more of a genuine nomination because it's a relatively well-known vehicle with some genuine relevance (most likely from Top Gear for those of us not in the UK), and it isn't a concept car. So I voted the Meh it deserves.

If it was some South- or Eastern-Asian (or socialist) sub-automobile electric runabout that no one had ever heard of before and was just fishing for SU votes on that basis, then I might have voted SZ too. If it was something I had never heard of before, that would have added some legitimate cool points.

Even working to a price point, as the makers of the REVA obviously did, you could still do a lot better.

Hell. Half this forum could build a better car in their living rooms.
