Hold on, are you saying that saving money is seriously uncool? You know, there are millions of people who can't even afford a crapbox like this? Are those people seriously uncool because they can't afford better transportation?
To be perfectly honest, people living in extreme poverty regardless of circumstance generally aren't very cool, no. Conspicuous frugality is at the very least no more cool than conspicuous consumption.

I have to admit that you're right on that. The point was, sometimes the act of saving money is necessary and it shouldn't be considered uncool.

When talking about this particular car, the saving money should probably mean maximising profit.

"What the hell is that? Never seen one of those before"

"It's Chinese"

"Oh OK"

...so net result is not uncool, just meh. At least anywhere reasonably enlightened where folks don't go for SU so fast just because it's a weird CHINESE car, that they accidentally click the main news link or their favourite porno site in their toolbar by mistake.

Read What I put on the last page to be "enlightened" on its Mehness.

Except it doesn't. This is a vote on coolness, not quality, and by my calculations the Chery is currently polling at -1.732 compared to the Youabian's -1.738.

Guess not even this can compete with the nuclear disaster looks of the Puma... It'll be hard to top that.

Will anything ever beat the Puma? I don't see the QQ3 doing it, since this probably won't do it either, at least that looks normal.

The Puma? Not so much... :yuck:

This "thing" makes the Puma look like a work of art. :yuck:

In the interior shot in the OPs post, it looks like the seat belt receivers are different colors left and right. QUALITY.

SU

My question is, why is it still being sold after 8 years?

Because some people do not give a single damm about quality. Or good design. Or safety. Or an actual good car.

Or the ability to think rationally while considering other options, I dunno.

Buying this car is nearly the equivalent of buying a deathwish.

Chinese use asbestos to make cars, then blame others.
Everyone in the modern world knows the dangers of asbestos, this is why you should never trust or buy a chinese car.

A few caveats:

First: Asbestos use in exhaust gaskets and wraps is legal in most Asian countries, so it's understandable that Chinese manufacturers would use it for units destined for Aseana and Pacific markets.

Second: Neither manufacturer has "blamed others." The article you posted noted that Chery blamed its own logistics department, while Great Wall acknowledged it was at fault for being ignorant of the restriction.

Uncool because Chinese car, but not seriously so. It's a cheapo supermini and doesn't have any pretense to be anything other than that.

SVX
Not this again. Don't make this another McLaren F1 episode...
Listen, he asked a question and I answered it. I don't see a problem providing publicly available information to those who ask for it

Last time you did such a thing a heated discussion lasting more than seven pages erupted. I'm pretty sure it was a rhetorical question too, and it's not like you're the only one with privileges to find out who voted for what, people can do it themselves.

I didn't rate it seriously uncool, because it's not interesting enough to be uncool and certainly not cool. Meh all day.
