It's not my favorite Aston, but it's still a bloody Aston Martin. They've never made an uncool, or even "meh", car.

(The Cygnet doesn't count, seeing as it was a rebadge.)

It's uncool; it may be powerful but it's too heavy to be a proper supercar. It's also as expensive as a Ferrari, but still gets beaten by cheaper Jaguars.

I've always thought Astons are very overrated (especially in Europe). Even though all Astons look similar, this is probably the ugliest of them.

Worse reason ever.

Best reason ever.

I'll go meh. Aston's styling has overstayed it's welcome. Time for a change, a profound change, even if the mechanicals stay the same.
Wait so because a TV show for casuals thinks it's cool, it's automatically uncool? That makes no sense.

Even that plank of wood who got married?

Yeah, but Lazenby was driving a DBS before it was cool... shame it didn't have bullet proof windows. Mrs. Bond might still be alive.

.. and at least Lazenby didn't spend as much time duckfaceing as Craig.

There's always been something about the DBS I just never liked... I absolutely love the graceful smooth shape of the DB9, but with the added vents and bulging bumper, it just isn't as pretty. Same goes for the V12 Vantage (too many vents) vs. the V8 Vantage.

Voting "Meh"

Do I like it? No.

Is it the best Aston? No, personally I think the V12 Vantage is.

Would I buy one if I had the money? No, DB9 is more practical, nearly as fast, and more comfortable day-to-day, with better looks as well. And it's cheaper. So I'd buy that one and save the money.

Does any of this matter? No. It doesn't matter what I think of it. See, the thing is, most people don't know any of it's faults or how much better the rest of the range is.

To the average person, this car is "The Aston Martin that James Bond drove," and that instantly makes it sub-zero.

If you don't vote this car sub-zero, you don't understand how the cool wall is supposed to work.

To the average person, this car is "the car that that guy bought so he can pretend he's James Bond." It's no different from any other car that people buy to try to emulate cooler people.

@KinLM -- Defining what's cool/uncool based on what "the average person" would think is just another way of defining what cool means to you. You think that's what cool means. You believe people who think James Bond is cool are correct about that. You presume this car's association with James Bond would be considered cool by the average person. And you believe that's what matters in voting on this car. All of that is okay, because that's the point of a poll where you can vote on it. :p

If I paid any attention to James Bond or associated this car with him, it would have probably dragged my vote down because I think he's a joke of a character and the movies are lame. I asked my wife -- my foremost authority on the perspectives of a non-car-enthusiast -- what she thought of James Bond, and she made a mock gagging noise.

No...Just...No...

While I definitely see all of your points (especially yours @Wolfe) my Highschool friends would say different.

Whenever I ask them about this car or cars like this, they're always cool due to the badge and the movies.

For instance, the new Camaro is a super cool car to them.

These are people who know little about cars and represent just the average person (albeit an average high schooler).

To them, cars like this are cool just for the basic figures. That's how it seems to be with most people who aren't petrolheads.

I understand that sometimes things can be different, but this theory of mine is based off of about 100 people who know little about cars. 9/10 of them say "It's cool because Aston and because Bond and because power."

Slightly less cool than the DB9 so it's cool. It's a supercar that look sober. Unlike most supercars that make you an automatic douche, this one gives you the benefito of the debout.

I'd say "Mehh" in silver but "Cool" in any other unpredictable color.

The DB9 is cool, but the DBS is uncool because of the many unbecoming vents and bulges and the existence of the aforementioned DB9.

I so badly wanted to post the Lagonda, @Roger the Horse, when everyone kept saying "There is no such thing as an uncool Aston etc." but I like the Lagonda, despite how terrible and uncool it is...

Don't you forget about the Cygnet. Nobody should forget it so such a horrid thing never happens again.

I like it's "boy racer" looks. :D

It's just a more agressive DB9 which is already cool.

Also: Moar agressive looks = Cooler in my book.

Anything high-schoolers consider very cool = seriously uncool.

:)

I'm hovering between Meh and Cool. The DB9 was the most elegant iteration of new-Aston design language, while this took the Pep Boys / Chav-tastic approach to it and ruined it with some garish vents. It sort of reminds me of the Black Series AMG's; a bunch of racer cues, but still an auto-only GT underneath. Not that there's anything wrong with an auto-only gran turismo - but this reeks of a case of identity crisis.

The V12 Vantage did it better only a year or so after this, and the new Vanquish surpasses it in all ways. Looking like a wannabe-Bond when you step out of it doesn't make it cooler, either.

Why is that? I think that what they think is important considering how much many of us judge people on silly things such as what car they have and what brand of clothes they wear..

EDIT: missed the smiley thing at the end. I thought you hated everybody below 18 for a minute!

Yep, all of us are dumb. ;)

At least the Lagonda was interesting, I'll give it that. It's also very interesting to see the angular and boxy design as opposed to more 'traditional' Astons that are generally pretty curvy-looking.

Great looking car that makes a great noise and leaves you gawking whenever it drives by. Also got that James Bond connection.

However, that boy racer-ness makes it not as cool...

See, an Aston is known and suppose to be a grand tourer. Beautiful, elegant and understated. The DB9 would no doubt get a subzero, but not this with all the vents, and sideskirts.

Cool.

If this poll had gone up before the Vanquish was released, I'd consider Sub-Zero. But, the Vanquish just does everything right at making this already looking dated.

Word for word, exactly what I was thinking.

Probably the most "meh" car in existence.

Aston Martin with a V12 that isn't a V12 Vantage, and it's not a DB7/DB9.
