In before idiotic turning left jokes.

Seriously Uncool because race car. Further seriously uncool because it's the butt of so many jokes (accurate or not).

Bingo! Z's right on the money. This is seriously uncool.

NASCAR = Rolling advertisements, which ever owner throws the most money to NASCAR win. Your response:
How long have you been watching motorsports? Because that is the case with every series under the sun
So you are trying to say that every type of racing is fixed? Because what I stated basically is bribery. Turning a blind eye to cheating while penalizing others.

No, he's saying that every single racing series is now a rolling advertisement, and has been for the past 30+ years. It costs a lot of money to race in the upper echelons, and advertising money essentially help pay for the cost to design and build a car.

With that said, in virtually every racing series under the sun (except maybe LeMons or price limited series similar to that), the team that throws the most money at their car are usually the top contenders and/or winners. It's not because all racing series are fixed, it's because having good resource and drivers are expensive, and it's also very expensive to take the time to design, build and test cutting edge technology that will give a car that 0.1 second advantage.

Would've been 'meh', but come on...800+ hp in a FR car! Looks like it'd be fun for the first fifteen seconds before you died.

Bottom-level cool.

Early models of the COT were horrible... but this got solved after this bad boy appeared...

Still, Seriously Uncool...

I don't believe in the "race cars are automatically uncool" idea, but this is NASCAR we're talking about. Not just NASCAR but the ugliest of the cars produced for the sport. All the cars look too similar, and the only thing I find appealing from a stock car is the thundering sound, which is not enough, in my opinion, to pull this car out of seriously uncool territory.

The races themselves are boring too, which doesn't help. I feel the sport gets more hate than necessary, with so many saying that it takes no skill to drive a stock car, but last time I checked, it takes some real talent to be in a pack of cars all within arm's reach of you while driving at 180 MPH or however fast they go. Unfortunately, having skilled drivers does not make the sport exciting (To me at least), and no amount of driving skill makes NASCAR as cool as F1, Rallying, or touring cars, which sound cool, look more interesting and actually have interesting tracks.

Seriously Uncool.

NASCAR motors are fascinating, and the racing can sometimes be fun to watch. Sometimes.

But the cars are just... meh. At least touring cars have some relation to what they're based on... NASCAR's formula needs a serious update to stay relevant.

Not that the complete lack of relevance has hurt NASCAR, or ALMS/LMS or F1... (and no, KERS does not count... because the only mass manufacturer using a KERS-like energy recover system with quick charge/discharge capacitors rather than standard lithium batteries is Mazda... which doesn't compete in F1...)

I actually think that, as horrible and contradicting in their "goal" as they were, the earlier ones were the cooler ones. Made me think of Trans Am cars with the way the spoiler and overall silhouette were, somewhat.

NASCARs are normally meh to me this one however looks uncool. I don't care about how much horsepower it has, it's still a NASCAR and a not very good one at that in my opinion, uncool.

It's an interesting question. How do you make it more interesting?

In terms of safety, I'm not sure they can get too far away from the current formula. In terms of experimentation, I don't know if they would want to stray too far from tradition unless they somehow managed to bring in more manufacturers and allowed for different engines and transmissions.

I'd love to see NASCAR evolve to allow turbo V6s alongside V8s, similar to what we see on the road. I'd love to see them let in brands like Honda, Nissan and others to compete. More than anything, I'd like to see them add more road courses, and maybe an international race or two.

Even if they wanted to stay domestic, adding a race at Road America, Road Atlanta, or even the Indianapolis infield would be pretty cool.

Internationally, I'd love to see NASCAR make a return to Motegi, or maybe make a run at Silverstone.

Could you imagine how pissed off the fans would be if Honda or Nissan got into NASCAR. Toyota is already hated. It would be the funniest thing ever.

Toyota isn't hated, it was just that one ignorant moron. (And probably a few others.)

I'd like to see Honda and Nissan in NASCAR, would create enough teams that it'd be 40 cars racing instead of the 25-30 that we usually see.

The cars would look awesome too.

Now what would be funny is if a bunch of Japanese of European drivers came over and started doing really well. (Kinda hard seeing how they don't have a lot of oval type racing to learn from.)

Pretty soon we'll have this.:dopey:

Did they even bother naming the drivers at any point? It almost sounded like they were screaming, running around yelling "the sky is falling!"

It's actually audio from this pasted over.;)

He does say Daigo Saito's name though.

Woah, they just switched from carburated to fuel injected engines. That's a big enough technological advance for another 60 yeads or so, forget turbos. Sarcasm aside though, i don't think NASCAR would be NASCAR without big naturally aspirated V8s. I second (a few) more road courses though. I'd love to see the cup cars join the trucks at Mosport in the future.

Road courses, road courses, road courses! I think part of what makes V8 Supercars so interesting is that they do road courses.

In overweight, overpowered, under-tired full-sized sedans that are wider than pit lane.

I think it'd be fantastic.

A more liberal engine formula would be nice... but difficult to do. NASCAR can go "down" to turbo-sixes, but base them on production engine blocks (keep them in the 3.5 liter range)... to keep costs down.

Actually, I wonder if you could lower the cost of entry by supercharging the V8s... less revs, no need for hyper-expensive engine internals... just some good old pig-iron motors with a big ole charger scoop sticking out of the hood. :D

It'd be nice to see NASCAR force teams to use production-based engines, I'd really like to see GM's V8s square off with Ford's turbo V6s. Turning down the horsepower would still be plenty interesting, and it would require teams to do a lot more work to have a fast car.

But then again, I'm basically asking for TUDOR on an oval. Could be cool.

All of which makes me wish someone would take the SS to do touring car racing.

A stock car that isn't stock. A racecar that doesn't do anything right besides having tons of power. It's a generic lump of character-less steel that doesn't excel in anything performance-wise and makes an embarassament of itself at anything besides an oval.

Seriously uncool.
